I don't have this yet but I will inevitably be purchasing it, and will probably play through with two different friends. I'm curious about how the saving and equipment works with co-op. If I play as Sheva with a friend, do I still get to unlock weapons and keep them on my account? Is there also a save on my Xbox/gamertag with our progress, or is it just saved on my friend's account?

Co-op works just like single player. There are "checkpoints" that it frequently saves at, and at the end of every chapter it creates a save. Now, if you host the game you can start at your last checkpoint (and whoever your co-op partner is will join there) OR you can start at the begninning of any chapter. They're well spaced enough that you can start pretty much anywhere.

If you play as Sheva it keeps track of your equipment just like SP. There is a storage feature that allows you to keep/hoard all the stuff you've found/purchased, when you start a game you set up your equipment from there.

I played through co-op with two different people as well and it's not a hassle.

So if I play co-op and my friend is the host, are the chapters we complete "unlocked" on my save as well?

Yes

*edit* You can also play as the "joining" player in co-op (Sheva) and get to a checkpoint in the middle of a chapter, then quit and host as Chris and start from the same place with your other friend. Doesn't matter who you are playing as when you get to said checkpoint/save, it picks up there whether you change characters or change to single player.

Yes

You can complete every single chapter/achievement unlock etc via coop in this game, you never have to step foot in the single player.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Probably will be a while before I pick this up but my curiosity has been satisfied. :)

Shameless bump...anybody still playing this game any more?

Just unlocked all the chars in Mercenaries mode. I'd have to say my favorite is either Chris Safari (best hangun and shotgun and two rockets!) or Midnight Wesker. I fail to see how anyone can do well with say Sheva BSAA or Jill BSAA. How do you effectively deal with the big baddies with just a machine gun or sniper rifle?

Anyway, does anyone have it on the 360 and would be interested in playing some Mercs Co-op?

I loved Jill S.T.A.R.S. (although I used her while another guy used Wesker Midnight, awesome combination), although her with the purple suit was rough. Wesker Midnight is the most overpowered character, look at the leaderboards, most of the high scored are with one of the two Weskers, and the majority of those are Midnight.

I went potluck with Mercenaries partners, probably played 10+ times before I found a decent partner and he and I beat every level in one go with an "A".

I just played several hours of Mercs last night. Used Chris Safari and Wesker Midnight. Love shotguns... probably why I like those 2. Weskers Hydra does a heck of a lot of damage and I like having rocket launchers with Chris Safari.

I think it's Wesker S.T.A.R.S. that has the Hydra, midnight has the Samurai Edge and the SW500.

It's Wesker STARS that has the Hydra. (Edit: kabob beat me to it! :p) I don't really care for Wesker STARS, since the Hydra has a small clip and an insanely long reload time, and his magnum is the weakest of the magnums. Wesker Midnight might only have a handgun and a magnum, but it is the 5000 firepower magnum. Serious business.

But yes, I love Chris Safari. The SIG is an ultra powerful hand gun (480 firepower), and the M3 is the best shotgun IMHO. The rockets are for any big baddies that come at you, like chainsaw guys!

There's two pistols that are only available on Mercenaries, not sure who carries them. One is the Samurai Edge (which is the special pistol from the first RE) and the other...I can't remember, I think it's the Beretta Px4, I noticed both on the stats page telling me I had X kills with them. I think S.T.A.R.S. Wesker has the Edge, not sure who has the Storm.

Jill BSAA has the Px4. It has 300 power, 1.7 reload time and a critical chance of 87.5%.

That being said, I still don't get how folks can play as a character without power weapons. That 87.5% critical chance isn't going to help with a red executioner coming your way! Neither are wimpy machine guns or sniper rifles...

Oh, and Sheva Tribal has to be the worst char. Big baddies just laugh at those puny arrows.

I believe the arrows do 1000 dmg or something like that, but I agree, Sheva Tribal seems very underpowered. Once again, in co-op it's all about having a good team. Yeah, you want at least one character with power weapons but the other you want to have crowd control, and using different ammo for said weapons is nice (two characters with shotguns or two characters with magnums...well...it sucks dividing ammo). The MP5 has penetration although crappy damage, but we tore through the majority of the levels with myself using Jill S.T.A.R.S. and the other guy on Midnight Wesker.

I feel like Legolas from LotR sniping orcs raiding Helms Deep.

Feels so good when you finally hit em... no matter how many shots it took.

Wesker (Midnight) is definitely the best character, he's got decent crowd control (grenades and proximity mines), great melee attacks (cobra strike is a one hit kill) and AMAZING power for bosses (magnum) with a decent handgun to boot.

Sheva (Tribal) is awesome to play, not very powerful but very fun, definitely possible to get A/S ranks with her, just a little more difficult. Chris (Safari) is awesome for coop but really bad for solo, Chris (STARS) is your best bet until you can unlock wesker for solo, his grenade launcher is pretty cool and his magnum, although not as powerful as Wesker's, is great for dealing with the big baddies.

I must say, after playing a bit last night, I'm liking Sheva (Tribal) a bit more. My accuracy is about 60% with the longbow, but it's a one-hit kill on anything that isn't a boss. She...kind of sucks on bosses though, since all she has is the grenade launcher. I was able to get an S rank on the Public Assembly and the Experimental Facility level with Sheva (Tribal).

It's funny looking at the leaderboards...Wesker (Midnight), Wesker (Midnight)...Sheva (Tribal)! (on Experimental Facility), Wesker (Midnight), Wesker (Midnight).

Anybody want to try some co-op Mercs on XBOX Live sometime?

This game was great, but I've pretty much maxed it out. I've unlocked most of the achievements (and the rest are obscure ones that I don't care about), and I've gotten SS rank on most/all of the Mercenaries maps. There's not much left for me to do...
