Did anyone else just see that amazing game winner in overtime by Ovechkin? Holy shit, that was an incredible play.

pretty fucking sweet..
Yeah the Isles controlled 59 minutes of that game until Arnott's sweet pass to Laich to tie it. Wideman got player of the game, looked great. Since it was the first game for the 3 new guys, they were still trying to get that chemistry.
Ovie's goal in OT, dam... they need more of that from him.
"It's tough, but I can't hold anything back," Arnott said of being an experienced veteran yet the newest player. "They brought me in for a reason, to speak up in the room, and there are certain things we have to address if we want to go forward. If these guys want to win there's a lot of things that we need to address and play a lot better than we did tonight.
"If that means me speaking up and guys don't like it, that's what I've got to do," Arnott said. "I think they brought me in here for my experience with stuff and I saw a lot of things tonight that we can do a lot better and I'm sure everybody knows that. We've got to talk it over and go out and do it together."
Isles controlled from the 10min mark of the first until the 19min mark of the 3rd... caps showed up for 11min in regulation and all of OT
I think arnott's post game comments said it best:
Button cited teams such as Boston and Philadelphia and said there's no way the Capitals would beat them in the playoffs with Johansson as their No. 2. He said guys like Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Mike Richards and Danny Briere would "eat him alive." Let's not forget either about Tampa Bay's duo of Steven Stamkos and Vinny Lecavalier.
"When you get players slotted too high you're extending them and putting them in positions they're not able to handle," Button added. "It's not that (Johansson) is not going to be a good player, he's not ready to do it now, not at that level of competition."
The role should work for Arnott, too.
He doesn't have to be the leading man because that's Backstrom's job, so he can "just come in and play," Button said, while making players around him better and lending his size, skill and experience to the Capitals quest.
"To me it's a fit that is perfect for the Washington Capitals," Button said. "Very few times on trade deadline day can you say they nailed it, but I think they nailed it. I think the team is considerably improved from this time (Monday)."

Ovie's coast to coast goal in OT, dam... they need more of that from him.
Anyone see the Yotes/Stars game? Why did they pull their goalie at the end of the 1st?
Clutch goal by Benn, wow.
canes win, w00t!
/but not in regulation, because they are the hurricanes, and are destined to Movertime.
//they may have won, but i really dont like the mcbain/pitkanen pairing
either way, i have 3 more games to go to this year. i wont bother with the playoff tickets...be a miracle for them to get into the playoffs and out of the first round.

That game is the epitome of why the Caps will not win a cup until they get their shit together.
They don't know how to play 60 minutes of hockey.
My real opinion on the matter is that Russians, the really talented ones in the league today, are predisposed to laziness. They rely too much on their raw talent and not on hard work. Ovechkin in the playoffs is a prime example. An even more condemning example was the Russians in the olympics last year - which again I saw every single game. All the talent in the world on that team, but no will to win and no work ethic. This rubs off on the team when your best players don't give 100% every night.
Malkin had a very similar problem and it really shows sometimes, but he steps it up because the team around him has that 100% work ethic and luckily, that rubs off on him. Ovechkin, unfortunately for the caps, is the one setting examples in DC.
Not that I am just picking out Russians, like its a race thing - its just pretty obvious. They have so much talent they think thats all they need. Lebron is another prime example, I don't think he will be winning a championship anytime soon. Too much talent and "I'm the best" attitude, doesn't work hard enough when it matters. Last night was a prime example, not to mention the playoffs last year. Cutler is another one, all the talent in the WORLD. If that guy would just listen and learn and stop thinking he is the best thing on the earth, he would be the best. Instead he QUITS in the NFC championship game. In the NHL, so many russians have this problem. Ovey is one of the worst.
No chance you'll play the Devils in the first round, so no miracle for you. 😛
Kings fan here:
It boggles my mind how tight the Pacific Div is right now. With one win last night, the Kings go from 9th to 5th place.
makes me wish i got to see more western hockey :-/
