Yes, it's a team sport, meaning no matter how good a single player is if the rest of the team lets him down there's not much he can do about it. It works both ways, with a great team a bad player can still win a championship. Crosby disappeared in the Stanley Cup final last year, the Pens did not win because he took the team on his back during that series. YOUR the one touting the Stanley Cup as proof that Crosby is better than Ovi. My only point is that it's pretty close as to who is the best player.

My point about it being a team sport is that when comparing the performance of two individual players, you have to take into account the fact that they are playing on two completely different teams. You can't say that one player sucked because he never won a championship, it's the team that wins and loses championships. It's like calling Dan Marino a bad quarterback because he never won a Super Bowl. I don't know why I'm repeating this, I've already said it several times and you've ignored it every time.

My only issue is with you saying that Ovi isn't even close to Crosby. When it's pointed out that they have similar stats you point to the Pens winning the cup last year. Hence my comment about it being a team sport. You would have a point and I'd agree with you if Crosby played big in the Stanley Cup final last year, but he didn't. If the Pens win it again this year and Crosby finally decides to show up then I'll agree with you.

They would've won the series without him, pretty sure that one goal didn't seal the deal against the wings. As far as the rest of the post season goes, I agree, they wouldn't have made it that far without him and the Caps wouldn't have made it as far as they did without Ovi. Point being, you can't say that Crosby is better simply because his team won a Stanley Cup, he disappeared in that series. Everything else seems pretty equal between Crosby and Ovi, as other people have already pointed out.

It seems to me that Pens fans go apeshit when anyone suggests that Ovi could be anywhere near the same level as Crosby, it's not just caps fans that overreact.

You can go on for days about how the Pens are still playing but it still doesn't negate the fact that Ovechkin had 4 more goals, 1 more assist, and 22 more shots on goal than Crosby against the same exact team 2 weeks ago.

Summary: Crosby better show the fck up tonight and earn his title of "best player in the world" or the media's going to have some fun tomorrow. And you know I'll be rooting against him because it'll be fun to see Ovi win 3 straight MVP's. Only Bobby Orr and Gretzky have done it.

I'm in agreement there. But when someone comes in and starts spewing that Ovi is one dimensional it's a little ridiculous. If he played the 9 games Sedin/Crosby did nobody would be in the same stratosphere in points and goals. You just have to be a hater to say that the MVP of the NHL for the past 2 years is one dimensional.

They have to be. The PLAYERS would say that, and the coaches to boot. Perhaps our little tech forum opinions mean more though.

#4 is my favourite player of all-time... i should say that Crosby is only my favourite player still playing in the playoffs. Ryan Smyth is my #1 still playing. it's all just my opinion so it ain't worth sh*t anyway.. it's just personal preference.
