oh well, hopefully Roli keeps playing that way. people constantly chirp him, but being great positionally is what makes him good. he doesn't make too many flashy saves, but the puck sure does hit him a lot.

i wish Horcoff could bury one of those chances. he needs to produce like he was in mid-season.

GO OIL

must... split... in D-town... *drool*

btw John, it's Maurice Richard - not Richards :p :D

<< just happy to be in the playoffs

Yeah yeah, I know. I was just excited when I typed that. :)

Woohoo, Buffalo won 3-2 2OT. They outshot Philadelphia 58-32 and this would have been a blowout if Esche didn't play the game of his life.

Remember Detroit had the best road record, an NHL record also, of 31 wins on the road.

Hit of the playoffs

:Q @ the hit

Detroit needs to figure something out and change it up, they won't win 3 out of 5 playing like they did yesterday. As a Wings fan the frustration reminds me of anaheim 3 years ago, and Roloson didn't even play that great in game 2, he wasn't tested really. Babcock needs to get the wings in gear and datsyuk and shanahan need to start producing.

Gee, thanks for reminding me! ;)

Yeah, not too concerned about what the Wings did in the regular season ;)

Boy, I've heard just about everything about trap-this, trap-that...

Mac T knew what had been effective in the past against the Wings, and he is employing it to an extent against the Wings. Whatever gets you the W is the bottom line. The thing that I like is that a) the Oilers showed they could play it and be effective and b) they can switch back to run & gun at any time.

Looking forward to tomorrow night. I'm just glad to be in the second season, but I do have a ton of faith in this team and if they skate & hit like they did yesterday they can cause some serious damage.

Datsyuk will most likely be a little less tentative in the upcoming games since he is coming off a hip injury. I don't think they should have put him in just yet. I'm hoping he doesn't get his legs back though :p

Datsyuk sucks in the playoffs. 38GP 3G 9A 12P -2 in his playoff career.

He better start earning his 3.8 million dollar contract now :|

Where are all the Philly fans at?
Are they sore losers like their team?
At least they didn't pull a Darcy Tucker and intentionally injur one of our top guys. Though esche did come out and try to fight, basically saying "ok, I'm ready to go home now".
Philly can't skate fast enough, pass fast enough, shoot hard enough or well, do anything to win. Their goaltending is the only thing keeping them in this series beyond 4 games.
Sabres in 5 at most.

Detroit won't be winning a cup this year. They beat up on a weak division, winning something like 30 games against the two bottom teams. Yea, big skill there. East > West, by a mile.

Carolina is going to lose in 6.
Hopefully Tampa takes out Ottawa, that would be either a godsend, or typical Ottawa playoff chokfest.

Avs come back in OT! Yeaaaaa! I was really worried but Sakic and Hejduk stepped up as they always do and created opportunities that resulted in 2 goals. I think Sakic tipped the winning shot, but didn't admit to it, effectively giving Liles his first career goal. Sakic is such a standup guy, leading through example. Anyways I'll stop the fan-boying :p

Sampson: I would argue that the west as a conference is better than the east. I do agree that the Detroit has preyed on a very weak division.

On the contrary, Gauthier nailed Vanek from behind. He didn't get suspended for it, but he should have. Had Vanek not done a somersault, he could have been seriously injured. It was a boneheaded play, and the NHL is even worse for not suspending him. He was suspended for almost the same exact hit against a Toronto player near the end of the season. Surprise? Once again, the NHL shows where its favoritism lies. Not only that, but Derian Hatcher nailed Brian Campbell after the whistle and Mike Rathje forearmed him in the mouth. Time to grow up, Philly.

The one positive about keeping Gauthier in, however, is that he's pretty horrible on defense and can be counted on to give Buffalo a power play or two.
