And they'd say the same thing about Ovechkin, what's your point?
re-read the first fucking line of bullshit in the post i quoted and was responding to. there's no way in hell they would have won that series without Crosby. if you think so, you didn't understand my reply and have no concept of "matchups" in the playoffs. are you just having fun today with all this, or are you actually serious about some of the stuff you're posting?

he sure was one-dimensional in that Habs series though. these crazy guys called sports writers agree with me, for the most part.

5 goals, 5 assists and 34 shots on goal is 1D? Sure dude. What is Crosby's 1 goal 4 assists 12 SoG then? 1/4 dimensional? /chuckle

Semantics.
far from it. you can't disprove someone's opinion. it's impossible. you can disagree with it, but we're all free to think whatever we want. if i think Hal Gill is the most skilled defenseman in the NHL, it's simply my opinion. I'm not stating it as fact.

So in your effort to reinforce your opinion that Crosby is a much better player than Ovechkin, you're going to point to how Ovi played against the Habs 2 weeks ago? The same Habs team that Crosby has played even worse against? Ovi had a better series against the Habs than Crosby has so far. You're not helping your cause here, unless Crosby has a monster game tonight. But I think we've already been over this exact point at least twice.

It was proven that Ovi is not one dimensional, so now you're going to narrow it down to one series. You could've just accepted that you were wrong and moved on, everyone else did. What's next, pointing to one game where Ovi played like shit and calling him the worst player to ever step on the ice? It's like you're arguing just for the sake of arguing. This is pointless, later man.

No, that's exactly what you're doing, arguing over semantics. Obviously you can't "prove" an opinion is right or wrong, but you can present all of the facts to back up your opinion and show that a differing opinion is completely off base. That's what I meant and I'm pretty sure you knew that.

It's my opinion that the sun revolves around the earth, you can't prove I'm wrong durr....

Sounds like you've got an excuse for everything then. Even when someone plays like shit they're still the bestest ever.

There's no winning this debate with the Crosby nut huggers. The guy could be in the stands watching the game and you guys would give him credit for a win because the opposing team was blinded by the light emanating from him. Give it a rest, you could at least admit that he had a bad series.

offense = two dimensional player. now i've heard it all.

No, actually you haven't heard it all. Ovechkin vs Habs in 7 games = no penalty minutes. Crosby already has 2 penalty minutes and should have been called for breaking his stick on the goalpost. Ovi also logged over a minute more of ice time. Who helped his team more?

Just give up.

i'll never, ever, ever give up on this one. Who is saving near-goals behind his tender and who is found floating around the OTHER red line at centre ice? Does Ovy EVER backcheck? Do you even know what a two-dimensional player is?

Look up the difference between a winger and a center.

Shall I look up stats on hits as well? You really want to get embarrassed more?

I'll just predict your next post:

"Crosby may have fewer assists, much fewer goals and shots on goal, more penalty minutes, less minutes on ice, less hits, a temper tantrum that should have been a penalty but I swear he did the intangibles! And that's why he's the best player in the world!"

you make it sound like i am alone in my assertions that he is a better player. perhaps you are the one who should "give up". anyone starting a team and looking for a centrepeice to build around right now that would take Ovy over Sid right now is batshit lunatic crazy. but i'm the only one that thinks so, so i'm CRAAAAaaAaAaZZyzyzyYyYYYY.

Can you even name one thing that Crosby has done better so far than Ovechkin vs Montreal?

Didn't think so.

Now you're talking about centerpieces and saying nobody would take a back to back MVP over Crosby to build a team with. You must enjoy making yourself look stupid.

ROFL, do I get to answer? Do Cups and gold medals count? not in SP33DEMON'S BOOKS!!! bahahahhah

back to back MVPs, yes, that is a nice achievement. can we live in the now?

are you honestly saying you'd take Ovy over Crosby right now? please answer honestly and live in the now so I can fully gauge your utter and undeniable cluelessness.

Live in the now? Ovechkin is the current reigning back to back MVP Hart winner. Are you dense? Do you know what the Lester/Pearson award is? Here's a clue: according to other players in the NHL, they think Ovi's the most outstanding player for the past 2 years as well.

Another clue: There's only 1 winger, Gordie Howe, in the all time Assists recordbook top 10. 7 are Centers. It's much easier for a Center to get an assist than a winger. Yet somehow Ovechkin had more assists than Crosby in 9 less games this year. It's a no brainer who I'd start my franchise around and Ted is very smart owner for locking up the Great Eight on that long term contract.

Markov, Gill are game-time decisions
Updated: May 12, 2010, 2:17 PM ET

PITTSBURGH -- Montreal Canadiens defensemen Andrei Markov and Hal Gill skated in full gear Wednesday morning, but it appears Gill is the more likely of the two to appear in the lineup for Game 7 in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Penguins.

Neither player was available for comment after the skate; both will be game-time decisions.

"At this time in a series, those decisions are made at game-time," Canadiens coach Jacques Martin said. "We hope to have some people back. We'll have to wait and see after the warm-up."

Martin previously has described Markov, who suffered a knee injury in Game 1, as out "indefinitely." He offered no more insight Wednesday morning.

"He skated with us this morning but I haven't had a chance to talk. It was really the first time that he skated with us so we'll see," Martin said.

Gill skated before Game 6, but remained out of the lineup after suffering a cut on the back of his leg in Game 5. If he is able to go (and pending Markov's status), it gives Martin a plethora of defensemen at his disposal. But there's also the issue of putting in players recovering from injury and being left short-handed if they can't play a full game.

"I don't think that we need eight defensemen. I think if we have healthy bodies we'll dress the lineup that's going to help us win the hockey game," he said.

This is like taking candy from a baby.
what, you're proud of yourself because you DISAGREE with someone on an internet forum? you're a real winner. congrats, you proved that you had a differing opinion. go print out Ovechkin's stats and roll them up real tight and cram them where the sun doesn't shine.

you can have my candy, just don't take my Crosby.

btw i'm hoping he tanks tonight because I'm rooting for the Habs. and if he does have a bad game, his team will likely lose. that's a nod to the impact he has on EVERY SINGLE GAME HE'S EVER PLAYED IN.

I thought that they still won even when he has a bad game because the other team is worried about him?

Ok I'm really not trying to get into this again I just couldn't resist. Enjoy the game tonight, I'll be rooting for the Habs too. I'll be lonely though, I'm in West Virginia this week for work, about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh, and I'll be watching the game at Applebees. Ughhh....

opinion of my buddy who is a Habs fan and probably one of the most knowledageable hockey guys I know:

Q: who would you say is better right now, Ovechkin or Crosby?

Crosby. Ovechkin is a one dimensional sniper who doesn't even know who his goalie is because he's never been in that zone. Crosby is an all around player and makes the players around him better. Has already won Olympic Gold and the Stanley Cup and was the go to guy on both squads.

There are usually Ovechkin lovers out there running rampant though because he's more exciting. They think that translates to him being better for some reason.

Anyways, I hope Halak doen't show up tonight. Hopefully it'll be another game 1 showing.
