also, i was wondering, do you guys want to have a Winter Olympics thread JUST for hockey?

Anyone else see the latest SI? Pretty decent Olympic hockey article in there.

It's coming up fast. Amazing that it's so close already. Go Canada Go!

So many teams look amazing though. I'm lovin' it! 🙂

So many teams... except USA. They need Miller. I'm torn. On one hand, I know he deserves to go, and I would like to see him get some high-pressure experience for the playoffs; but on the other, I like the idea of his not being in a situation where he could get injured, and he has that time to rest.

that's the situation with quite a few players in the league right now as well. Kiprusoff, for example, has bowed out of the Olympics, citing a weak groin, yet he continues to play for the Flames. It's a pretty sketchy situation! It could even have playoff implications for teams on the edge of making a playoff spot that end up with an injured superstar.

Great game by Vesa Toskala. He made a few brilliant saves against the 'hawks tonight.

Great game by my boys tonight. Marleau with 4 assists, Cheech with 2 goals, Michalek with 2 goals and 1 assist, J Thornton with 1 goal and 2 assists.

The only disapointing thing is that both Minnesota and Anaheim won tonight so we didn't move any closer to the 8th spot in the west. 🙁

Dammit meltdown75, I was counting on your boys to take out the Wild. 😉

Do you think they'll trade Toskala?
I would never want to see Toskala traded. He can do 50/50 with Nabby. He has done so much for the sharks I'd hate to see him go.

Do you think they'll trade Toskala?
I would never want to see Toskala traded. He can do 50/50 with Nabby. He has done so much for the sharks I'd hate to see him go.

Toskala was clutch against Chicago and the Stars. IMO, he should play the rest of the season as the #1 goaltender. He's been way more consistent than Nabby has been. Nabby has made quite a few mistakes that I'm not happy about.

heh, no kidding. by the time i got a chance to tune in, it was 3-0 Wild. within the next few minutes though, the Oilers were within one. but... wasn't meant to be last night.

Their last game before the Olympic break is a MUST-WIN game at home against the Blues.
 
Ovechkin vs. Crosby round 3 tonight... with the added bonus of Whitney being a marked man for spearing Ovy in the sack last game. Oh he's going to get his... and Crosby may as well.

Sharks on a nice win streak. 3 in a row going into the Torino games. I hope my boys keep it up. We're 6 points behind the Oilers for the 8th spot.

heh... don't you worry, i'm quite used to rooting for the Oilers to hang on for their playoff lives! they either make it by a hair or miss it my a hair.
