Good old Operation Iraqi Freedom. Free them from the chains of life by sending them to their maker.

I'm just shocked to read George Bush subscribes to Anandtech. Are you sure it's W and not Sr? Sr probably has more time to read this dribble than his son.

Notice they don't even question the possibility that was caused by Iraqi military, there have been numerous independent reports of explosives being placed in and around residential neighborhoods.
Considering Saddam's lust for killing his own people I wouldn't doubt it one bit, merely history repeating itself. Unfortunately there will be civilian casualties when you are trying to occupy and disarm a country the size of California, to assume there wouldn't be is naive. By all accounts the number has been extremely small considering thousands of missions and thousands of bombs.
I doubt anyone worldwide expected so few honestly and are stunned by our precision, I know I am, TURN on your tv and see the people going on about their business, how terrified do they look?

Questions for anyone that may have caught something I may have missed...

Anything new on the Cessna?

Any idea on the timeline the Rep Guard convoy of 1,000+ vehicles will meet the marines?

What division will they be facing?

Thats the beauty of having reporters on scene to independently verify the atrocities....

How many Kurds died when they were gassed by Saddam?
Ok you coordinate 300,000 people and see if you can get your facts straight all the time.

They call it fog of war for a reason.

Between direct actions from Saddam and the effects of the UN sactions after he diverts money from oil-for-food into his palaces and military, in the time it would take a plane flying in from the Med to drop its bombs over Bagdad and return, many more people will have been killed by Saddam than just 15. Assuming this was a result of coalition aircraft, its still isnt as bad is what Saddam has been doing.

Oh, BTW, if you want your sig to actually mean anything, lobby to get a constitutional amendment doing away with the elector college. Until then, its the law of the land.

For the mods, this is my one and only poke at this OT stuff (for this thread). Please also note it is in a post I would have made anyways

There is going to be one hell of a fight when that 1000+ vehicle convoy reaches the marines...

Depends on what kind of weapons they have, and what kind of vehicles are in this convoy. Also, why arent we killing it before it gets there with A-10s?

so far centcom says they have no evidence of this troop movement...???

I would imagine they would try to remove as much of that force by air before any ground engagement as well..

Just wondering who is / was helping Saddam gassing his own people? http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/ops/war/docs/3203/appb.pdf

According to a Senate Committee Report of 1994: From 1985, if not earlier, through 1989, a veritable witch's brew of biological materials were exported to Iraq by private American suppliers pursuant to application and licensing by the U.S. Department of Commerce. (1) Amongst these materials, which often produce slow, agonizing deaths, were:
Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax.
Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin.
Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord and heart.
Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs.
Clotsridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness.
Clostridium tetani, highly toxigenic.
Also, Escherichia Coli (E.Coli); genetic materials; human and bacterial DNA.
Dozens of other pathogenic biological agents were shipped to Iraq during the 1980s. The Senate Report pointed out: "These biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction."

And back to topic :)

I could sell you a gun, what you do with it is hardly my responsibility....

the anti-war crowd acts like terrorists, dropping in to bomb a message and then flee.

I reralize your inability to understand the importance of people needing to be held accountable for their actions and words, you are from France, the country that signs resolutions to disarm a country, then arms them in direct violation, and then cry about the need for everyone else to comply, but you and your new arms buyer apparently are exempt.

Russia is already saying they won't believe us when we find the WMDs... link

....And he (Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov) counseled Washington and London not to make unsubstantiated claims to have found caches of banned weapons in Iraq to justify their military offensive.

"If there are claims by coalition forces about discovering weapons of mass destruction...only international inspectors can make a conclusive assessment of the origin of these weapons," he said. "No other evaluation and final conclusion can be accepted."

in the article they claim only international weapons inspectors can determine the country of origin????...seems they took offense to our claim of russian GPS jamming equipment and cruise missiles, both would be blatant violations of the UN resolution they signed themselves. I have full confidence the US military can tell whether a missile is in fact soviet made.

France signed every resolution involving Iraq, including those about the types of weapons he was not allowed to have or REACQUIRE, where did those Mirage parts come from?

Arms From France, Russia, Germany, Belgium and China, their oppostion is ironic, their violations clear, they cant even follow UN resolutions they sign themselves....

??? France. I know some Americans have problems with other countries. Finland isn't same as France... educate yourself a little.

I don't understand your logic? Selling illegal bio or chem weapons is ok but shame on if buyer is going to use them. And guns aren't illegal as you might know.

I still don't see much proof of the "uprising" in Basra. The ITN reporter who broke the story got his information from a British unit that was firing into the city. He didn't see it himself. One source in Iran gave a vague confirmation, but Arab TV sources are saying there is no uprising.

originally pm from jani
"Maybe yankees now understand how frustrating it is trying to make UN resolutions which Israel are condemning.

Do Iraq have WMD? Has it used WMD in last few years - I mean after first Gulf war? And US violated Geneva convention with Taleban soldiers not denying their rights and now with Iraqian soldiers showing them on TV.

Take those white-red-blue glassses off "

Here is my response Jani, I am hardly suprised you turned off your PM's without giving me a chance to respond...this will be my last post towards you in this thread.

al-queda do not meet the requirements of the geneva convention, sorry, they are not part of a state sponsored military force, they do not fight in uniform. As far as what you see on TV what US GOVERMENT CHANNEL are you implying is violating the geneva convention? Private news sources do not have to abide, governments do, the violations are in part WHAT they did but mostly becasue of the station itself is owned and operated by the state, did I clear that up for you? A much easier situation is the Hospital is Nasiriya being used as a base, a definite no-no as well. I'm guessing you don't even know what the provisions of the geneva convention are, youre just an anti-us troll.

Yes they still have WMD, remember he agreed to prove what was KNOWN he had, what he ADMITTED himself, was destroyed, if he had he would have produced the evidence, once again, he agreed to provide, to stop this attack. Why is he issuing cipro to his troops? does he really think we will launch an anthrax attack against him?
