The saleman <Josh Hartnett> is really a hired killer. That's why you see him at the very end, at the elevator, offering cigarrett for his victim before the kill, same as the very first scence of the movie.

and the neat twist is that he's hired by the people he kills. the lady in the beginning is called 'the customer' and he's 'the salesman'. thats why he says: "ill cash her check in the morning."

That doesn't make any sense. The people he kills don't seem to know him when he kills them. If they hired him in the first place, they'll of course know him.
