Woo hoo, got my 5th.

Does each area you go into show how many stars the galaxy holds? Or do some need to be found in other ways?

Yeah, I don't like how that is done. Some of the galaxies have one level and are marked completed after they're beaten. Finishing 3 or 4 levels on some of the galaxies doesn't complete that galaxy, but there is no indication if there are more levels to complete.

I had to sort of cheat by reading an online walk-through over at gamefaqs.com. It seems that some of the galaxies have hidden stars, purple coin collection that'll get you a star and then some of the galaxies will have a comet enter orbit opening another level to beat and to gain a star.

it will have question marks by the stars you haven't fully completed yet and you'll receive a crown when the galaxy is complete.

Well I'm up to 98 stars. The last few hidden/comet stars I need to get are tough! Still haven't beaten bowser yet.

I got to 120 this past weekend. Really fun, and great to play a game that is purely about the gameplay, and to keep it consistently enjoyable the whole way through is very impressive to me.

Now to play through it again...

I barely started playing last night for a bit, got 3 stars. Im having a hard time running around upside-down around the planets. It just feels so strange/weird. Guess I'll get used it it as I play more?

Played about half an hour tonight, just enough to get the last 2 stars in the initial bee level.

funny thing is, it being my second time playing I practiced all my jumps when I first started and then couldn't remember how to spin <doh>.

I beat the game tonight with exactly 61 stars. Went ahead and picked up a few more after that. Some of these purple coin levels are going to be pretty aggravating.

Anyone else face off in the Daredevil comet Bouldergeist boss battle? Holy hell that was tough. Took more about 20 tries to finally beat the SOB thank god I had 25 lives when I started!

Finished the game with 105 stars. I did one of those purple coin challenges, got all 100 coins then before I could touch the star I fell into the black hole like a dope. oops I think thats about it for me. Maybe one day I'll go back and finish it up but I don't have the patience right now for those purple coin challenges.

Ugh, I still haven't beaten normal Bouldergeist. Tried about five times before finally getting frustrated and quitting, all the bosses up until now have been pretty easy. Daredevil Bouldergeist is going to be suck, lol. :p

Is bouldergeist the one who drops rocks from the sky, and you have to kill him with the bomb-boos? I didn't have much problem there, once I figured out not to pick up the bomb boos unless you are already close to Bouldergeist... Blew myself up a few times because I didn't get to him in time!

Loving the game but I'm stuck somewhere around 58 stars and won't be able to play for a few days at least. (out of town) Doh!

Only about 3 or 4 of those purple coin challenges are full stage takes 15 minutes and you can screw it all up 2 seconds type. Most of them were relatively short or even on rails challenges.

The best hint i can give is stay right on the outer edge at all times.....easier to dodge the rocks he throws then charge in real quick with a bomb-boo repeat and rinse and hope not to get hit...

Yeah I actually ended up beating normal and daredevil Bouldergeist without too much trouble, I think it took me like six tries to beat him on daredevil. Once you get a strategy down he isn't too bad. It also helps when you don't give him time to clutter up the area with those rocks he makes rise out of the ground. Still though definitely the toughest boss so far, but was pretty fun too. :)

I take it no normal person is supposed to find all the stars without having some type of strategy sheet in front of them. I've finished the first galaxy and have 3 crowned clusters and 2 uncrowned. After perusing through some star faq list, there doesn't seem to be much of a chance of just happening to find the rest.

Don't worry about finding them all right away, just keep playing the other galaxies and opportunities to get the extra stars just show up. For a lot of the six-star galaxies I don't think the extra stars are available right away, you have to get to a certain point in the game before something happens that lets you get them (for example, you come by Luigi later in the game and he will help you find a few stars).

I'm up to 85 stars and havent even faced the final bowser yet and I'm on the last set of galaxies I figure I'll have almost 100 before I face the final bowser and then after you defeat him you can get the last 15 stars.

i have like 112 stars and these last ones just are not even fun to get. i think once i get 120 i'm never going to play this game again.

the camera/control problems reall become apparent in some of these purple coin star levels.

I thought some of them were hard, but never attributed that difficulty to the camera or control. Some of them require quite a bit of patience so as not to take any stupid risks, and some just require practice until you get it right, like the moving platform ones.

I assume you've made it to the purple star challege in toy time galaxy. If the rest of the game's difficulty was a 5, that level is a 15...a single mistake will kill you.

Even still, the game is WAY easier than sunshine. Anyone can get 119 stars. 112 is childs play.
