Same here, the game is a hell of a lot of fun..

For sure, I wouldn't have played it to death were it not fun!

for those that have made significant progress through 'campaign' :

gun advice? I'm currently running with the shotgun, sniper rifle, and handgun. Upgrade what I have, or save for better guns? This was always a tough decision in RE4 as well.

Also, inventory space! I have 9 god damn slots. When do I get more, how much will it cost?

Managing inventory space in RE games has always been a giant headache for me, I'm OCD when it comes to that.

You never get more inventory space, nor do you really need it. First, you don't need to carry 4 guns, I typically have 2 on me and if I'm playing solo my partner either has just a pistol or a pistol and a sniper rifle that I can "borrow."

Personally I ended up using the Sig P226 and M3 shotgun the most, both are the "high damage" weapons for their class. I didn't really use a machine gun, sniper rifle, and Magnum (for me) is only for really tough guys.

I also like the M3 and Sig P226. THey carry less ammo but are more effective so it balances out. I feel like machine guns waste too much ammo. I've only found the sniper rifles to be effective in just a few scenarios.

Sniper rifles are best for getting the blue BSAA emblems...other than that there's only a few times in the game I used 'em.

I decided to start playing the game on Veteran difficulty last night, I'm not going to use unlimited ammo and I'm going to try to play with non-stacked weapons as much as possible (no magnum except for a few select bosses). It's not too terribly difficult thus far, only got to the train yard though.

I understand them not wanting the MG's to be too powerful as it'd make the game really simple but come on, when fully upgraded the most powerful MG (AK-74) does just over half the damage of the most powerful pistol. That's ridiculously unrealistic. Meanwhile the SW500 Magnum does double the damage of the most powerful sniper rifle...

I know it's not at all a "realism" game but these figures are horribly skewed. They need to split MG's into "assault rifles" and SMG's and adjust the damage accordingly.

Me too. I finished the game twice over the weekend. I played it the second time to collect all the emblems. I love the sniper rifle. It's fun snipping head shoot at zombies standing around. My primary weapon is a fully upgraded oiginal hand gun, fully upgraded shotgun, and a sniper rifle. I think I am going to replay RE4 again.

I just got this and have been playing it. I don't recommend this for anyone playing it single player. It seems clearly meant for coop and seems like it would be much more fun that way. I never know when I'm going to be able to play or for how long so it is hard to set up coop games.

It is still ok but the boss fights were clearly meant for 2 people.

I like playing it single player so I can go at my own pace and not based on how fast someone esle wants to go. My wish is that you could play it single player without having the extra AI character follow you around. It would be slightly scarier if you were alone and you wouldn't have to keep looking out for your AI partner.

K I gotta fess up, I thought the demo was the worst ever and for sure thought this game would be bad

Well I now have about 35 hours in the game played with my friend on coop and all achievements on 360.

The game was so fun in coop, there were times of frustration and swearing to times of crying from laughter at deaths to calling each other names for making stupid mistakes.

Quite a unique and fun coop experience imo!

They did a good job at adding a high level of replay value to this game, which is impressive given the linear nature of the game.

I'm on my 3rd playthrough right now and I'm not even beginning to get tired of the game. All of the extra costumes, no ammo limit, unlimited ammo, upgraded guns, etc that you can use plus trying to get achivements add tons to the game.

That completionist in me wants to get them all.

I've got 3 left to get, completing the game on Veteran and Pro and fully upgrading all the weapons, almost done with vet and weapons.

Yay I finally had time to beat it. Wow, what a great game. I started playing again right after finishing it the first time - didn't get all the BSAA emblems the first time :(

I'm currently on my 5th playthrough...on professional difficulty, it's TOUGH! Pretty much 1 hit and you're dead, especially with an AI teammate, on pro he seems even more inept. And you MUST use unlimited ammo with powerful gun, enemies don't drop ammo, 90% of the ammo that's normally lying around is gone, etc. I wanna say in chapter 1 I picked up pistol ammo 4 times total, no other ammo at all. It just doesn't exist!

I tried playing both of the levels again in the demo. The controls...are just too bad. Once you're used to the silky smoothness of Gears of War, it's hard to go back to the bathtub with legs controls of Resident Evil.

I want to like this game, I really do...I'm a huge fan of RE, owning all of the main ones, beating them to get the unlimited Rocket Launcher, beating RE3 Mercs with Nikolai, beating RE4 on Professional with no cheats, etc. But, I just cannot get into RE5. It's too far behind the times.

There was a pro difficulty in RE4? I remember Hard, didn't remember Pro.

Yep, there was a professional mode in RE4. I never actually played it but it's there in the menu options after unlocking it. I don't remember how it's unlocked though...

Switch the controls to Type I (Resident Evil 4 style) if you haven't already. It's the best control configuration in my opinion.

Hrm, I might have to go find that. I beat Hard a ton of times, it wasn't too difficult, never saw Pro though.

I like control Type D the most, I tried A and it feels weird.

You played RE4 right? Because Type A is identical to RE4. Unless you thought RE4's controls were weird too...

I thought the same, but when you actually play the retail game the controls seem to fit better, especially as you get better weapons/upgrades

If you can borrow it or rent it, I think you will change your mind, the demo levels were just horribly picked IMO

Agreed the demo levels don't give you enough of the game to be able to really get settled into the controls. They're a piece of cake once you get used to them.
