Tool time is ova!

Bills decide to activate the guy that has spent the year on the practice squad to start against the bungles next week.

yep

guess ponder is now 3rd string?

I haven't read anything other than the NFL Mobile alert about it. Sounds like they are giving up on Ponder though.

Too bad. I liked the guy but I honestly haven't paid him any attention since the Lions beat the Viks in week 1.

we can atleast admit that it was a very VERY athletic play by the LB to intercept that, half the leagues LBs would have at best batted that down

It was definitely a great play by the LB but Romo didn't get enough on the ball and it hung up just long enough for the LB to intercept it. Still a risky throw in that situation even if 9 out of 10 NFL LBs would only knock it down.

rofl, Buffalo will be starting their practice squad QB next week.

Top 10 draft pick for 2014 here we come!

sure

and as for the brady/manning/brees would have found that other guy comment I call BS

they all would have no issue trying to laser that in there

we watch them do it all week

its not easy to evade rushers in a broken pocket and find open guys, they find one open enough and make it work

this time for Tony it didnt 😛

the throw was maybe a little slow? it was 1-2 feet behind where it needed to be, its the NFL, that guy was open enough and Tony missed the throw

Glad to see Alex Smith doing well (I hate when teams dump a perfectly good player when he gets injured) but dang wish it wasn't to the Chefs. But man going from 2-14 to 5-0 is impressive (helps dumping Romeo too 😉 ), I hope they get the wild card behind Denver 😉

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys can talk about Moral Victories all they want while the Saints continue to actually win.

I strongly disagree. More than likely, those guys would've eaten the ball or found the other receiver. Given the situation, I'm not sure that even their quicker releases would've allowed them to get the ball off with the necessary accuracy and speed before being hit.

Yeah, as I said, if he had space to step up in the pocket, I have no doubt he probably could've completed it. But watch the replay -- there was a LB closing in on the receiver from both sides and a safety from behind. The LB coming from the frontside of the receiver was still far enough away that had Romo had no pressure, he probably makes that throw. With pressure though, he didn't get enough on it, it hung in the air, and as a result, fell back 1-2 ft from where it really needed to be thrown. IMO, that's because he couldn't really follow through on the throw.

Remember, this was NOT a "do or die" drive. When in doubt, fall on the ball and play for OT. If it were an absolute do or die situation, maybe Manning/Brady/Brees would try to force the ball in there but I still believe they would've seen #29. 🙂 At any rate, they had very bad field position and that was a big risk to take.

I didn't mark him, but you can see the Bronco on the 10 yard line has beat the OL and is running right at Romo. We was nearly on Romo when Tony decided to throw it.

LOL@ San Diego. Stay classy SD, ain't no shame in getting shutout by the Raiders. On national television. Being schooled by yet another run-option QB. Hey Chargers, the run-option was popular LAST YEAR. Catch up to the rest of the league.

Oh, and buy yourself a defense while you're at it. Your defense is as real as Te'o girlfriend. Fuck you for making me think that you could do something this year.

I dunno, it was on NFL Network and most of the nation was asleep. Still pretty embarrassing.

I feel like it makes sense for the Vikings trade Ponder to the Bills. He went to the same school as Manuel, they had nearly identical college stats (probably just a product of the system though), and the Vikings don't need him and could definitely stand to get his salary off the books to make room for Freeman.

I doubt it'll happen though. He's injured as well so it doesn't really help the Bills much, and they can't just throw Freeman into the fire quite yet with only one week to learn the offense.

Buffalo is reportedly open to trading Byrd. Are the Vikings shopping for a safety?

I doubt they'd part with Ponder plus a high round draft pick.

Romo has one of the fastest releases in the league, top 3 if not #2 under Rodgers. This has been brought up countless times during broadcasts as a benefit of him.

I don't think he is an idiot at all and I still think Romo is one of the better QBs in the league. I think his problem is that he panics and tries to win the game himself with often disastrous results. I think that INT last night was an obvious panic pass -- he was fixed on that receiver and had a Bronco coming right at him. Had he tossed it to #29, they might get a first down and continue the drive.

You've got to be cognizant of the game situation and know when to eat the ball. Fine, he probably didn't see #29. But the receiver he threw to (was it Witten?) was well covered and to make that pass would've required a perfect throw with room to step into it. Romo did not have that room. He should've just eaten the ball. They were not trailing and the worst that can happen is that you run some time off the clock, punt it to Denver with little time left, and play for OT.
If you need to panic to try and win the game when you have 48 points something else is majorly wrong.

Their defense didn't force a single punt and only 1 FG. The only drives we stopped were by turnover (2), which is nice and all but you have to mix that in with regular defensive stands.

Don't worry, if the Broncos had won the game, everyone would be talking about their defense and not Manning's interception.

the hill blocking my antennae sucks balls, otherwise, i would get a free football night this evening.

in other news, we just had a 3.0 rumbly that shook my place for about 2 seconds. :\

The Netherlands receives gamepass for free. Which means access to all live NFL games for free. You can google the rest.

It was a big risk. It was a mistake. And it cost them the game.

On the flip side they aren't in the game or scoring 48pts without a nearly flawless game from Romo. If Romo isn't pressured we probably aren't talking about this INT. And as everyone agrees if the DAL D could make a stop, or even remotely be relied upon to do so, Romo is the hero who outgunned Manning and sets the Dallas season on course to be a top NFC contender.

Where I disagree is whether this was, "Do or die." With the 2 minute warning coming they had a free time out so a dump to the middle of the field is a GREAT play. But there was a sense of urgency. Based on the DAL D Romo cannot count on them at all. Period. Giving the ball to Manning is almost certain defeat. He had to move the ball. Ideally he takes a sack, throws an incompletion, or best dumps the ball off. But in the moment I can understand why he is pressing: he rightly felt it was up to him to win. If the DAL O doesn't come through they would lose the game.

Dallas lived by Romo and died with Romo. But without Romo they aren't in that game. In fact I believe DAL is regularly OVER rated and Romo has a substandard cast. I don't think he is great but I think he is good. He presses and makes mistakes but unlike some QBs (who are great) he isn't bailed out of 3 INT playoff games.

The chances of both teams still being undefeated by the time they first play each other in week 11 is very small, but god damn that would an epic divisional game. And then again 2 weeks later in the other stadium.

Where would you put blame for the Broncos if they had lost?

Is that a serious question? Who wouldn't blame the Denver defense in such a showing? There was no pass rush and a lack of good wrap-up tackling.

Where would you put blame for the Broncos if they had lost?

I'm not saying it was only Romo's fault. Both defenses didn't play well. But if the Broncos lost, you'd also have to put some of the blame on Manning for his INT. Are you saying it was NOT a bad decision on Romo's part?

Neither team should've given up 48+ points and you have to point the fingers at the defenses as being guilty too.

Indy's TY Hilton was offened by SEA Browner insult. Having watched the game, and not taking anything away from Hilton, is that Seattle continues to muff zone coverages. This has happened too many times this season to be a coincidence. Zone and Man both have weaknesses (in man a scrambling QB or being beat 1-on-1 can kill you; zone has soft spots by nature) but what I am seeing in SEA is blown coverage, i.e. mental/execution issues. SEA is great in man but they have been beat in zone a number of times. The long pass to Hilton was a good example of just blown coverage--Sherman and Thomas were definately not on the same page. Based on the SEA body types (especially Chancelor and Browner) I don't think zone is a good fit. Of course if they are going to get called on phantom PI it may be scaring them away from man 😉
