So...

Steve Moore has lauched a US $15M civil lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi...

:Q

On the day the Olympic ice hockey started, no less...

I'm tossing this one around in my head. My bottom line here is that, yes, fine. Bertuzzi should compensate him a little. But FIFTEEN MILLION... come on. As mentioned on Off The Record with Michael Landsberg, Moore was a fringe NHLer, I don't even know if he ever played a full season. What did he play, 30 games?

I think $3 mil would be more like it.

This is a fairly unprecedented case, because Moore's career was ended. There have been a lot of vicious acts of violence throughout the long and storied history of the NHL, but not many of them were career-enders.

So personally I'm ok with Bert having to pay a LITTLE BIT. Or a small % of his yearly earnings.

Inside the realm of the NHL, I have no problem with how Moore was dealth with and I'm not ashamed to say it. People here have flamed me for this viewpoint in the past. The truth is, Moore is a dirty little b1tch. But it's so far past that now, that it doesn't matter. And him standing up to the cheers at that Avalanche game with the neck brace on with a big stupid grin on his face... ahhh I wanted to hit him again actually.

I've heard the angle of, "Bertuzzi's hit didn't break his neck, it was people falling on him" etc etc. That, to me, is irrelevant. Bertuzzi took the swing that led to the injury, I think that's the main point.

So I guess I'm on the fence... I don't know. I think the claim for lost salary is legitimate, but I really dislike Steve Moore and just want him to go away.

Thoughts on this? opinions? Do you think Big Bert should pay? What do you think about Moore doing this on the eve of the Olmpics? Attention whore? Selfish? I want to hear what people think about this.

This thread is feeling lonely.

I can't wait until the NHL starts back up again. Miller gets yet another chance to show Waddell why he should have been chosen for the Olympics in the Sabres' first game back.

good to be back. not sure which games are televised here except for Wild / Avs. there's a curling tournament on TSN... I was kind of hoping I'd get to catch the Leafs and Caps tonight.

Lindros is back in action... something I think Leaf fans should be happy about, but not many of them seem to care. I know the guy gets injured a lot, but when he's on, he's an elite player. He sets guys up, he can score, and he works the boards alright too. Every Leaf fan I talk to about it seems to be somewhat indifferent to him returning.

It's pretty crazy how much travelling some of the Olympic athletes have done in the past couple days to get back to North American soil and to the cities that their teams are playing in. I know the Sedins are expected to be back in the lineup for the Canucks tonight against Calgary, but on the other hand none of Detroit's FIVE gold-medal Swedes will be in action later on against San Jose.

Enjoy tonight's action gentlemen!

Man my Canucks will have an especially hard game tonight with the top 3 d-men out. Even Nolan Baumgartner is still out with his ankle injury.

On the bright side I heard Ohlund may be back in a week but Salo looks pretty serious :(

Cheers,
Aquaman

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Thornton with a 5-pt night or something ridiculous like that. Out of all the underachievers on Canada's roster this time around, I thought he stood out the most. Almost every one of his passes seemed to be in someone's skates. Oh well, no use complaining about it now!

/note to self: it's over. think about the Oilers playoff run now. ;)

I heard Ohlund is pretty much ok - thankfully it was just a rib injury. A guy like that is seriously the difference between making the playoffs or not - he's just that good. But, you know this :)

Was Salo hurt in the Olympics?

Yeah...... shoulder or pec. It did not look good....... he was at the finnish celebration and he could not lift that arm.

They did my Sharks a favor by beating the Oil too. We're still 4 points behind them for the 8th spot. :)

Sorry meltdown :)

Man Vokoun was unstoppable tonight. 41 saves against the 'nucks. That's a pretty big accomplishment for him.

Sorry Aquaman :(

Where you at meltdown? :)
been busy doing other things besides forums for a while :) had to come back to check this thread tonight due to the importance of this game!

Yep, Sharks / Oilers tonight... as the season crunches down each game becomes more important for any teams between 5th and 10th place in each conference... this game is surely no exception for the Oilers.

This win would be HUGE and give them a little breathing room, but not much. Things have been shaky since the Olympic break too - every night there has been upsets and strange things happening. But that's hockey ;)

Well JohnAn2112, I hate to say it but good luck and may the best team win!

Oh btw hockey threaders, I scored tix to the Wings / Oilers for April 11th! w00t :)
GO OILERS!

And GO WILD but only tonight when you play those pesky (Mighty) Ducks!!
