Whats the best deal for Live subscription these days? My 12 month expired, I had purchased it for the free pool game and points, then sold the headset to bring the cost down some.

I'm going to get the 3 month pack now to get Joust and the points and another headset to sell, but after that what is the best deal?

Heh I found someone on IRC who had a spare card, and he was selling it for $30. So I paypalled him $30 and he msg'ed me the code.

Now I'm set till June 2008 heh.
 
You can sometimes find the 12+1 cards at retailers for $40, but that's the occassional sale.

Like purbeast, I found some deals, and I'm set til sometime mid-2008 also (have been since last September or so).
 
Just out of curiousity, did anyone see if Castlevania: SotN was released on the XBLA today? I've been looking forward to this for a while now. I'm at work so I can't check. 🙁
 
I guess I need to pay attention to the 1 year subscription deals also... mine runs out here soon, i think in april? not sure though. Better find out 🙂

Yeah it's up. Graphics look like ass. I wasn't expecting them better though, so I am enjoying it

Sweet! Yeah, I read that they weren't enhancing the visuals at all, so I was just expecting a direct port anyways. Now I got something to look forward to tonight. 🙂

Oh yeah, I wasn't expecting anything enhanced, but wow it shows its age for sure. Gameplay is rock solid and I am enjoying it a lot.
 
🙁 I was hoping the Zephyr, now Elite, would have built in HD-DVD.. especially if they're raising the price like that.
 
toys r us had some "old" xbox live gold cards on clearance for $20 for 1 year. These old xbox cards work just fine on 360.
 
hey has any one played crackdown? i was thinking about buying it hows the online game play? any one play rainbow six or battlefield 2?

crackdown is good... only bad thing about it is that there really isn't any replay value once you beat it and get all the achievements. (except for the halo 3 beta)

R6 is the greatest game on the 360 right now (in my opinion 😉) and is what I spend 90% of my gaming time playing.

I thought that battlefield was OK, but just couldn't get into it. I think you could spend money on better games than that. GRAW2 would even be better than that.

Rainbow 6 Vegas is hands down, the best game on 360. Crackdown is pretty fun, but it doesn't seem to grab me like R6 has. Everytime I boot up my 360 nowadays is to play R6. I'd say stay the hell away from Battlefield 2.
 
i already have battlefield 2 i like it the only time i play it is online i dont play any of the missions. rainbow six is awesome i play that most of the time. gears of war and rainbow six are the only games i acually played the missions because i like the story line

Well if you ever want to play R6 send me a friend request. I may even play some GoW, but I don't care for it all that much other than the single player/coop campaign.

I won it for free and, while it is nice, I don't think it is worth $50-$60. I'd stick with the wired headset until you can find a deal on it for $30 or less.

do NOT buy that piece of crap. I say it's a piece of crap because it is WAY too expensive, and the sound quality sucks. I had it and exchanged it because other people on xbox live could barely hear me. I had to talk 2-3 times louder than with the wired headset just for my teammates to hear me. It also seems to make a lot of extra background noise that the wired headset does not make.

Almost everyone I've talked to online that has had one, returned it for those same reasons. Just stick with a wired headset and put your money towards games. THere are a bunch of great games coming out soon.

Bungie updated their website this morning (or very recently if not this morning), so I'm guessing pretty soon. Most rumors and articles I've read over the past month all pointed towards an April start, which sounds about right to me. Be we'll see. I don't expect to even attempt to download it on day 1, though, because the whole Live network will crash with simultaneous requests 😀.

It's alive(insert evil laugh)...again.

read about the heat gun fix, video here since system died but was hesitant about trying. But after some thinking and since I no longer have a warranty I got nothing to lose, worst case system still dead, best case my systme works again.

along with heat gun method, I replaced the crap thermal paste that microsoft used with AS5 and whoo hoo, system was brought back to life a few hours ago. No more funky colors. dunno what fixed it. I'm leaning towards the heat gun since if it was overheating of cpu/gpu after cooling down it'd start up again but that didn't happen.

Anyhow long story short, I saved myself 300 to 400 bucks. finally this weekend I'll be able to shoot some terrorist or rebels whatever they deemed in GRAW 2
 
Has anyone tried the new Armored Core 4? I always enjoy a good Mecha and the Gundam/Robotech games are never really that good... so... is it a game that's worthwhile for me to buy, put on my shelf and never play? :laugh:
