He'd be stupid not to turn pro if he is projected as a top 5 pick. Look at Leinart -- he was going to be the #1 overall pick and decided to stay another year and then dropped to #10 (or was it #11) overall.

Maybe it's not all about the money. The higher you get picked, the worse team you land on. Generally speaking, that means more beatings and a longer trip to a ring. Any first-round contract will make you rich...I'd rather go to a winner.

Not nearly enough.

I thought it was appropriate. He crossed the line, to be sure, but I don't think he was actually trying to harm the guy (and he didn't). This wasn't a Haynesworth. With the Lions in contention and the effective $164k fine, this punishment is a BIG step up from what he's been getting. Suh seems to be starting to pay attention, and this may be enough to clean him up, at least on the outside.

Besides, Goodell is in a sticky place right now, and he needs to make sure he doesn't go overboard. The NFL needs to find the place between flag football and alley brawling.

<----- despises dirty play

*With Andrew Luck in the bag, it might be time for the Colts to look more at Barkley and see if he might be the better choice and trade down to draft him. It should be interesting in April.

Drafting a USC quarterback early in the first round at all? Yeah I'm sure that'll work out great.

I'm all for stockpiling picks but the Colts should just get Luck and then build up their O-line to protect him. Remember, they get the first pick in every other round as well... maybe they could trade some of those down. In a couple years they could be even better than they were under Manning.

Oh and your second-favorite coach, Jack Del Rio, got fired!

What winner will be in a position to select a franchise QB in the top 5 picks this year, next year, or any year?

If they waive him before then, he won't get the $28 million. That's the debate.

Hahahaha...they could waive him...only to have another team take a chance on him coming out of retirement. It would be a stupid move, but I can't say it will not happen.

Yes, I am sad. I just wish I knew how to contact that Jags fan who was in my AoC guild so I could laugh in his face after he "guaranteed me" the Jags would win the division a couple of years ago. What an idiot.

If they waive him, another team will grab him. If they don't waive him and want to get rid of him, they'd have to sign and trade and no one will likely pay that money except maybe the Redskins and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. :D

My guess is that if he can't play, they all come to an agreement and he retires a Colt.

You know, that Pats could grab him and have him play behind Brady...just saying;) I mean, with the money they refuse to pay for high caliber players, yeah, they could afford it.

Nah, the Pats don't seem to want to upgrade their defense, let alone their QB. :awe:

*Most are speculating that Belichick will run up the score on the Colts. Keep it classy Pats -- save your energy to avoid yet another embarrassing playoff loss instead.

With the Pats D there is no such thing as scoring to many points. You never know how many touchdowns you'll need to outrun your opponent. :D

You obviously have not seen the Colts' high-powered offense. Them scoring 19 this weekend was an incredible offensive explosion.

Exactly my point. You get drafted high, you're going to a loser.

Yes, I understand what you said, and your point makes no sense:

1. Which player out there DOESN'T want to be drafted as high as possible, get paid the big bucks, and have a franchise built around him? I doubt many high first round picks have said "Damn, I wish I would've sucked more in college so I would've dropped into the second round and make 20% of what I would've made."

2. Each year, how many "winners" need to draft a franchise QB?

Elway, Manning, Aikman -- the list goes on and on of franchise QBs who went to teams which were losers and turned them around into SB champs. These kids want to be like those guys.

Exactly. What QB wants NE or GB to draft him. You will essentially just sit behind Brady or Rodgers and watch them. The only playing time will be if one gets injured or the game is so one sided that they decide to sit him. Anyone who gets drafted that high wants play ASAP, not sit on a bench.

HAHAHAHA, Colts fire DC Larry Coyer. The ass should've been fired last year.

I hope to GOD that he isn't the scapegoat and that Caldwell will follow soon.

Bleah, I'm not going to take all day nested-quoting this into the ground. I'll just say that what you're saying is mostly irrelevant to my point. Do with that what you will.

So we go from talking about the top 5 to the bottom 5, with two teams who are set at qb? Cherry picking fail. Besides, playing ASAP is not always best for the team or the career, which is of course what I was actually talking about.
