1,000 + Iraqi armored vehicles are bearing down on the 7th Cavalry. Hope the Air Force gives them at least some cover. Maybe they should drop the MOAB on the Iraqi column? muwhahahaha..............

They're moving down on the Marines 1st Expeditionary from what I'm hearing. That concerns me more because I don't know if the marines are equipped for taking out 1,000 armored vehicles. I'd imagine that convoy would be a pretty easy target for out planes and helicopters.

Those 1000 vehicles have a short life span. They are probably glad they are moving out from Baghdad. BTW, we don't know if they are all armord vehicle.

See...that pisses me off. They should be spotting a remnant of the column that somehow escaped massive bombardment by US air power. This and not waiting for a second Army division makes me wonder about the military commanders sometimes.

IMO the US needs to send in a large squad of tanks with the guys properly protected to test this supposed red line. I would rather find out now before all of our forces are within striking distance...

They have not made it yet, the ordinance could be in the air right now....

A MOAB would be ok by me in this instance, especially if no civilian shields can be determined conclusively....

CNN will get an updated field report about the column in a few minutes..

Can someone tell me what the point of flying a stealth bomber 36 hours around the world to bomb iraq is? Wouldn't a regular plane or cruise missile do the job for less?

Are we just flying cool planes for the sake of flying cool planes now?

LOL an iraqi armored column made a run for it from basra.

Don't they know there's hardware just waiting for them to do that?

I just picture tomahawks doing figure 8's up there waiting for some good target data to be sent to it.

Weather report says the wind has died down to 10-15mph, the next 6 days call for NO WIND...things should start to clear in @ 12 hours, meaning enough sand will have settled to create a low enough flight deck for ground support flights.

That column is not going to wait for the dust to settle and be sitting ducks. They came FLYING out of Baghdad up to speeds of 70kmh, and averaging well over 30kmh as a whole. This is going to go down in the next 12 hours.....

That's what I was thinking. The media is reporting this like it's a horrible thing for the Americans and British. Sandstorm or no sandstorm ANYTHING that gets those forces out in the open would seem to be only positive from what I can tell. It opens them up to air attacks, artillery and tank engagements in more open terrain which HEAVILY favors our hardware.

Come to think of it can't we just knock out all iraqi tv then get our own Saddam impersonator to come on the air and "surrender?"

I'd make a brilliant military commander, I tell ya.

Breaking from CNN:

U.S. Central Command says it used precision-guided weapons to attack missiles and launchers in a residential area of Baghdad, some less than 300 feet from homes. Details to come.

I'm sure there will be some civilian casualties but, truly, who will be at fault? Saddam, for placing the artillery in residential areas.

Saddam cares not one iota about life..other than his own worthless, bloated sack of protoplasm.

You know goddamn well the m-1 gunners have a bet on who corks the most vehicles. Question is, are they competing with the jets? Seems a bit unfair.

Don't blame us for it. Don't brush your teeth and you get cavities, then you need a root canal. We're just the dentist.

I just hope you have insurance.

The B2 carries (16) 2000lb GPS guided bombs vs. it would take a whole squadron of F15s/F117s to do the same. Those F15s/F117s can now spread the loving to more spots. (4) cruise missles = (1) 2000lb GPS guided bomb. Plus the the 2000 lb'ers are bunker busters that can penetrate 20+ feet of concrete.

You know, Iraq is complaining that one of our missiles caused dammage to a residential neightborhood. A couple comments:

1-MOVE THE HELL AWAY YOU IDIOTS

2-(more serious)-This is the same gov't that is using hospitals as military bases!

If we really destroyed 200 homes in Nasiriya I hope our government has the smarts to build each of those families a brand new, 3,000+ sq. ft luxury pad, with new appliances, furniture, new car in the garage, etc...

I'd like to see iraqi simcity.

"citizens demand more chemical warheads!"

"Your hospital is running low on mortar rounds."

On the plus side you can go pee when it's prayer time and not miss a beat.

Even better, we're sending over Jimmy Carter to build them. :)

Or maybe we can shoot them for their stupidity?
