Lol Pettigrew pushing a player after the play and then shoving an official. Surprised he wasn't ejected.

Holy fuck. I hadn't gotten that far on the dvr. What a fucking dumb ass. The lions are out of control. What? You won a couple of games so now you self destruct by getting all these stupid stupid penalties?

Sadly as a fan in today's NFL you first look for a flag. Especially during pass plays after 3rd down. I'm surprised refs don't need more rotator cuff surgery.

I still think that players should be given a flag for calling for one. I hate it, even when it is a player on the team I cheer for. I love when receivers will actually stop going for the ball because they are too busy asking for a flag.

The icing the kicker was kind of weird but I think the worse offense was to not call TO with :25 left after the Bryant catch. They could have run 2-3 more plays to get a closer kick with a TO still left. Instead, a 49y FG is always going to be 50-50.

Agreed. Why do you waste all that time to clock the ball when you have two TOs left? And why do coaches assume a field goal ATTEMPT from within 50 yards will always be successful? The whole "icing his own kicker" thing was just a distraction from the real problem, which was piss-poor play calling and clock management from Jason Garrett. It's like he doesn't understand the basics of the game.

if you do not have manning, brady, or rodgers, you hope your D can make that stop.

They DID make a stop. They stopped the Broncos from getting a TD, and instead allowed them to attempt a chip-shot field goal as time expired, giving the Vikings no chance of winning. Field goals from that distance miss less than 1% of the time.

NFL coaches play too conservatively and somehow think that losing by 3 is better than losing by 7. Especially Leslie Frazier. He's not head coach material by a long shot.

Did anyone catch Raiola's locker room rant where he went off on the whole team, "Grow the fuck up....GROW THE FUCK UP....GROW THE FUCK UP!!!!"

Good! He finally has a decent team that might have a chance at the playoffs and they keep trying to eff it up. If I was the head coach I think my heart would have exploded from anger during the game

so who sat there at ESPN before the season and thought 'hmmm... let's have the chargers and a team that can't sell out its own stadium and will be fighting not to be last in their division'

No kidding... of course I am still watching it anyway. But, it seems like every couple of years there is discussion of not hard coding the final four weeks worth of prime time games, and waiting until say mid season to determine the best matchups for Sunday and Monday Night football broadcasts.

the game last night was flexed. i'm assuming that fox protected packers giants because that would have to be a bigger draw than saints lions.

i assume that sunday and monday night football get the first crack at games, though it may be subject to protecting from fox and cbs even at the start of the season. there's also rules about how many times a team can appear on sunday/monday night.

I think that Palko is a better QB than most think. In that game last week, it seemed like he was getting no help from his WRs.

Not even close. No help from his receivers? He's lucky he has as good of receivers as he does, they've done essentially all the work with the limited success he's had. He makes awful decisions and has a poor arm. He underthrew a receiver by 15 yards. After every INT he started getting mad at the receivers when he's the one that fucked up.

Hes accurate enough, but he has a pretty weak arm. He also makes some absolutely terrible decision, but that's probably more due to inexperience than anything. Palko looks infinitely more comfortable in the pocket than Cassel, and Palko is relatively mobile which with the Chiefs craptastic o-line is desperately needed. Right now I would rather have Palko over Cassel. I was pretty sick of seeing Cassel line up under center.

Palko is worse than Cassel. I don't like Cassel, but Palko should not be in the NFL. Cassel could be an ok backup, but definitely is not starting level. I think the main reason it looks like he's better than Cassel is that Haley has opened up the playbook more (I think Haley was hoping Palko would come in and make it so Haley could have a legitimate argument for getting rid of Cassel). Or at least he did before the Chicago game. I think he was planning on Orton taking over, but then that went to hell. I wonder how long before they bring Brodie Croyle back in.

Palko does at least move around some (I think they probably spent so much time telling Cassel to look for the pass instead of run like he did in 2009, but now he never runs and just takes the sack), but he's had pretty good protection believe it or not, and he's still sucked it up.

Speaking of guys that shouldn't be in the NFL. The Chiefs line isn't bad other than Barry Richardson, but he's one of the worst tackles I've ever seen. As bad as the Tackles the Chiefs have tried to put out there since Roaf and Shields retired, he's the worst and that's saying something. But of course they wouldn't give Gaither a chance and then big surprise two QBs hurt, Palko probably will too. So it makes a ton of sense that they cut Gaither last week.

Even with Richardson, the line play has been good enough that its clearly poor QB play that is the issue with the offense.

You say that like the Chargers aren't last place as well?

no shit, but the TV schedules were set during the summer when they were picked by most to win the division. i don't think anyone seriously picked the jags to be better than 3rd before the extent of manning's injuries became apparent.

Yes, and they did that deliberately as they wanted to gush over the Chargers like they do every year despite San Diego always fucking it up. Probably the same reason for the Steelers-49ers, and Ravens-Jags games.

After watching Bears v Chiefs yesterday and this game tonight... wow. There are some bad teams in the NFL
