I saw several young kids (~4-5 yr old) during the showing I went to and they were with their parents.

What the hell?

lol at the people walking out. seriously, what do you expect from a movie called 'sin city' ? a lemonade picnic in the park on a bright and sunny day ? seriously, going to the website, reading a review, hell even watching the commercials should tell you all that you need to know whether it is for you or not.

Just saw the movie today. Good movie. I didn't think it was too much violent. Can't wait for the Director cut/Unrated version on DVD. Overall, I like it.

Question for those who watch the movie already: did I see Kevin <Wood> character in the farm when the cop <Willis> followed Nancy and that bad guy? Why didn't Kevin do anything? And the bad guy with yellow skin looked just like the guy in StarTrek Nine or so.

Why did Kevin attack Marv when he came to the farm then? And I'm not sure of the timeline. Which scene happened first?

he attacked him because regardless, the guy is still a threat. kevin had no business with hartigan, so no reason to bother him. also, the hartigan thing occured before marv's story. in fact, you see marv at the bar when hartigan is looking for nancy, and we all know what happens to marv. the three stories (excluding hartnett's 'salesman' parts) dont occur in continous order. rodriguez took a page out of "his brothers" book and had the stories mixed/jumbled around.

The movie is worth seeing just on the merit of Jessica Alba doing a stripper dance in chaps. God damn.

They are identical twins and they both are hookers but Goldie is a high class one. Goldie thought she could get protection from the strong guy <Mickey Rourke> character.
The saleman <Josh Hartnett> is really a hired killer. That's why you see him at the very end, at the elevator, offering cigarrett for his victim before the kill, same as the very first scence of the movie.

and the neat twist is that he's hired by the people he kills. the lady in the beginning is called 'the customer' and he's 'the salesman'. thats why he says: "ill cash her check in the morning."

Anyone else find it usual how all these people survived bullets to the head?

Anyway, did anyone see people walking out of the theater? I saw this really old woman escorting her even older mother down the stairs while all the violence was happening. It sucked for them because they took forever to climb down the stairs. :D
- they were shots to the body, maybe except for Benecio which was an entirely dumb segment after his head was severed...

- haha @ the old ladies... someone played a cruel joke on them...
Didn't the ferengi and that big guy [avenging Goldie] get shot in the head?

I think Hartigan's partner wanted the police to stay out of the governor's way, including whatever the gov's son was doing. Hartigan was so pressed to stomp his feet of justice down on the guilty person that the only way to stop him was to shoot him. I don't think they said anythign in the story and I'm just making guesses, but I think the police/governor situation is kinda like the polic/Old Town situation. They turn their backs on what the other is doing and it's all peachy.

I could care less if Tarantino's name was on this or not, I still liked it. In fact, I forgot that Tarantino was part of the director's.

I think your answer lies in anxi80's post.

What I don't understand though, is that Hartigan was freed after agreeing to everything against him. I thought the governor wanted to lock him up in prison and suffer. Unless the Big Yellow Bastard did some behind the scenes dealing to let Hartigan out, I don't see how he was let free after so many years in solitude.

The scene at the beginning was basically from "A Dame To Kill For," if I have my story arcs right. So they are already set up to do a prequel, if nothing else.

I thought the movie was horrible.

1) Way too violent for its own good. Don't understand why it wasn't rated NC-17. The ball ripping was pretty much the kicker for me.

2) Very confusing, honestly I don't want to have to read a comic book to understand the movie.

3) Acting was cliched and boring. But I can't expect much from the cast.

4) Made me go to Church :(

The one thing I can give it is that it was visually stunning. Besides that, a real stinker.

Jessica Alba also looks like a 6 year old in a womans body. Give me Aishwarya Rai or that Alexis Bledel chick any day.

1) go watch Harry potter.

2) I cant help you with that, the movie was simple to understand...

3) go watch Harry potter, that will keep you glued to your seat with excitement.

4) No wonder...

Lol.. yeah.. u are a freak..

;) then again we all have different opinions.. right? .. right..

I saw it today - I thought it was incredibly striking and different (and, in its own way, emotionally powerful). What a kick in the head! Although it was incredibly violent, I didn't find most of the violence especially disturbing.

I was impressed with the way the film made me care about its characters, even the ones who were endlessly violent (especially Marv). I was just blown away by Mickey Rourke - just a brilliant performance. I didn't especially care for Elijah Wood - I never do - and I thought Michael Madsen and Clive Owen were a little uninspired, but the rest of the cast were brilliant. Even Jessica Alba was decent.

I can see being bothered by the violence, although I wasn't, but I don't see how anyone can argue this movie wasn't well-written and compelling. IMO anyone who finds it too confusing either isn't paying attention or has a seriously limited attention span.

Here are some of my opinions:

1. If anyone of you think this movie is too violent, you need to see the imported action flicks.

2. The movie is good, just a bit over the top about the explotions and car chases. I think the scence where Rourke character got run over by Goldie twin sister, not once but several times, and he still able to walk away. The Owen character got blow up several times but only a few scratches here and there.

Other than that, this movie is very darn good, worthy of admission price for sure.

<<-------hoping the DVD will have Unrated/Director Cut and even more violent and mayhem..hehehe.

Not for me, i kept thinking how much influence Tarantino had on this movie. It was so Pulp Fiction/Four Rooms like with all the scenes jumping around. Only after watching the movie did i find out that he only directed a very small part of it.
