the big north american tournament started this week and they broadcast live every night starting at 6PM. Looks like it will have 5 three game series every night for the next 9 weeks 5 days a week. Normal schedule is wed-sunday, except no games today.

I have been watching and it is really fun to watch.

thanks for the link

Are any of the videos available w/o subscribing? maybe non-HD

do ppl like day9, husky, hd get paid (whether from sponsors, advertisers on youtube, etc.) for all these videos?

HD and Husky make plenty of money off of youtube views and the advertising attached to their videos

Day9 probably gets enough views to make some side income, but it does not compare to what HD and Husky bring in. HD and Husky's job is basically to be a youtube star and provide Starcraft 2 related content, while Day9 does not attract enough views to be able to make it a full time job.

really? i find day9 to be the most entertaining of the 3 although he always goes off on tangents, which is annoying at times.

HD tries to be funny when he's really not.

husky strikes a good balance between the 2.

Well, you gotta factor in Day9's live daily on bliptv and justintv that apparently gets tens of thousands of viewers every day. Who knows how many more he gets on archived episodes on those two sites. Day9 also releases his dailys as a podcast that probably gets a lot of downloads. I don't think the youtube channel is kept as up to date, or at least it's harder for me to find current episodes on youtube. In any case, it was my impression that Day9 was far and away the most popular caster and general starcraft commentator.

Day9 is very popular, but Husky has a huge casual crowd of people that likes to watch his casts/videos.

Day9 can pull in 10K+ live viewers for his funday mondays, which is really impressive imo.

however, Husky has a youtube subscriber base of 454,438 people that produces tons of views. for example, Husky has posted 8 videos within the last 3 days. the total amount of views for those videos is 831,379. the ad revenue Husky generates from his content is much higher than Day9's.

Does anyone have a link about the hallucination drama?

I've been out of touch with the community the last few months and watched a random Day9 daily where he said to look it up but I can't find it.

I love going phoenix vs's zerg. It causes the zerg to go nuts on spores, then typically techs to hydras. By this time I have collosi's in progress.

Fenix + ground + collosi = nom nom zerg

Or the Zerg builds some spores, expands, goes mass roaches and just kills the P :)

Are you talking about Huk vs Idra? Not a whole lot to it - Huk was going to lose a game in a Best of x series and made a bunch of last ditch hallucinations. Idra saw that "army," didn't realize that they were fakes and immediately gg'ed without attacking. Huk then trolled Idra in the next game about it.

Yeah people often quit for stupid reasons. But its kinda lame for a high class player to leave when he sees a hallucination army.

That's Idra for you. He ragequited against Jinro in the GSL within seconds once Jinro got a bunker up on him (Jinro was 1 rax expanding so not really committing too much).

Then at Dreamhack, he loses a close game to MC and then 6 pools in rage, obviously losing.

Up for a game shorty, what's your handle?

after getting into masters. The only difference, in team games, is longer wait time, and more premades...

We REALLY need some sort of penalty for folks who manually quit in the first 30 seconds of play.
Maybe you cant start a new game for 5 minutes.

Don't they get a loss when they quit? In 1v1 that's penalty enough IMO.

I suppose more penalty might be warranted in the case of team games where someone leaves their partner to an almost certain death.

No, in fact if their team goes on to win they get points for it.

Play 1v1 as the game was intended and you won't have that problem
