He did, however, throw the most accurate pass of last season. ;)

That was an impressive completion, and I am not exactly a Vick fan. I do respect what he has done with his life since he has been out of jail.

Anyone else see a trend in the NFL relating to the importance and greater roles of Tight End's in offensive schemes? Brady has his pair, Cam seems to be making good use of Olsen and Shockey, Gonzalez is still making an impact in ATL, Finley in Green Bay is a very important aspect to their offense, Miller in Pitt, .etc. I have always considered the TE to be a position that does not get the attention it deserves, but it seems like this is changing somewhat. A great TE is part linemen and part receiver, an odd combination no doubt that requires a ton of athleticism and playbook knowledge.

Stats? Simply relying on stats is for chumps.

And simply stating a QB is a "Top 5 QB" without anything to back it up is the tactic of those without football knowledge.

Vick is still an incredibly dangerous weapon.

This is a tired argument. Randall Cunningham was an incredibly dangerous weapon. Is he in the HoF?

Yes, he is dangerous, but your statement was that he is a top 5 QB. I can list 5 QBs I'd take over him in a heartbeat:

Peyton Manning, Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Dree Brees, Rivers, and Roethlisberger. (I listed six since some will say "Manning isn't playing!")

His stats this season aren't terrible either. This last game really killed his stats and was definitely his worst game, but he made big plays to bounce back and put his team in a position to win.

His stats are mediocre and his team, touted by many (including me) as a Super Bowl favorite, is 1-4 and may not make the playoffs at all.

Those of you blaming Vick's line and using those kinds of excuses need to watch Peyton Manning and how he has played the last few years with one of the worst lines in football. *THAT* is a top 5 (scratch that, the TOP) QB in the league.

Brady is the TOP QB in the league. You obviously have a hard on for anything colts. I'd put Brady top 5 all time.

Also its useless to try and argue with Vick supporters. I laughed and said what a mistake it was signing him to a big contract. I told the supporters we could bump the thread next year when Vick fails and I can't find the old thread now.
Randall Cunningham was a better qb than Vick. He lead a Vikings team that was the best in the league but lost to a hot falcons team in the NFC championship game. Vick hasn't Done squat

Brady is the TOP QB in the league.

Only because Manning isn't playing. Manning >>>>>>> Brady. Manning has a command of his offense that is unparalleled in today's NFL and one which Brady can only dream of having. The Colts have done a great job of proving, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that Manning is by far the most valuable player to his team. If you could put each on the worst team in the league for a season, I have zero doubt that the Manning version of the team would fare better.

The funny part is that Pats fans foamed at the mouth for years about how Manning was a "choker" who had awesome offensive talent but couldn't get anything done with it. What has happened to the Pats since they've concentrated on adding offensive talent? One SB loss and they haven't even sniffed it since. And that doesn't include factoring in playoff embarrassments which rival (and frankly surpass) the embarrassing playoff losses the Colts have had over the years.

SI (IIRC) had a great article earlier this year illustrating this difference and basically agreed with what I'm saying.

Oh, and another item of note -- have you guys noticed that while the Colts have been losing, the last 3 games have been much, much closer? Care to guess why?

You obviously have a hard on for anything colts. I'd put Brady top 5 all time.

With Manning above him. And if the Colts win the Luck derby and draft him, I look forward to all the belly-aching and pissing and moaning from AT. :D

I don't think signing Vick was a mistake, but throwing all these accolades at him for one good season is a little ridiculous. We argued about this topic last year and at the time, I told his supporters that we should wait for a few good seasons in a row before making his reservations in Canton. No one has ever denied that Vick has awesome physical talents, but so did Jeff George and Jamarcus Russell. What happened to them?

Manning is (was) the better player.

Brady has the better team.

Brady is a great QB but in terms of overall football his team has been better and that coaching staff has been better than what the Colts have had. Teams win championships, not individuals.

Both are extremely good QBs though.

Manning's best days are behind him because of the incompetence which has gripped the Colts' organization.

I agree. Manning is an awesome QB and would be unstoppable if he was with the right team. I'm hoping his injury gets resolved soon ... I miss watching his brilliance on the field.

I just don't understand what they did with the O-Line half the time. It was like they never cared to fully protect Manning with competent linemen due to Manning being good at getting rid of the ball.

Their defensive side is a whole other issue. Their refusal to let injury plagued people go and replace them with SOLID players instead of using second stringers or just not even bothering with the middle of their defensive line and much much much more.

Mannings best days are behind him, Bradys best days are ahead of him.

Brady is still playing well for now. He could win another Super Bowl. But he's had no playoff wins since 2007. Clearly there is something a little off about the Patriots. They're perennial contenders but it's like Spygate and 18-1 did something to them.

They're looking more like the Colts of recent years and less like the old Patriots. Dominant in the regular season, fall apart in the postseason.

EDIT: Although it's obvious the Patriots have a better overall team than the Colts. Look at what Matt Cassel was able to do with them in 2008 vs. Curtis Painter this year.

So we have 3 teams left (Fins, Colts, and Rams) for the Andrew Luck lottery.

the only reason the rams care about luck is the trade value it would give their pick. I do not see them getting luck when they have bradford

and +1 to vick not being a top 5 qb, top 10 maybe, but its not like he is without other offensive weapons but they are awful

however much it hurts as a bears fan, the top 3 are def rogers brady and manning

cutler has flashes of being in the top 10, but generally is pretty mid pack

the fact that pats have had one of the worst ranked Ds in the league for a few years running has done more then spygate or 18-1

My pick:

Aaron Rodgers

I don't see how it can be any other, right now. I'm a Packer fan, so I'm a bit biased. But both Brady and Manning are past their prime, thought still great QB's. Brees would be the only QB I think could be argued to be beter than Rodgers. But, seeing as Green Bay beat the Saints in week 1, I think the slight edge has to go to Rodgers... Brees and the Saints fell just a yard short.

And, don't flame me IndyColtsFan. :) But I've always thought Manning was overrated. He's a fantastic pocket passer and leader. But I never felt that he's elevated those around him like some of the greats could. And I don't know if he ever would have won a Super Bowl if it wasn't for a pathetic NFC that year and the fact that he was up against the golden arm of Rex Grossman. How many times did the Colts run up a fantastic W/L record just to exit the playoffs early when playing against good competition?

I hate the look at what Matt Cassel did with the Pats when Brady was out. Well turns out Cassel happened to be a legitimate NFL QB. Pats are a solid team and you put a legit QB in there and You got a 11 win team

Strongly disagree. I'm not sure Harrison, Wayne, Clark, etc are stars without Manning.
