wow jiggy Ziggy Palffy retired because of recurring shoulder problems. I can't help but think of Sid. 😉 But it's sad for Ziggy... he had a few more years left in him and he's been a consistent point producer.

Sid is most likely already looking at next year where he and Malkin will be swapped back and forth from wing to center looking for the perfect fit. This year is pretty much already in the books as a writeoff for Pittsburgh. The question is, who the heck can they dump Gonchar's big $$ contract off on? The guy is such a bust this year.

Ovechkin interview up on NHL.com

http://www.nhl.com/fancentral/livechat/ovechkin011806.html

Here's a highlight:

Alex, what's your favorite American movie?

Alexander Ovechkin
A funny movie I like is "American Pie". "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" is my sensitive favorite.

Man, my opinion of him dropped a bit lol. 😉

Hi Alex -- So far in the NHL, who has been the player you played against who has most impressed you?

Alexander Ovechkin
Peter Forsberg, because he is one of the best passers I've ever seen and he's so good. Scott Hannan from San Jose and Andrei Markov from Montreal are the toughest defenders I've had to play against.

Ah yeah! One of my boys gettin' some props! 🙂

dochabes: Alex, what nickname do your teammates have for you?

Alexander Ovechkin: Ovie and OV-1. I like both of them.
I'm not a star wars fan but even I like that one... and get the reference... sorta.

Alex Ovechkin with goal number 33 for the year so far tonight. If he scores another, which he very may well considering they're playing the Blues, he'll be tied with Kovalchuck for the leading goal scorer in the league!

Anyone see Alex Burrows short handed goal in the Vancouver vs Buffalo game? A nice hard working goal for the rookie 🙂

Go Canucks Go!!! 😀😀😀

Cheers,
Aquaman

168,578 downloads on Ovy's 32nd goal so far... site grew so much I had to move it.. now being hosted by Ciber (a member here - THANK YOU)... ovechkinfans.com 😉

lol poor Belfour!! he has made some spectacular saves too. this is just a severe beating... wow!

gonna have to root for the Habs tonight, and Nashville! 😛 If the Oil can get 2 tonight, that will tighten things up even more in the fierce Northwest division

GO OILERS!!!

Argh!

Lilke I said, familiar spot for the Oilers being in 8th atm. Too scary - especially with Anaheim & San Jose knocking on the door with games in hand.

This week will be interesting - Calgary has a big divisional week with stops in Edmonton and Colorado, while the Canucks should pick up 2 on the road in STL, and probably 2 more in Columbus after that.

This division is CRAZY and it wrecks my nerves dammit.

I don't think that qualifies an an effort. 😛

Same with the Leafs. That was the most one-sided game I've seen all year!

They're on the outside looking in right now... tough stretch for the Leafs fans.
