Joystiq has a really good interview with MS's Major Nelson over the Guitar Hero II track packs, the Halo 3 beta, and more.

Well, I finally decided to pick up Guitar Hero II last night, and damn am I glad that I did. I think that for the first time my wife actually sat with me and played video games....the first time EVER. We really want to pick up a second guitar, but that is going to be damn near impossible to find right now (atleast I think). The game is addictive, but most importantly, fun. Once I was able to move on to medium songs, it was more fun because you feel like you're actually strumming the notes, and you get an adrenaline boost when you hit some crazy sequences.

The Walmart I purchased it from had about 15-20 of the bundles this past Wednesday when I was in there, and when I went back in last night around 9pm, they only had 2 left. This game must be selling like hotcakes.

Ya, I downloaded it this morning. I bought the game Friday night, and got a 95055 unit (I knew I was getting that model, but I couldn't wait to play it, so I figured I'd take it back if it quit working right). I've not had any problems, and I've put in about 8 hours on the damn thing so far in about 24 hours.

EDIT: Anyone know where they have, in stock, an extra guitar online?

So I've been playing Call of Duty 2 lately. I'm deep into the game, and the console starts locking up every once and awhile, the image just freezes, but nothing weird on the screen. Then suddenly about 30 minutes ago I decide to play again and it locks, but this time I get this weird white pattern of vertical lines on the screen when it does. I restarted and within 5 minutes, it did the same thing again. Is my console dying on me?

The weird thing is, it works perfectly fine in Rockstar Table Tennis. I stick in CoD2 and it locks sometimes now before the game even loads all the way, with that checkerboard pattern on the screen. I can shut down and stick in table tennis and play until I get bored and it works fine. I just bought Gears of War, maybe I'll pop that in and see if it works.

Clearing the cache is with that button combo right? I've heard that clears all your updates, does it mess anything else up?

EDIT: Well GoW locks it up too. Weird that I can play table tennis with no problems, but gears and call of duty lock it up

EDIT AGAIN: I spoke too soon, I reset the console after the first GoW lockup and played for over an hour with no problems. So I shut down the console, let it cool, popped in Call of Duty 2, and it locked up within a minute after loading my game.

When you send in the console do you have to send in your hard drive too? I don't want to lose my saves.

I just called a couple of local stores to check their stock of guitar-only packages, because I'm wanting to get a second guitar. A lady who worked in electronics at a local Target said that she had some in the back, but couldn't sell them yet because Microsoft hasn't released a street date. She said that they sold the bundles, but that typically they wouldn't be able to sell the guitars until they started selling the game seperately, which I found odd.

I refrained from saying that that sounded stupid on the phone to her, and just accepted her answer. I don't think that's correct at all. Anyone care to elaborate?

You keep the HDD. You just send in the console.

The only time that you have to send in the HDD is if that is the root of the problem.

That's not correct at all. Go read around and you'll find that others have purchased second guitars already.

Well, I just called back, and spoke a guy this time (different from the lady I spoke to this morning), and he gave me a bit more info. He found one of the guitar-only packages in the back, and the computer, when scanned, said they were releasing them on the 29th of April, 2 weeks from today. He said that the lady shouldn't have even told me they had some in the back :D.

He also said they must be holding them for an ad that week, but he didn't know for sure why they couldn't sell them til then. Oh well, that's how retail works. I thinked him for his honesty and time. If I'm still in the need for one in 2 weeks, I know where to go :).

I am EXTREMELY tempted to go pick up GH2 today. It's raining, and my wife is going out of town for the day.

Just a lot for one game...

is anyone using Vista media center with the 360? I have been TRYING to use it, but after a few minutes my media center loses connection with the 360 and the only way to fix it seems to be to restart the computer/360. It's really pissing me off..

I really doubt it's a firewall issue.

Unfortunately that seems to be a common complaint over on the xboxscene forums. I haven't seen a solution posted there yet although I have seen one post stating that there was a problem with a specific Linksys model router (they didn't mention which one) and they stated that when they replaced it with a newer model that it worked fine. You may want to try updating your router firmware if you haven't already as the worst that'll happen is that it still won't work properly.

Go buy GH2 already! Damn it's a good game. I'm to where I'm getting good enough to pass a couple of the easiest songs on hard with not much problem, and I'm working on getting 5 stars on all the songs on medium. I've put so much time into it this weekend, it's about sad.

As for Vista media center, I've been using it with no problems. I had some minor issues when I was working with wireless, but I've since wired it up, and it's smooth sailing from there. I also use the common WRT54G wireless Linksys router.

I may be headed to wal-mart soon to pick it up. :) don't worry.

I also use the same router... wrt54g.. this is pissing me off. I will go try updating the firmware as nsafreak suggests. Hopefully it will fix it!

I will also go check the xboxscene forums.

When you finally start playing some GH2, definitely go through the tutorials first. You'll learn a lot, plus you'll get some achievements points for going through all of them :). I'd suggest instead of starting with quick play, go straight into a career mode and start on easy difficulty. That way, while you're learning the game, you'll start passing some songs (and most likely fail one for some achievement points :)) and unlock more songs to begin with. If you go straight to quick play, you won't be putting forth your effort to unlock more songs to play with. You'll only start with 10, but there are about 70 in the game. Once I got to where I could pass medium songs, I went through career mode on medium, where you can then earn money to buy all the buyable songs, plus there are more songs at the bottom of the sets that I don't think you can get to in easy.

Well now my 360 has started locking with the checkerboard pattern in table tennis and gears of war as well. I guess it's pretty much a goner, although the red ring hasn't shown up yet. Another 360 owner with a dead console. :( Good thing I bought that extended warranty.

I don't know if you guys have seen the new Too Human footage released by IGN this weekend, but this game just shot way up my list. Absolutely kills the poor E3 showing they had last year. I believe this is going to be a Trilogy worth its salt.

One nice thing about this action/rpg is that you will be able to carry your character over to the next game, so say you have a level 50 character maxed out with epic loots you will be able to carry it over. Also this thing will have 4 player co-op over live, and will have a loot system similar to wow with epic drops.

Check the new video out here;

Thanks for the link jlmadyson. Too Human was one of the games I was really looking forward to when I first got my 360 early last year....at that time, it was slated for a August/September release. Since it's piss-poor E3 showing, it all but fell off the map.

I'm downloading the video now.
