With Vette, just wondering if you felt equipping her with dual pistols or a blaster was better for overall damage?

I only used her (briefly) on Dromund Kaas. She got replaced by Quinn who was replaced by Jaesa, and I still use Jaesa now, so I can't say what's best for Vette unfortunately.

Ah poor girl, kicked to the curb before she got to her prime :)

How about that 2V-R8 droid? The bot is so annoying I almost never want to send it out on missions!

Not entirely. I still visit her daily to get her a good shock :p.

Now that I have a slew of other companions it's like the droid doesn't even exist. I wish I could mute him lol.

End of act 1 for the IA is AWESOME. I just hope I made the right choice. :)
Vector companion is useless for soloing - but great for providing DPS support.

Agreed Columb. I really didn't know which option to take and had to think about it, then after I picked (Defender of the Empire) I wanted to see what would have happened if I had picked a different path and sided with the bad guy. Great Bioware story telling.

My problem with Vector is that he is very difficult to please as a dark side agent. Even while trying to cater to his desires (diplomacy, duty, greater good) - I ended up about even on influence and that Defender of the Empire title cost me about 480 affection with him. At this point it's easier for me just to use Kaliyo or Doc and then give Vector cultural artifacts.

playing dark side is hard.

I ran into the Imperial Agent quest where the dark side resolution was killing a guy in front of his little kid and I had to take the light side answer.

Yep, that's why I knew I would be playing Republic after beta. Played IA in beta and I found it difficult to make the dark side choices a lot of the time. Sounds weird, but morally I could not handle playing Sith. :D

trick is to PVP and space level to get above whatever world you are going to.. still challenging just not "hard" the problem is people in beta kept telling the devs that everything was WAY TOO EASY! so they adjusted..

and IMO over adjusted.. alot of the 4 man heroics are crazy hard borderline unbeatable.. even starting in the L30 range.

BTW why are you not Taris at your level? Taris takes you to 38ish then go to Quesh.

I'm bored with PvP so have no interest in that at my age, space combat I just can't get into in TOR,believed me I've tried,as to Hoth well I give it a shot but if that does not work then bye bye TOR,storyline is only thing holding the game together for me but that can only take you so far.

Shame they don't have feedback button because all I've seen is CS help support for bugs etc....the game still needs a lot of fine tuning with mobs etc...

Another gripe is being knocked of my mount by wildlife animals, what's the point of having a speeder if they can catch you up and knock you off, gets frustrating having to grind and fight just to get to your way point.
Quesh is supposed to be level 36-37 so I should be ok at 37 but hell no I still feel one or two levels too low with some fights.

Btw done Taris its low level area.
Currently 200th in queue again, going to try Hoth 37-41 when I get in and hope it works out.

My girlfriend is the same way. She feels bad about doing some dark side things, so she doesn't do any.

Not me! I've done horrible, horrible things to people. Ya gotta be in the Star Wars mindset: even if someone is functionally the same overall humanoid as you, if they can't best you in a fight they are lesser beings who deserve fewer rights :p

Yeah, I will definitely give it another try once I finish or at least get farther with my Trooper/Commando (only level 21 right now). You are right about being in the mind set; maybe I need drink some hard liquor before playing Sith. :hmm:

Can't believe I am still playing, I am usually bored by now lol. Finally reached lvl 10 on my Trooper and got a congratulatory email from swtor, WTF. Trying out a Sith, got to lvl 3. Had my first duel at lvl 2 vs a lvl 3 and won. He was sitting there challenging peeps and guess he figured he would school me. Yeah for WOW duels. Guess my tactics were superior LOL

Naw, I killed the father and kicked the kid to the curb :D

I realize that it is a fantasy and nothing more. Which is why I can read books and when they switch the viewpoint of the antagonist with some actual character development I can follow along without reservations. I guess some people can't.

You can definitely play a light side imperial agent. A couple of your companions later on are light side and a lot of your dialogue options fall under the "trying to protect your country from those deranged sith nutjobs who are mucking everything up" umbrella.

On the other hand, your starter companion Kaliyo is very dark side, so going dark side makes it easier to gain affection with her.

I hate that. its not to bad with the melee mobs as you can out run then...but if theres a ranged they almost always get a shot off and hit me off the speeder. makes it annoying espcially if your the only one in that area and have to kill every freakin mob.

Quesh is supposed to be level 36-37 so I should be ok at 37 but hell no I still feel one or two levels too low with some fights.

Overall the difficulty scales a bit. i've noticed about level 35 (quesh time frame) that it started getting slwoly more difficult to handle things i used to (ie taking on big groups of mobs). but i just factor in the gear i have probably is a bit old so better gear would help. Same with i just enjoy it as its slowly getting to be more and more of a challenge. ive actually enjoyed it as it makes me think a bit more and actually use my classes abilities. Of course the fights havent been supe rhard or anything but challengeing enough that if i dont pay attention either myself or my companion dies.

So what's going on in the game? Is Sith wildly more popular? What class has turned out to be grossly OP?

Yes. Stealthed idiots who camp along quest routes or at quest objectives and then grief you after they kill you once and then scream "Noob!!!111!!1" Well, this noob doesn't live in mom's basement and has actually seen a woman naked. :D Today, it was along a path to the Rist (?) objectives on Alderaan and yesterday it was at, IIRC, the Czerka factory on Tatooine. I didn't get a look at their levels but I wouldn't be terribly shocked if one or both were level 50.

I personally think they should eliminate stealth or give it to all classes.

This has always been an issue with stealth classes on PvP servers. The solution is generally to get someone with anti-stealth capabilities to help you. Powertechs have a talent/skill for that, though I don't have it yet at 31.

In my experience with PvP servers in other games, you typically need to be running with a group past a certain level in contested areas. If you run into a max level character ganking you, your options are to try and get away/around that character without being seen or ask other characters on your side to help out. In wow you could usually get a few people to switch to their max level toons to take out the ganker(s) then continue on as normal.

In my opinion that's part of what makes PVP servers more fun than PVE. You have more of a community feel and these situations become events that can help add some excitement outside of the standard questing line.

However, if you can't get help and keep getting ganked repeated, that does suck.

Side note about slicing. I dropped it. The nerf is just too bad.

I was rolling around Corellia (47-50) almost alone today and charting profit from slicing from found boxes. In an hour I found 6 boxes for 8,821 total credits. The next hour I found only a few. And this is with no competition in the zone. Just doing one quest gave me about this much.

I think slicing is fine when you're lower level but at or near 50 it has no real value.

Anyway, I can deploy 5 companions so if they change it, I can level it up in a day no problem. :)

Yeah, the slicing nerf was a huge over-reaction to whiners. Slicing only had two purposes, augments and cash and the cash isn't instant. Now that's it's basically just good for augments on a little spare change here and there it's pretty much worthless.

As other have pointed out, slicing's rewards were a static amount, while the cost of things in the general economy (from other players anyway) will continue to go up/change over time. I've heard of people making several hundred thousand or a million+ credits from slicing (and quests/etc.. of course). But that generally takes constant supervision to start missions and at high levels you're paying 10s of thousands of credits for a single skill upgrade and repair bills, so a million credits isn't really that much money.

Ha that would have been cool if they started everyone off on the same few planets as 'neutrals' and through making our decisions for 10 levels would determine if we were dark or light. Then as the game progressed more heavy decisions could sway us back to the other side. Kind of like what Luke went through knowing about his father.

I didn't have a problem with that myself, but I took that as an early indicator that I'll be playing Republic light side when my 5 year old is sitting in my lap watching me play. I have a character just for that.

seems like the Empire (Sith) are way more popular than the Republic... Jedi/Sith on both factions seem to be the more popular classes, but I can't speak for over/underpowered. I haven't gotten a character of his/her starting planet yet.

dont get "dark and light" confused with Repub vs Empire.. they are very different things..

you can be a light side Imperial.. just as you can be a Light Side Republican.. =P

Sith are not universally evil.. nor are jedi universally good..

its not black and white nor should it be..

I have very dark evil chars.. ( on both sides) and very good ones as well.. and shades of grey.. however as a force user you do have to choose full dark or full light for the most parts as sabers seem to have very stringent light/dark requirements as you get higher.. no other class is penalized for playing the neut field though.

I am full dark side with my trooper. It's not like I am being evil, it's more like I'm Jack Bauer; fighting for the greater good but the ends ALWAYS justify the means.

The only good imperial is a dead imperial.
