finished taris last night, dinged 24 on the get out of here quest. have just under 50K in the bank without any slicing/ah use. do need to read some guides on talent point use though as I haven't spent any yet.

What? No points in the skill trees? Why not? They can always be reset at a skill mentor.

First one is free. Next is like 500, continues to increase but resets once a week to 0.

edit: you are probably paying more in repair bills from not using them

SWTOR is not a game one can just breeze through. I was having quite a time with my level 34 Sorc until I learned how to play properly. Players cannot go spam only dps abilities and expect success. Also, keeping the companions geared up is very important.

I feel like a lot of people who play this game are completely incompetent on how to play their classes. I rape face in PVP with shitty gear vs. level 50s who dont know how to use half their skills.

Well, unless you are playing a pure dps class. I'm finding that I don't have much besides sending my companion in to take initial agro and follow up with as much dps as I can. Has been pretty easy so far compared to what I remember of pure dps classes in WoW and DAoC.

LOL, a lvl 35 smuggler (I think; he had a Wookiee companion) saw me, jumped off his bike, and shot my bike out from under me. I seriously owned the guy -- I completely and thoroughly destroyed him and it was so embarrassing that I felt bad for him for about 10 seconds. He just couldn't do any damage and at one point, thought he would take off but he didn't make it far and turned around and I finished the ownage. He and his companion both beating on me might have done 10% or 20% damage, MAX, and I just sat there spamming tracer missiles and owning him up.

Good luck beating me when I have 8200 health and 2800 armor rating and a companion set to heal mode, Mr. Assassin! LOL!!!!

how do you changet companion modes? i have heard people do it but haven't figured it out.

It's abilities on your companions skill bar (can expand it by pressin the tilde key). Will be two toggle abilities. As an example, Mako (BH companion) has one called "Med Watch" for healing mode and one other for dps.

set the companion bar to appear on the left side then hit the tilde key to swap from the small one you see under his portrait to the full bar, you will see several abilities that can be set to active.

what level were you at that moment?

Outgearing situation, or class mismatch? Or does 1 level make that much difference?

One level doesn't make that much difference. I suspect the fact that I bought a new set of armor, upgraded my companion, and switched her to heal mode pretty much let me just sit there and maximize my DPS. I generally pounded him with tracer missiles but also mixed in a few close attacks (rocket punch, jet boost, etc) when his companion got close, coupled with my favorite "Death from Above" attack.

I play Merc BH too. So much fun.

Death From Above is my fav too, so wish there was a way like a talent to reduce cooldown on it. So ownage for PVP.

I'm older (41) than most gamers and I'll be honest -- my gaming reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I was shocked at how easily I beat this guy. One thing I also forgot to mention was that I rearranged my toolbar to make it more logical in preparation for moving the attacks to my Saitek Pro Gamer unit. I'm hoping that by consolidating all the attacks to one small area, I'll be able to make up for any shortcomings in my own reflexes. 😀

You gotta kill the healer first, even if the healer is a companion.

True, but at least in my case, I don't think he could've beaten my healer fast enough to make a difference especially when I had health packs waiting to be used. I think that's why he probably started panicking; he wasn't making much progress on me and then flipped to my healer and wasn't making much progress on her (she has 7600 health and around 1700 armor, IIRC). Once I hit lvl 40, I intend to completely reoutfit both of us. Most of my current armor is purple; I intend to outfit her in purple gear at that time as well.

Very nicely done! Can you kite damage by moving around? Wondering if he could have done anything different to defeat you, like maybe stun your healer first? Also curious if there are any type of tackle skills to keep the target locked down.

My guesss was the smuggler didn't know half his skills either. I haven't played one, but I've played with enough to realize as someone else pointed out that most players are incompetent. While SWTOR doesn't have as much skills a rift that requires you to mash, it does have quite a bit still. Effective use of counters and interrupts make or break a player in pvp.

I so need to rearrange my toolbar, I thought playing a Sith Marauder would have been easy but for a DPS/Tank there's a lot of items to cast while in battle. Then you have your companion's farking toolbar to figure out, it's almost like playing an RTS 😀 I should break out my old Nostromo speedpad to assist with the key spamming.
