The Puck had left the area there was no reason for the hit. This boils down to poor coaching on the pens imo, they lost both home games so they decide to try and scrap. Any one got a Broom I can borrow?

You get 2 seconds and it was close to that. The question was should he be suspended I said no I did say it was a penalty for coming off his skates but the refs never called it. So tell me should Neil get suspended for that hit?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tdGZAsNTro Suspension? Then he hits Claude in the head shortly after.
Neal is a cheap shotting bitch... sneaky, but a bitch none the less.

These headhunting incidents are a result of Shanahan completley fucking up his job. Here's a sweet back peddle;

Shanny announces that Hagelin's suspension may get reduced if Alfredsson plays tonight on @BoomerandCarton. He is on MSG right now.

Neal has 2 phone hearings today (most he can be suspended is 5 games for each hearing... doesn't mean he will, just where it is capped)... My guess, he will get something like 2-3 games (for both hits).

Asham has a in person interview... most likely means he is gonna get suspended for more then 5 games. My guess, he will get something like the rest of the playoffs and 3 next year)

They've deleted that tweet. Apparently someone misinterpreted something. I haven't heard what Shanahan actually said.

FWIW, there were only four or five suspensions in the entire playoffs last year, and there will be at least that many in the first round this year. Shanahan is doing his job.

Re: Damien Cox article - It's called the Department of Player Safety, not the Department of Play Nice Guys. Hagelin's hit was likely to (and did) cause injury. Carkner's pounding on Boyle is no more likely to cause injury than any other fight, and you know Boyle just laid there and took it because he knew his team would get a power play out of it. Weber's shove was unlikely to cause injury. Shanahan is being consistent in focusing on safety. The players can police the dirty stuff like they always have.

Asham has an in-person hearing, which could indicate a longer suspension is coming for him.

If Rome got 4 games for this hit on Horton last year, then yeah, Neal should get suspended.

I timed it, and Rome hit Horton a little less than 1 second after he passed the puck off. Apparently the league standard is about 0.5 seconds.

Rome wasn't suspended because it was a dirty hit (it wasn't), but because it was late. Neal's hit was later than Rome's.

Yup, Neal is a cheapshotting bitch going for Philly's best skill players. Especially going for Giroux's head after that hit on Courtier.

It should also be noted that I didn't think Rome did anything wrong. The hit was clean, from the front, and less than a second after Horton passed the puck. I also don't think there was anything wrong with the Brown/Sedin hit last night. It wasn't late, Sedin had just passed the puck, the hit was to the chest (with very minor incidental contact to the head). About the only thing you can fault Brown for was coming at Sedin from behind and getting him right when he turned around. Still though, nothing wrong with it.

I haven't timed it, but I'm pretty sure the Brown hit was ~0.5 seconds (maybe less).

Also, the Rome suspension was 4 games. The hit was in the first period of game 3 and he got a game misconduct. The 4 game suspension was basically "for the rest of the playoffs".

Watching this NY/Ottawa game and comparing it to the Philly/Pitt game yesterday is like day and night. This game is so much more mature.

Damn, I was hoping that between New York and Boston one of them would lost tonight. Looks like that's not gonna happen, 5:00 or so to go in Boston.

Oh crap Caps scored! niceee

Lundqvist was spot on tonight. Karlsson couldn't believe he saved that. LOL.

That was a ridiculous save!

I was hoping Callahan would bury that chance he had near the end... oh well, made for more entertaining hockey the way it ended 🙂

Damn Flyers fans... I dont know if I can trust you 😛 hahha

<3 for you brother.... I am trying to get some for Thursday I will let you know Broski
Cool LMK. And yes Lucic is quite a pest, although glad to see the refs did get it right at the end by putting him in the box for 5 after he instigated.
