Has anyone that ordered one of the 20GB refurbished hard drives got it yet? And how are they (Do they look new, etc...)?

Really thinking about getting a Arcade and ordering the 20GB drive in a few weeks.

That would be a pretty neat thing to do, even if it's not in the current NXE implementation.

I doubt it'll be to use it as storage or saves and downloads. Its likely more towards the musical stuff.

But there's no reason for that to be the case, really - Microsoft controls the Zune platform just as much as they control the memory cards.

Those Disc copy numbers are ridiculous, They are going to have to come out with some storage addon, probably be like the HD-DVD add on.

Yeah, like a 120gb HDD. Unless you're playing 10+ games that you feel require installation in a given month (which is _really_ quite a lot), I don't think space is a big deal.

Dang it 🙁 still didn't get in and I was signed up within the first hour of it going up. Oh well only another 5 days.

When you install the games to HDD, how does it check that you legitimately own the game? Does it ask you to pop in the DVD for verification first?

Yep. You have to have the game DVD in the drive.

Major Nelson has an oh-so-exciting video showing off <drum roll>The NXE Installation process! <yay! throw your hands up in the air!>

Gamerscore Blog has a summary of all the info and videos they've put out concerning NXE.

Hey I just got my acceptance email! Good thing my Xbox is in a box in Texas on its way to the service center....

Any of you guys able to access parties? It says it's blocked on my console, wondering if this is a setting or if it's blocked until the full release on wednesday.

I haven't tried, but I'm sure it's blocked seeing as how you're probably trying to connect to others who don't have the new dash.

got my120gb hd today so I'm all ready for this. I'm hyped. No more loud ass a\disc spinnings

I was playing Fallout last night with someone sleeping in the same room... NXE made that much nicer for them. It's not terribly noticeable until you start playing with the volume really low.

How is the avatar feature? I've watched the videos but it doesn't seem to say much. Or it is not included. I know wednesday is almost here but I'd like to help pass the time.

Eh, it's there, but it's hard to comment about it since no one else has them yet.

Maybe someone at Sony should watch the video that Major Nelson posted of the NXE install. It took right around a minute to download and install before you're up and running again. PS3 updates usually set me back 20 minutes.

Do you think it will really be that fast? I just assumed they skipped over that part or sped it up (either artificially or because of the company connection) so half of the video wasn't watching it install.

Actually, I guess that's a good question for people that were accepted into the beta. How long did the installation take?

It took me 6 minutes, and that's cause my 360 is on wireless. If I was connected directly to my router like I used to be, then yah - about a minute or so.
