I might have to eat my words soon. Things are looking good for the release of the Nyko guitar tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed! I know everyone is looking forward to the stompbox. I mean who WOULDN'T want a stompbox that does nothing except switch between Rock band and Guitar Hero mode?

what does that mean... switches between rock band and guitar hero mode? meaning the guitar is compatible with both games?
I assume this is a wired guitar?

Let us know how good the guitar is 🙂

Well the nyko guitar got delayed until mid-may on amazon. At least for me. So I might just cancel it. Honestly, the bass guitar is kind of boring compared to the others and there's no solo mode... I'm starting to think I'm better of saving the $60 and just getting mario kart wii and two wheels.

Yup me too ... no Nyko guitar from Amazon. I have two PB guitars but they are crap. I was going to try to mod one of the RB guitars if I got the Nyko. My plan was to put switches in the strum bar (good video of it on youtube) then I wanted to splice into the select button and add one on the neck of the guitar ... since overdrive never seems to work by tilting the guitar. A button up by the frets would be great IMO. ah well ... I thought gamestop said 4/22 release. That probably changed too.

HERE is another guitar for Rock band. This one looks a lot better than the nyko guitar. Late April release on this one though. This company claims this guitar was reviewed in 07/07 .... why is it still not out??
"July 2007 PSM Magazine Special Anniversary Edition Review Give This Product 9 out of 10 Score!!"

I might try to get a hold of them tomorrow. This might be a better way to go.

Next week's DLC is:

"Call Me" by Blondie (master)
"Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd (master)
"Message in Bottle" by the Police (master)

lol... the Blondie song is something I never would've thought of probably but i bet it'll be fun. I'll pick up that one and Simple Man... Message in a Bottle I'll probably pass on, I can always throw in GHII if I really want to play it.

I want Simple Man and Message in a Bottle. I don't think my fiancee particularly likes "Call Me", but she's always clamoring for some new female vocal songs so it may be a three song week for me.

Where are the Rolling Stones songs that were in the DLC leak... darn it.

I picked up GH 3 and now have a wireless guitar. I thought I would hate the clicky strum bar like I did for GH 2 but I actually prefer it to the RB guitar.

GH3 the game though isn't as good as Rock Band and the DLC is more expensive which makes 0 sense.

Yep...on both. Can't stand the RB guitar.

In regards to GH3 - was made by a different developer. It really lacks "fun" to it...for some reason it just didn't seem as fun as GH2, and definitely can't touch RB. The only song I play GH3 for now is Stricken and the Halo theme.

Oh - just got my drum kit in yesterday...they're a LOT harder than I thought. Good god I suck lol. 🙁

GH3 came out and had established DLC prices before RB was even out. RB then made sure theres was lower. Makes sense to me.

Actually I thought GH3 was a very fun game.... it didn't start to feel "lacking" to me until I got Rock Band. I think it's more a testiment to how good Rock Band is, than it is a knock against Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero is still a very fun game, but Rock Band just feels much more complete when you add in the drums and vocals and the ever increasing amount of DLC available. Plus the songs on the whole are a lot more fun in Rock Band (IMHO)... because they are whole band songs and not just guitar songs... it seems like they have a lot more songs that are meant to be fun and songs that everybody knows rather than songs with no purpose other than to make your fingers cry (like Raining Blood, and TTFAF).

I'm starting to babble, so to skip to my point: It isn't that GH III sucks or is not fun, it's just that Rock Band is that good.

I downloaded simple man, i love skynard but the song for me was just kinda meh....

I also got the new motley crew single and for .99 im kinda digging it...at least there's something to do when I get stuck on bass

Spot on.

GH3 was pretty awesome then I got rock band and it was awesomer * 2. I just wish it was more portable and they'd release more 90s music.

to me, it's one of the little things that makes Rock Band more fun: the ability keep gaining overdrive while in overdrive. it just makes sense.

And I'm waiting for Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer.

Well, I bought a Harmonix PS3 guitar and it was damaged. I returned it and then looked online, and noticed the Nyko Frontman was "shipping" from Amazon. Ordered one, and it is actually en route! FedEx lists the package as being 43lbs though. WHAT?! I hope there's a decimal place error there. Will report back soon. TAC guitar has dual struts, but I don't think those are necessary for bass guitar really, and the Nyko seems to have received favorable reviews. The idiots at IGN reviewed it but completely missed out on the key feature of being able to play both games. They reviewed it and concluded that it is a good 3rd party guitar but not worth the $10 cost reduction compared to the guitar hero guitar. Uh, hello?! You can't use that in Rock Band, morons...

One nice feature is that you get a USB cord and can charge the guitar while using it similar to the controller.

Anyway, will play with it this weekend and report back.

Full album downloads announced, first one is Judas Priest's "Screaming for Vengeance" available next week. They also state that The Cars' self titled album and the Pixies' "Doolittle" will be coming out in the following months.

Kinda disappointed that Who's Next was not announced and they also say that the Nirvana "Nevermind" album was just a rumor.

Yeah just was gonna post this. I can't wait for the Pixies full album. Cars will be fun too. I like some priest but I won't get the whole album.

So the albums are $15... is there any way to extract the songs onto a CD? $15 seems like a lot for 10 tracks... the Boston pack was a better value, IIRC.

Track Listing for the Judas Priest album:
"The Hellion" ? 0:41
"Electric Eye" ? 3:39
"Riding on the Wind" ? 3:07
"Bloodstone" ? 3:51
"(Take These) Chains" (Bob Halligan, Jr) ? 3:07
"Pain and Pleasure" ? 4:17
"Screaming for Vengeance" ? 4:43
"You've Got Another Thing Comin'" ? 5:09
"Fever" ? 5:20
"Devil's Child" ? 4:48

I only recognize "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by name so I'll probably grab that and be done with it. I've never really been too interested in full albums like many others have been. No offense to Judas Priest, but I'd much prefer to have 10 singles from a variety of bands that I've heard before than a bunch of JP songs that have never been on the radio. But hopefully this will please fans of the band.

Albums aren't $15, *this* album is $15. They stated that there would not be a standard price for albums, but rather that the price would be based on the number of songs with a bulk discount applied instead of paying $2 per song... which is what individual songs will cost. The boston pack was a phenominal deal considering how good and well known all those songs are. $15 will be a good deal for fans of the band or of this album. I might buy another thing coming and hellion/electric eye... but probably not for a while....

Holy shit, I just played this today for the first time. Probably spent two hours on drums and maybe a half an hour on the bass; I can kill Say It Ain't So on Hard on the drums now, and playing The Hand That Feeds on the bass is fucking awesome (and fucking impossible on the drums, even on medium). 10/10, I have to fucking buy this now.
