Tony continued to show his grasp of the English language when he told Melfi he's "not undeterred by this" ;)

I don't know, call me unimpressed but I just didn't like it.....

I was a faithful watcher for the first few seasons, however last season was so awful I stopped watching a few episodes in...just seems to get repeitive rather quickly....

The upcomming shows seem like they should be better, especially with Buschemi in them....however this opener IMHO wasn't that great.

This definitely looks like a better season than #4, which felt like kind of a letdown. I never thought Joey Pantoliano should have been in the show. He just didn't seem to fit in.

Did anyone else think it was un-Paulie of Paulie to reconcile with Christopher? I always thought they were a riot together (the episode in the snow had me rolling) but I don't remember Paulie forgiving people. Does anyone else think we haven't seen the last of the Russians?

1)I liked last season. It was a bit slow but it had some great highlights. I thought Joey Pants was a great addition (and removal ;)) from the show
2) I don't think that will be the last of Paulie and Chris' feuding. I think it's going to build up to something more serious. All the previews for this season had quotes of Christopher saying "f the family", etc.
3) I really hope the russians return. The Pine Barrens was quite possibly my favorite episode ever. I have a feeling that the dude from that episode will return and it will tie in with my #2 above. Talking that much about the pine barrens in the first episode of a new season? Sounds like a set up for his return!

David Chase has been quoted as saying that both Furio and the Russian are both gone for good.

I was hoping the Russian dude came back. I would really like to see how the directors handled that one. Pine Barrens is probably one of my favorite episodes as well, and it was directed by Buscemi himself.

Loved the "You want me to send you a Whitman's sampler?" line... Soprano's always has great dialogue... wasn't a letdown at all.

It was partially fan-service I imagine. Plus it setup the Chris-Paulie feud quite nicely.

I was cracking up when paulie shot the waiter. I'm still laughing about it.

The image of Tony smoking a cigar and holding the AK47 was awesome, I'd set that as my wallpaper if I could get a good screencap.

I liked the episode, just had a chance to watch it last night. Its gonna be good with Steve Buscemi... hopefully this season will be better than season 4.

I wish I had that hour of my life back that I have spent reading your posts... :D

Really though, I find it hard to believe that anyone can't find something enjoyable about that show unless you have huge objections to watching people with very low morals on TV...of course I don't know how you could watch any TV if that is the case.

It's not a show you can watch one episode of and decide you love or hate it. I rented the first season and was half way through it before I was hooked. Some of the episodes are slow, but then you get the ones like in Season 4 where Ralphie dies that pick up the pace.

Electric Amish doesn't like most anything that any other person would enjoy.
If there were a show about grass growing or rock examining, he'll probably be the biggest hardcore fan. :)

Hell yeah! Geology kicks ass! :p

It's not that it was too difficult, more like too simple. It's one of those shows that requires you to care about the characters. Hell, I don't care about real people, let alone TV characters. It was slow, boring, and pointless.

That was freakin' classic. I've been that close to a brown bear once when I was a child (8 or 9 years old-can't remember exactly) and it scared the heck out of me but I didn't cry for my mommy or run screaming. I actually held up a boat oar and told it to "Git" which it actually did. Then I ran up to the house with my sister (she was frozen stiff).

Yeah, that's good film-making. I kind of liked the quick focus on the grenade in the closet. That was definite foreshadowing, that baby is going to get used on somebody this season.

I liked that as well. As if everyone has an AK-47 and a live hand grenade in their closet.

Well, I have a Chinese knock off of the AK but it is semi-auto only. I'm sure Tony Soprano has one that is full auto though. I don't have any live hand grenades though as I'm sure most people don't.

Come on. I'll show you mine if you show me yours!:D

can you legally own an AK47?

Also, i'm 99.9% sure that the AK they have is illegal.. but they are just flailing it around everywhere as if they don't care.

Even outside, in clear view of the neighbors, they have an AK47. Having a gun out alone should be enough for a police call, but seeing an AK47 would only amplify.
