You can, but it seems to be a bit picky when you can do it. Have to be somewhat facing or looking at the person you try to say it to when pressing B.
 
Can you only capture the wild horses that have some sort of icon on the map? I found 2 wild horses while out running around and tried to capture one. I lasso it and then like a second later the lasso is off it and it's running away again. kept trying and always got the same result.

I got a quest to pick flowers for some to give to his wife. I need 3 each of 3 different flowers. I can find feverleaf or something like that around the McFarlane ranch area, but I haven't seen any other flowers outside that, and even these seem extremely rare. I haven't been very far around the ranch and Armadillo though.

I lassoed a dog and it started attacking me. Was kind of funny. It started chasing me too so I ended up kicking it and it stopped attacking me, but it still followed me for a bit and was barking at me.

I rode into Armadillo earlier and people started screaming and running. I'm looking around for something going on and didn't see anything and then they all stopped and everything was back to normal. Were the afraid of me? I've been trying to be "good" and only killed 1 "good" guy by accident.

when i load the game, my dead eye meter is like at 0 or very low. is this a bug?

I wish the music played more often too.

There's just too much stuff that isn't discussed in the game or the manual that I think you should be told.

There's several challenges for "Ride X distance" or other things, if you complete them it doesn't appear/dissappear, it will show the next level of said challenge though.

Yeah but if the challenge completes you at least see the XP bar. I don't get anything, just the black box in the top left saying there are new challenges.
 
So far so good, but I've died several times to things that I found fairly obnoxious. Took my first bounty mission after getting the lasso, but I still can't figure out how to capture the bitch. Yanked him off his horse. He stood up and shot at me. Lassoed him again, went up to him, he stood up and shot at me some more. Lassoed him again. Same goddamn thing. I still have no fucking clue how I'm supposed to capture the guy rather than just shoot him in the melon.

Then I was in Armadillo and a woman was screaming for help. The last time that happened I didn't get there in time and the chick got stabbed. OK, lesson learned, be faster on the draw. So I immediately shot the guy. Some guy standing 10 feet away then started shooting at me so I killed him too, figuring it was his buddy. Well then it tells me I have a bounty on me. WTF was I supposed to do?

Grrrrr.

Otherwise seems pretty fun. Didn't have any problem Bonnie's horse race or herding. I like the default riding control, seems to work pretty well so I'll stick with horse relative.

When Lassoing you have to hold down the left trigger, even after they're flopping on the ground. Not until you run up and hogtie them can you let go of it.
 
Yep...Hold down left trigger, then triangle (or 360 equiv) to get off horse, while still holding left trigger. Then walk over to him, and triangle again. You will be prompted when you get close, just remember to keep holding down the left trigger.

First time I tried to take someone alive I died as well, mainly because when he go up I was trying to shoot him but I had lasso selected, then in a panic trying to switch to a gun resulted in a whole lot of nothing... Now I hogtie everything and everyone. I'm going to try to lasso a mountain lion tonight.
 
So I just got the achievement for doing 20 story missions with the same horse. I'm still not really sure that I have the same horse I got from Bonnie though. Has anyone else's Stallion changed to a grey/brown colour instead of the yellow that it was when you got it? Or maybe it was never yellow... I've never hitched a horse though, so I don't know how I would have ended up with a different one.

And is anyone else's stats all messed up too? Mine says that I've traveled by horse only 2x what I've traveled by foot. That's impossible since I've spent hours riding my horse, and ride it if I have to travel more than 100 feet. And it says that my biggest fall survived is 255 feet.
 
once you kinda figure out what you are doing in free roam.. it gets a little bit better.. im still not a fan of the organized dm games or what not.. but coop freeroam going to gang hideouts is fun.. but i can see that getting old quick.. not sure how the hunting works yet...
 
Sorry doug, I got your message but our room was completely full for a while. As soon as a spot opened up I sent an invite and right after we had guests arrive...next time!
 
Guys,

I ran into a major glitch in SP on the mission with the Marshal for "Assault on Fort Mercer".

When the cut-scenes end, the horse-carriage just stays in one spot and the horses keep trotting on the same spot! There is no movement and it won't allow me to get out or do anything except hold "B" to "view Fort Mercer"!!

I tried to load this three different times and it happened ALL three times! :thumbsdown:

I cannot believe there are so many glitches in this game! Although I love certain aspects of this game, it is quite shoddy in terms of programming & quality! A finished product having so many glitches is shameful for Rockstar!

How do I get past this stage?!? HELP!
 
i wasn't excited for this because red read revolver blew and GTAIV sort of blew.

but i decided to get it anyway. i like it.

it has more polish, it immerses me in a way that the previous GTA did not. you can really enjoy just wandering, kind of like a less desolate fallout. this really derverse to be an RPG, but i'll settle for a pretty deep action game.

i find the horse controls perfectly intuitive. it seems to me like they came up with decent controls that give you something to do other than hold a button without being tiresome. and it's pretty easy to master. i like the horse relative controls, if you use camera relative you can't shoot behind you while moving forward.

and the multiplayer is like WoW except fun. i actually want to keep playing free roam just to ride around and finish the little quests (the 'journal') and level up. i'm looking forward to the added coop missions.

also, a friend of mine that i 'posse'd with is the fat mexican model and rides a burro. you can not look at it and not laugh. i can also not shoot his donkey in the head my pistol and watch him fall off without laughing. mmmm...violence.
 
I don't get how the Golden Guns code works. I applied it and my current guns turned gold, but every gun I've gotten since then has been normal. If that is how it works, the Golden Guns pack is completely lame. I'm glad I sold mine for $10 and used the extra one amazon sent.

Yeah I was disapointed that it was only the first guns that were golden...I still use the golden revolver, but not the rifle...I think it should have made all of the guns golden, or at least give the 2x fame bonus

Yea, pretty lame. I was going to use the second code I got, but after I learned that it's only for the two weakest guns... I said screw it and sold the second one.
 
gah! how do you find the gunshots out in the wild or the woman/man screaming for help? This is so frustrating. I've run across several people being attacked by coyotes but couldn't find them until they were already dead.

Just keep an eye on the radar. The blue circle should pop up if they're close enough for you to help. Hit down on the d-pad to zoom the mini map out temporarily too to make sure you aren't missing stuff.
 
Some events don't show up on the radar. The coyote attacks don't, and neither do the lawmen chases.

A lot of the time, if you hear gunshots, it's someone on a horse hunting a coyote.
