Tampa Bay won!
I'm so glad they pulled it off.

I'm happy for the team, they deserve it, but the 'fans' piss me off. They didn't support the team all season... They don't deserve it

Not a baseball fan at all. Didn't jump on the Rays bandwagon either. But whatever, GO RAYS!

3. Coco Crisp....when you slide into the 2nd basemen, you make sure you touch the bag first....little league, man.
You can't blame him b/c BIG PAPI was the one running to first, he was making sure they didn't get two. Also, it's not 100% guaranteed that if he slid at the bag he would have been safe, the ump still could have made a bad call AND Papi would have been doubled at first. Why risk that?

This makes me lol every time though.

But it's against the rules to purposely miss the bag to slide into a player. Granted...he made it look like he did not purposely miss (he tagged it with his hands)...he was still way ahead of the tag.

Every runner at first base will slide high and tight into a fielder to try and sway the player from making a double play. You can't deviate from the imaginary baseline, obstruct a play, and intentionally cause harm to another player. All three of those are left up to interpretation.

What he did was what he should have done. No chance for a double play. It was a shame he didn't realize that he could have beaten the throw from Aki to Jason but it happens.

The strategery just wasn't in their favor. After Aybar had that double, Cora could have thrown out the ground ball hit to him. Instead, he faked the throw and tried to pull Aybar off second base. Aybar didn't fall for it and it put a runner at first and second instead of an out.

I just wanted to warn any Rays fans who are thinking about coming to Philly that if you bring those stupid cowbells we are going to find a rather uncomfortable place on your body to relocate them to. They aren't intimidating, they're just annoying.

They know that it's annoying. That's why they do it at the Trop.

I guess you also didn't notice that they were no cowbells at Fenway. At opposing fields, there's supporting your team (wear Rays jersey) and there's being stupid (bang cowbell).

Although many pundits are predicting the Rays, it's going to be tough going IMO.

Rays in 5, 6 if Howard figures out how to hit.

Phils in 4 if Hammy can pitch every game.

As a NY Mets fan it truely pains me to say that I like the *Phillies in 6 games.

The asterisk on this pick involves the long wait between the end of the NLCS & the start of the WS ... if the Phillies go in ice-cold we could see Rays in a sweep.

As a Phillies fan, this is my fear. The hitters are going to go into game 1 having to shake off the rust of inactivity, and against a pretty good pitcher. If they lose behing their ace, Hamels, the whole thing could snowball.

None of the Phillies power pitchers, including their closer Lidge and Hamels and Myers, needed this time off, and it could affect their control.

But even more so, Moyer and Blanton will be affected, especially Jamie Moyer. It took him more than half a season to really settle in to that thin, thin, thin margin where his stuff works.

He won his last 7 starts and 9 of his last 10 in the regular season. But we have already seen what schedule disruption has done to him in the play-offs.

Nothing is written in stone. Baseball is a complex game, and one that can be very hard to predict over a short series, but this layoff most definitely hurts the Phillies' chances.

And, against a young, hot, and highly talented team like the Satanic Demon Rays, they're gonna' need every edge they can get.

GO PHILS!

sox made a hell ofa comeback tonight.

this

The Rays had them beat down so bad they felt sorry for them.

And they also just wanted to win back in their home stadium for their fans.

Yep, that's smart baseball, just lose to the defending champs to move game 6 to your home park, yep, that's what it was alright..

Since you don't appear to be too bright with that response, I was kidding there mr. genius.

If you kidding it's usual to include a :) so everyone knows your joking OK, Otherwise folks might think someone who doesn't know jack has wandered into a baseball thread..

A very good chance since they're not big name teams. However, Philly's still the number 4 TV market IIRC. I don't care as long as it's a good series and the Rays win. :)

I will have to say that even as a Phils and Rays fan, it'll be hard to keep staying up late. These 8p-12 games are killing me. It hurt bad back in 93 to stay up late that much (Phils and Jays), but now I've got two kids that get at 6am regardless of how tired I am. :)

Now for the real baseball fans.

Philly is 4 and Tampa is 13. Boston-LA would've been 7 and 2.

Who in their right mind would honestly think any sports team would intentionally lose a playoff game?

Don't take this the wrong way, but what's the usual timeframe before RSN forgives a player after leaving? E.g. Clemens, Boggs, Nomah, Damon, etc. I realize he just left and the situation was about as bad as it could get. However, he did help in winning the World Series.
