Donald Trump said Monday night on Fox News that he recommended Ohio for the 2016 GOP convention. Which is odd, since Cleveland was selected more than two years ago.
People fought very hard that it be in Ohio. It's a tremendous economic development event and you look at the way it's going so far, it's very impressive. I wanted it to be here. The Republicans wanted it to be here," Trump said. "I recommended Ohio."
The Republican National Committee announced its final decision July 8, 2014 a good 11 months before Trump threw his hat in the ring.
Whats more, the New York Times, citing two anonymous aides, reported earlier this month that Trump at one point didnt know the convention had to be in Cleveland.
At one point, two aides confirmed, Mr. Trump was not even aware that the event had to be held in Cleveland, a decision made almost two years ago by the Republican National Committee, the Times reported.
