What's TRU and can I do said thing online??

*edit* Wow I'm stupid. Toys R Us. 2nd question stands though, is this an online deal or an in-store only?

The demo looked good but I personally didn't like how the controls were set up. Like the IGN review said, they do feel dated. Not as tight as they could have been.

WTF, one of the guys on my buddies list is playing this right now...he's already beaten the game too!

I always felt like that was one of the fun parts of the game. Having a bit of slow reaction time by the characters really put you on edge. If it was too fast, taking on multiple enemies wouldn't be as much of a challenge.

Man, EuroGamer gave it a 70, 10 lower than any other reviewer on Metacritic...yet they say the same thing. Guess it just bugged 'em more.

My response to this is very simple: they could just add more enemies, or have them hit you from multiple angles. I don't think anyone's interested in it becoming a Gears of War clone, but the mechanics have clearly aged enough that some people are getting tired of them.

Im still iffy about this game. I played to demo again last night to see if would change my mind, i actually played the 2nd stage for the first time and it wasn't too bad. I might just end up purchasing a used copy a couple months down the line.

Someone on hardforum mentioned that BestBuy will have it for $40, but I've not seen that anywhere. Anyone else heard that news?

People are going to try to price match the TRU price, and sometimes best buy will match giftcards and just take it off the price (making it $40). It's YMMV though and not every place will offer that.

I haven't played the demo yet, but the IGN review confused me. They go on and on about how its a departure from survival horror, its more action based now, etc....isn't that what RE4 was? Did the reviewer just never play RE4, or is it even a big departure from that?

Aaaaahh, that I hadn't thought of. Sounds less than likely to work though, I might give it a whirl. Problem is finding an ad that shows the TRU offer, do they just call to verify?

I checked back at Metacritic, it's back to 87 overall although I noticed that all of the "big" names that have reviewed it seem to give it 90 or better (minus EuroGamer, but I dunno if that's big) while the smaller ones go back and forth.

Play the demo yourself to see what you think of it. Most major gaming sites and magazines are paid by the companies to give favorable reviews to their products. See: GameSpot, Kane and Lynch review.

The demo has been up since late January/early February...don't trust some paid schill about whether to purchase a game or not; try it for yourself!

Yup, wonder how big an install to my HD would be for the 360?

Probably about 6GB.

Hrm...where's the chart that tells the loading speed benefits? Wonder how much it'll help.

Also, Eurogamer says the PS3 textures are a little jagged, but only after they zoomed in by 200%, so I think in reality it'll be unnoticible to the normal gamer.

If it's anything like Street Fighter 4, the install on the PS3 will make it load just as fast as the 360 version from the disc.

I wonder how much faster the 360 version will be if you install it to the HDD...most games have shown little to no benefit in speed, though the benefit of not having the jet engine DVD drive spinning is good enough for some. :)

Okay...but I don't really see how, since between fights, the announcer says his spiel, then it jumps immediately to the fight.

So RE5 is coming out this Friday? That is unusual...a Friday release. Usually games come out on a Tuesday.

But hey! It's Friday the 13th! Maybe it's a marketing ploy? Maybe Jason is a secret boss in the game?! :Q

So I played the demo - I would say the controls are even LESS action-y and more classic Resident Evil-y than RE4. The reviewer of this game REALLY did not play RE4. Who picked this guy for the job?

the load time where it shows X vs Y hangs like 3-4 seconds longer on Xbox360 than it does on PS3.

on the other hand, if you DONT have it installed on PS3, OR you do but the person you are facing online doesn't, it takes like 3-4 seconds LONGER on ps3 than Xbox360 to load.

Mandatory PS3 install means it should be quicker than a non-installed 360 game I suppose.
