I for one hate the dual shotties in the game.. mainly because I seem to always get owned by them. Now once I reach a level to have them, I will love them! 🙂
Another huge plus in this one, is having the ability to steal your killers setup.. very nice touch when your low level like I am.

They shotguns were underpowered in CoD 4. "Realistically" you don't need to be 10 feet from you to kill you with a shotgun. The spread pattern of most combat shotguns is lethal at a decent distance. What I hate is the 50 feet away 1 shot kill without aiming on the 1887's when it takes 3-4 shots with an assault rifle to kill someone at that distance.

It might have been better to leave them as a primary weapon, I don't hate too many issues with 'em though.

I don't care about "realistic", though. If I want realistic, I'll join the army. I want a fun game, and "realistic" shotties aren't fun.

Akimbo 1887s aren't either. If I wanted a super unrealistic arcard shooter I wouldn't play a franchise based in reality.

I remember when you had to lie down to use a LMG. Sprinting with an LMG then firing it standing up is a bit off the deep end.

That brings up a question I have had. Can you use a bipod for the LMG, or is that an add-on type perk later on? All the other COD titles I can remember, you always had to lay down, and put the bi pod out to be real accurate.

Unrealistically weak shotties isn't fun either. I used them like twice in CoD 4 but I actually like using them (well, the SPAS and sometimes the Stryker, the AA-12 and the rest of the bunch are pretty stupid).

I don't think Kabob is saying that shotguns should be made realistic. If they were, then everything would perform like the 1887s. But similarly, shotguns shouldn't be totally useless like they were in CoD 4, where their range was just too short.

I think all of the MW2 shotguns are about right, other than the akimbo 1887s of course. They have more range than in CoD 4 but not so much to break the game. But taking the absolute best one and letting you carry two of them without any penalty is too much.

The range and power of the shotties are reasonable in the game, the only messed up part is akimbo shotguns. Axe the akimbo and they are balanced. Shotguns aren't suppose to have super short range either, you can easily load them up with slugs.

No, the range of the 1887's is still too long. I got killed long range by a shot from a single 1887 (he was using akimbo though).

I hit level 18 last night.. are there any weapons I should be trying out? I've stuck mostly with the M4A1 with Holo sights and a USP for backup.

I used the FAMAS until I unlocked the TAR-15 (like level 22?). Once I unlocked the M16 (40) until I got the ACR. At 70 though, nothing beats a silenced AK-47. I love that gun so much. I debated not doing prestige just because of it. Oh well, with the stupid glitch I can chopper gun 9v9 on rust my way to 10th prestige.

None of them use slugs though. They all shoot a spread and every shotgun except the SPAS, M1014, and possibly the Striker shouldn't be in the game. They are game breakingly over powered. AA-12? Fully auto shotgun? I challenge any of you to shoot a fully auto shotgun and remain standing after 8 shots. Akimbo is another thing that totally destroys the game. Nobody holds two of any weapon efficiently enough to hit anything. Especially shotguns or SMGs.

Does use the gun emplacements go against your accuracy if you miss?

Also does shooting a chopper with a gun(non-emplacement) count for your accuracy?

518.... kills?!? WOW. Hahahah, thats hillarious. Why didnt you just quit?

Seriously, I'd have quit WAY before then.

I didn't quit because I got carried away and though maybe this is just an "extended" game. Like instead of first to 200, it's first to 1000. Then 2000, then it dawned on me after a few hours, something isn't right. I asked what would happen if I quit and they said I would lose everything, all my stats/points. Is that true? I wasn't sure but I didn't want to find out. It was tens of thousands of points. 65k last time I checked, an hour or so before the match finally ended.

Now I know, and you do too. If you enter a domination stage on Rust and it's going pass 200 team points, get the heck out.

That's a good question... but I guess I don't really care too much about accuracy anyway. It's been interesting to see my accuracy shoot up since I switched from using full auto rifles to the FAMAS, but I'm not going to adjust my play to keep it from going down. For the longest time I figured using the gun emplacements would be a bad idea, because you're a sitting duck. You are, but you also have tremendous firepower. I ran out of ammo in my FAMAS on wasteland, so after I killed a guy near one of the guns I decided to try it out. I got three quick kills, and they didn't even fire a shot back at me. I think the guns can be used effectively if you only use them for short periods of time, and it helps to have someone covering your rear.

Gun emplacements are tempting but like mugs said, only use them for a short amount of time. One strategy I've been using is if you are in a shootout with someone and they get some shots in, as in you are now hurt, get out. And pursue them? Nope, go somewhere completely random. It's something I had to train myself to do. To not "finish" the job. Because, guess what? A lot of deaths come from a shootout, timeout (when people get cover), then the finish (when they wait for you to come up the stairs and take you out with a shotgun to the face).

I employ this with emplacements too. I shoot, get my 2-3 kills, then leave and don't return. There will always be someone zoomed in at your spot waiting for your return. I am happy with not dying and getting the assist (if a teammate happens to be nearby the opponent).

Alright, I'm in. I couldn't pass the hardened edition deal at amazon.com. $47.99 for MW2 and COD Arcade is just way way way too good.

Look for me online probably next week and after depending on how fast amazon ships it to me. I'll be the guy that is really easy to kill. 😀

Obviously the 1887's range should be reduced, but I also think eliminating the akimbo option for them would go a long way to making it more enjoyable (for me, at least). Of course, I know that's a drastic change and IW doesn't do drastic changes post-release, but in a perfect world, akimbo would not be an option for shotguns. Yeah, that's realistic...

What are you talking about jbourne77? That's how I hunt for turkeys every autumn. It cuts the time in half when you are wielding dual shotties. One for fam and one for the in-laws.

I still think the AK sucks, as does the Tar-21. Both recoil too much and the Tar's iron sights suck. I agree with the shotguns though, the AA-12 ruins the game at times, and the other two don't fit with the theme of "Modern Warfare."

Sometimes I accidentally choose Demolition instead of Domination and am so confused as to what to do. I tried googling but I can't find the rules/instructions anywhere ... just a bunch of gameplay videos and people saying "Demolition RULES!" (see the confusion?). Anyway, can someone explain how to play it and details would be great like when the timer gets extended.

Demolition is basically a gametype with a short starting timer. The defending team has to stop the other team from planting bombs at sites A and B. Every member of the attacking team has a bomb. Once the bomb is placed the game timer is stopped, and the attacking team has to defend the bomb from being defused (by any opposing player) for 60 seconds. Upon succesfully blowing up a site, the time is extended either 3 or 5 minutes. There are unlimited respawns and every time you respawn you get another bomb. It is best of 3 rounds. You win a round by either planting both bombs and destroying sites A and B, or defending either sites from being destroyed in the time limit.

The game type is supposed to be tactical, but is full of people running around with Akimbo 1887s and hardcore campers. But, you get massive amounts of XP and the games go by very quickly if you have a good team.

Once silenced both lose a lot of their recoil. And with both, I burst fire rather than full auto. I do aggree the TAR-21's iron sights are terrible. I love the open sights of the AK-47 though.
