Kobe is as much 'jordan-esque' now as he ever was imo (certainly in the playoffs), however Jordan was 'jordan-esque' the day he put on a bulls uniform and tore up the league as a rookie.
He didn't win championships early, but I don't think people fault him for that, I hope not atleast. Once he got very good talent to support him, and a coach who knew how to win at a high level (which is often underestimated in this league), he became an even more effective player and established many of the benchmarks that are now used to compare other players with.
But even tho he didn't advance far in the playoffs early on, he was already establishing remarkable benchmarks that too many people seem to overlook.
One example, '87-88, scoring champion/defensive poy/mvp, shooting 53.5%, 35 ppg, 3.2 steals, 1.6 blks, 5.5 rebs, 5.9 apg's. The type of energy and intensity this must have taken is unbelievable.
I think Kobe's entire game/career is clearly short of MJ's total accomplishments.
Anyhow...
That's not to take away from Wilt, Russell, Oscar...I've never seen them play a full game, altho would love to see some.
