As a commando, I have a decloaker. It launches little bots and lasts 10 seconds for the area. It has a 20 second CD, so you can keep it up at a decent clip.

I don't pvp much, because I'm Republic and on my server (PVE) they are horrible. How bad?

I was playing my lvl 11 gunslinger alt yesterday and getting 2-4 on me all the time YET I was leading the charts in DPS and actually trying for the objectives despite the fact my teams had lvl 20-38 guys, including gunslingers. Um, check please.

I've never seen 6 people lose to 2 before . . .

So there is a way...what's the range on the area of effect? And does it move with you, or stay where you casted it?

Side note about slicing. I dropped it. The nerf is just too bad.

I was rolling around Corellia (47-50) almost alone today and charting profit from slicing from found boxes. In an hour I found 6 boxes for 8,821 total credits. The next hour I found only a few. And this is with no competition in the zone. Just doing one quest gave me about this much.

I think slicing is fine when you're lower level but at or near 50 it has no real value.

Anyway, I can deploy 5 companions so if they change it, I can level it up in a day no problem. :)

It was not really the world slicing from nodes where the money game from, it was form the missions is where it was out of wack, one of them was 870 for the cost and could get 2-3k for it.

Yes, I know. I made a fortune from the missions. ;)

My point was to see if the world cases still made slicing viable and it is not the case. Once you hit a certain level, slicing is pointless.

From what I can tell it's a large circle (kind of like the radius of my mortar) and it's an area cast so it doesn't move.

It's also ranged cast, so you don't need to be right on the area you want to monitor to cast it.

So you can fire it ahead of you a bit as you move through an area, looking for stealthed pkers?

Seems annoying to have a 10 second duration though. Is the spell game based on all short duration stuff? Are buffs longer lasting at least, and does each class have their own buffs that, put together, combine well/stack?

I used to play WoW but stopped because it got stale for me, is it worth picking this game up or is it more of the same?

I haven't played WoW in a couple years, so my opinion might be stale. To me this game is more about role playing and the store, then grinding. Yes, there are kill x many missions, but they are part of the quest and rarely requiring additional grinding. The majority of the time you are fighting your way to another dialogue. It's nice that you have private instances for major parts of the story. A party member can play along, but you won't have random people getting in the way.

The PvP seems pretty week as it lacks variety. I don't see how I could do it often as I was bored after playing a couple rounds.

Crafting and gathering are similar as you click on a node and get something. However, you are given companions which go off and do the work.

Companions on their own are much more of a group member then a pet to wield. They also are part of the story and make it seem as if someone is playing the game with you. Sounds weird, but it doesn't make the world seem as lonely when playing solo.

I'm only level 15 at this point so the story seems pretty linear, but I'm sure once you get a space craft, things will open up even more.

weird, i have been doing pretty good still, probably not quite as good as before, but had maybe like 2 mission where i did not make the money back in about 45-50 missions

i made 100k today from slicing lockboxes, auctioning off the crit loot, and slicing open resources i find. there seems to be a few more failures now, but i hit a box for over 6k today. slicing and archeology will supercharge my artifice, if all goes to plan.

that just happened to me too. once, deal with it. twice, something's wrong.

So what are the good online resources for this? Just downloaded my copy and gearing up to game.

Following this thread I'm frequently surprised how some of the talent trees build out (Smugglers can heal?) and want to make sure I know where my class is headed.

Yes. Smuggler's split into two classes at level 10.

Scoundrel: Healing/Stealth/Disabler/Closer Range

Gunslinger: Obvious Long range DPS

The Trooper also has a split that can heal...and that is the Commando.

Hello, new to this thread but I am loving SWTOR. Playing a Trooper Commando (combat medic spec) currently lvl 36 on Canderous Ordo. Anyone else playing there?

I'm not going to drop my 400 slicing quite yet in case Bioware has a change of heart and realizes they went a bit overboard with the (admittedly needed) nerf.

My experiences with PVP as republic is 90% loss rate on Voidstar, 50/50 split in Huttball, and 90% win rate on Alderaan. No idea why so terrible at Voidstar and why so dominant on Alderaan but almost every Voidstar I join is in progress because it's a revolving door with people leaving.

I did notice on two on two fight ie my companion and I fighting two level 32s on main storyline he(my companion) died,no way a 32 level droid should beat my 36 level companion with decent gear should add,the droid was not even an elite, anyway the game does have some serious balancing issues.

Do you have your companion running around nude? Have you geared your companion up at all? I started doing a level 47 story line quest segment at 42, when I made it to the final part(fighting 4 47 elite/strongs in a row) I had to make it to 43 before I could clear(which I did with little trouble). Content four levels lower tends to be borderline WoW raid level faceroll. Maybe not as easy as a WoW raid, but close. For non strong/elite mobs at the same level as me I can have my compaions(three out of the six anyway- the only three I use in battle) grab four mobs and walk away and they'll be fine every time. Although, my companions are mainly geared in close to level blues/modded decently reds(a couple epics here and there).

Just to clarify. If I'm doing synth weaving, I should not pick a skill like archaeology and just find stuff myself?

If you want to do decently at Synthweaving, take archaeology and underworld trading. A lot of people are talking about the 'great' money they making slicing, and it may be for barely out of the starter zone areas. Level 40 skill training- about a quarter of a million credits(that includes mount training, level 43 training for me was ~60K for a whopping two skills). Short term Synthweaving isn't a money making trade, it is a big loss. I didn't sell a single item from 0-400 and for a ways after that. Every single item I made I reverse engineered. What did that get me? A whole lot of epic quality patterns that I can make and sell for *real* money(that starts at six figures). How much cash did I invest to get to this point? Over half a million credits easily(perhaps more then a million honestly- would have been *far* more if I wasn't getting all the mats myself). If that is something you are interested in, go for it. If you won't want to drop all of your credits while leveling it up, then you aren't likely to find out it is worth your time(pick another profession if you want some easy money).

I've level 3 gear on my ship, guess I'm used to SWG space combat which is far superior to TOR ,I was almost master pilot in SWG so know I can't be that bad a pilot lol.

Wait until you get to the rank 5 missions. One is complete faceroll, three you have to use your missiles, five you are toggling your shield boost/blast boost constantly, timing out your targetting evasion system, blowing through your 120 missiles way too fast and not unusually, getting killed or failing a mission more often then not. I don't think I failed a single mission or bonus mission, or even came close honestly, until I hit the rank 5 ones, they were a 'wtf' moment for me ;)

I went to Qesh wow that planet is hard, level 36 Cartel mobs killing me like 5 times in 10 mins at my 36 level with good gear,my repairs are costing me a fortune(below 90k now from 150k) and its getting frustrating again, not even seen any Elites yet so no way I can take them on,mobs need to be balanced on this planet because its just fight then die then fight and die again, its feels like a horrible slow grind now and I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my sub.

Money wise not made any on this planet via quests since repairs and deaths are costing a fortune so in the minus for sure.

I so wanted to give the game a chance but its going back to pure frustration even with normal mobs at my level with good gear.

I just fought Captian Jesh Elite killed me 3 times could not heal my companion enough evening on spamming mode,he does too much DPS,back at med centre after another death(lost count now) another 15k repairs ouch,be broke at this rate.

Fed up I guess ,well I left TOR now not sure if I go back.

trick is to PVP and space level to get above whatever world you are going to.. still challenging just not "hard" the problem is people in beta kept telling the devs that everything was WAY TOO EASY! so they adjusted..

and IMO over adjusted.. alot of the 4 man heroics are crazy hard borderline unbeatable.. even starting in the L30 range.

BTW why are you not Taris at your level? Taris takes you to 38ish then go to Quesh.

Hit level 44 last night. I really, really like the way the marauder plays. Mine is probably my favorite MMO character I've ever had, and I have played a LOT of MMO's.

So far I've enjoyed most of the planets. Balmorra was a little meh, but Nar Shadda was godly, and Tatooine and Hoth were both great. Belsavis has an interesting story so far, but the actual location is a little bland looking.

that aint drivers... thats a failing card.

Nah, it's the game, or a driver issue with the game. Lights in a few places are screwed up. It was being discussed in game a few days ago. The speeder pad on Tat right outside the spaceport (Republic) is the only one I can think of offhand but I've seen it 5-6 places.

Glad you are enjoying the game,I'm going to cancel my sub I think just getting too frustrated with dying from normal mobs,I can't even beat three 37 normals with my companion(I'm 37) the 2x sith jedi and imp soldier are just too strong.

Back to EQ2 I think for me at least its free and not frustrating :).

My friend is cancelling his sub too wonder how many more have cancelled their sub?

I really don't know what to tell you, which sucks. You should have no problem taking five even con (not strong or elite) mobs at the same time =/, especially with your companion. I've only gotten frustrated when I had to kill one specific elite who had a level up on me. I eventually got him, though...

its just the game. That or everyone on tat has failing video cards.....Soon as you get away from that area it goes back to normal. like mentioned the tat speeder pad is the most obvious place to see it

With Vette, just wondering if you felt equipping her with dual pistols or a blaster was better for overall damage?
