After watching Bears v Chiefs yesterday and this game tonight... wow. There are some bad teams in the NFL

I think there's maybe 10 teams that are playing NFL caliber football this year any given week. Its been shifting around. There's maybe 5 that I'd say have played like an NFL team all year (Packers, 49ers, Ravens, Saints, and maybe Steelers or Pats). Really bad year for sure (lockout is a big part), but the parity has fallen off quite a bit the past few seasons in the NFL.

Good gawd. Why this game gets a Monday night spot is beyond comprehension.

Tonight's game was so bad, it shouldn't have even been televised.

I'm not sure who to blame for Jacksonville's dismal performance...

the coach? He's brand new in the job...first head coaching job ever.
He's dealing with a brand-new QB, a team that has been devastated by injuries...and not much talent in those who are there.

Quarterback? He's also pretty new in the job...youngest QB in the league...has no offensive line to protect him and give him time to pass...and no receivers to pass the ball to even if he had time. I'd still expect to see something better than tonight, especially since he's had a few weeks to learn...

Nah, IMO, the blame for their performance has to go to the head office.

They've made some poor decisions in the draft, haven't managed to hire any quality replacements for their injured players, and fired Del Rio...without having an experienced coach to replace him...

I'm not a Jax fan, but I HATE seeing football played this poorly on the professional level.

You're right.

What gets my goat is that they extended Gene Smith's contract another 3 years. Del Rio had to go, no doubt. But it was his disagreements with Gene Smiths interference that made it hard for him to coach. They should've sacked Gene too.

Watching yesterdays game was weird. In the 2nd quarter, it almost looked like a different Jags team took to the field. And they actually played well. Then, after half time, back to the usual crap. Even our defense wasn't able to do much yesterday.

How the heck Mo-Jo has the most running yards in the NFL, when we've got such a shitty offensive line, is just plain amazing. I can only imagine how he'd do in a team with a good offense.

I thought they were supposed to have 'Premiere' games on Monday night. Doesn't seem like they've had any games at all this year worth a flying cluck.

so who sat there at ESPN before the season and thought 'hmmm... let's have the chargers and a team that can't sell out its own stadium and will be fighting not to be last in their division'

I thought they were supposed to have 'Premiere' games on Monday night. Doesn't seem like they've had any games at all this year worth a flying cluck.

As I understand it, NBC gets the first pick with the Sunday night games and can basically do whatever they want, with ESPN getting the scrap heap. Honestly, I'm happy that the games this year have all sucked - didn't miss anything (I don't have cable).

Still think it's crazy that Jacksonville got two Monday night games though. It's one thing to schedule teams like the Chargers, Eagles, or Colts a lot - they were expected to be really good before the start of the season. But the Jaguars? They haven't been relevant in over a decade.
