It's already been delayed a year.

They are in LA... I'm sure development completely stopped for a good while.

Given that everything else has been delayed until 23, I think this was a decision driven by the lack of competition. Guessing it's going to be buggy as hell.

Yeah, I definitely disagree. Santa Monica has been confident in 2022 for some time now.

Well, well, well... GoW Ragnarok has an official release date of November 9th. Lets see if they actually stick to it and if this was a decision to rush it out because of lack of competition.

I'm a little skeptical of that date since PSN isn't taking preorders yet.

I usually don't preorder games but if I do it's most likely a week before the game comes out because I like having the disc copy for big titles like this.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed again, but I'm sure they want to get it out by Christmas.

I didn't have any bugs or issues with God of War on PS4 pro when it came out and I got it day 1. I have faith that this one will be in a similar state.

Has anyone checked out the new PS+ tier with the game library you can download? If so have you compared it to gamepass at all in terms of the titles available? Excluding any exclusives to either side, is the library different and is there any stand out titles on one vs the other? I have gamepass ultimate but not ps+ extra or whatever the highest tier is called. I'm just wondering if it's worth upgrading my ps+ membership or not.

Ugh so Atlus just said no PS5 upgrade for PS4 owners of Persona 5 Royal. Not no free upgrade but no upgrade period. Want the 60 fps PS5 native version? Go pay $60 to rebuy it. I bought Persona 5 full price $60 then $70 version of Persona 5 Royal instead of the base $60 version because I have a blind spot when it comes to Atlus and cosmetic DLC and wanted the costumes for the new character Kasumi. But this is a bridge too far. Not buying for $60 a third time. Won't feel the least bit bad for pirating the Steam version once Denuvo gets cracked on it. Would have paid $10 or even $20 for a PS5 upgrade, but no way on $60.

Do you have gamepass? It will be on gamepass day one for PC and xbox

Anyone play Stray? Curious to hear thoughts if so.

I'm going to buy it when I get back from Europe. It has gotten great reviews so far. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the fact that the internet and cats go hand in hand but in seriousness, from what I've read the environments are really cool to explore and it's a very simple game that guides you the whole way. There's no free jumping mechanics so you just go to a ledge and press a button, the jump sequence is done for you. It has some puzzles and a little bit of combat but the major selling point is exploring the environments/characters as a cat. It also has some cool dual sense rumble features and they got the cat movement done right. Your kids will probably enjoy it too.

I grabbed the PlayStation + last night. Having fun with it. Its a good relief from playing journey 6 of Elden ring. I can only kill Malenia so many time before it gets repetitive.

I was at Target yesterday, and the one employee that was checking me out in electronics was talking to another employee at the same time. He mentioned putting Series X consoles in the booth along with the Series S. Out of curiosity, I asked how long they last for, and he mentioned that since they get consistent stock, the consoles usually last for a few days. That got me even more curious, so I asked about the PlayStation 5, and they're still online only with really bad availability. So, that makes me wonder if we have newer sales numbers. Is the Series X not selling as well, does it have more manufacturing, or maybe a bit of both? I know it has been very easy to find a Series S for a while now. I'd like to say that the lack of a disc drive dooms that machine, but the disc-less PS5 still sells well. Albeit, that may be because some are simply willing to forgo discs just to get a PS5. (Something is better than nothing.)

From what I saw, the PS5 is outselling the Series in 2022 but the margin isn't that much. But yes the PS5 supply is still quite bad. Remember that the Series S's die is way smaller so they get way more chips per wafer.

The Switch is still #1 though.

I decided to finally fire up the PS5 yesterday and go work on slaying Chaos in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins. I was quickly reminded of one thing... updates are a bit lackluster on the PS5. The system update isn't all that bad, but whew... if you were hoping that small game update was only going to take a minute or two, you better be prepared for disappointment! Even though the 5GB download -- likely related to the recent DLC update -- downloaded pretty quickly, it took about 10 minutes to apply it. Returnal also had an update -- and I'll get to updating other things in a second -- which was only 1GB but it took 15 minutes to apply.

Now, I assume that this is partially due to the download likely being a partial update, which had to be "applied" to the installation. What exactly that means likely depends heavily on the package and update method, but it does mean that extra processing is likely occurring. I'm kind of used to this with Steam since downloads are sometimes compressed, which can require a hefty amount of CPU use to handle the incoming amount of data (especially with a fast connection). Although, I thought I recall hearing that the PS5's SSD setup was geared toward read access and had slower write speeds, which could account for why it isn't as fast with updates.

Anyway, to talk a bit about the game, I had bought it on PlayStation because I heard that it didn't run that well on PC. (I'm not terribly surprised.) Although, there is a serious amount of jitter on hard edges that you have to try really hard not to notice. In regard to the gameplay, it would be interesting to hear about the development of the game, because I get the feeling that it wasn't really finished. I get the feeling that the game was supposed to be far more open world, but in the end, they likely didn't have the time or resources. In the end, you get this ugly blue on blue world map with pin points that represent missions that you can do. The systems all feel somewhat convoluted with nothing really gelling all that well.

It's still fun enough and silly enough to play. I use English voices due to how silly the dialog is, which is rare for me in a game like this. Also, the Japanese voice track doesn't align with the English subtitles, because they're truly subtitles for the English voice track. ...but whew... it's really one of those games where it felt like it could be a lot better overall than it is.

I liked it. A bit short but it's just charming enough and has just enough puzzle elements with a semi intriguing world that it worked for me. Definitely worth playing
Yeah I'm hearing it is pretty short like 4ish hours. I'll probably wait until it's like $15 or so to pick it up.

Here's a shocker. Sony is adding 1440p support albeit without VRR. It's currently in beta.

That pissed me off to hear them just implement it out of nowhere. If they would have given any indication 1440p was coming I probably would have bought a 1440p144Hz monitor instead of a 2160p60Hz one a few months ago.

I have played the whole game and platinum it. The first run was about 10 hours since I got stuck wondering around trying to figure out where to go next. I got the "I am speed" trophy on the third play through just main lining the story and skipping all dialog. My kids are having fun playing the game.
