Yeah, I have the same throwing errors with my SS, from AA-AAA to the Majors, it's more frustrating when you have one of those advancement goals for fielding (.985 in minors iirc, .997 (!!) in Majors) and I'll have no problems at all until there are a day or two left and I get knocked for 3 errors in the same game lol.

I don't like how you will get charged an error because you threw to first too late... which isn't your fault because there'll be times where your SS will wait for the ball to come to instead of having the ability to cut it off. If I throw from a stand still position, sometimes he'll take his sweet time in getting rid of the ball (or throw it too high), but if I run a bit before release, the ball is either going in the dirt or off line, but it does get there quicker. I have no problems with that, it's just the inability to get to a hit ball faster.

I avg .350+ with 15-20 homers per season. Oddly enough, my doubles and triples numbers have tailed off dramatically when I made it to the bigs.

I just got this game about 2 weeks ago. Its an awesome game. The only thing i found somewhat annoying was two-player mode. When you are bat you can see the other player spot where they want to pitch the ball. So you get an early hint.

When I played against a friend a few times, when that ball first appeared upon a new pitch, we'd hit the analog stick and let it rest back at center so that ball icon will fade away after a second. Then we moved it to where we wanted so the batter is blind to it. It took a little practice to figure out the sensitivity and far to push the stick to the outer limits of the strike box, but we were good to go after an inning.

So are you sort of hampered if you pick a crappy team for Road to the Show? I picked the Jays as my team, since they are the only Canadian team now, and I know they are not that great overall, so am I kind of screwing myself (i.e. not making the playoffs, etc.), or will my team improve based upon how I do?

I just finished creating my guy last night and have not even played a game yet, but figured I could start over if I'm completely castrating myself by picking a loser team (I don't really watch baseball, except for the playoffs, so I have no true attachment to any team).

I figured with a crappy team I am more likely to be called up, so I'm in the the Marlins organization, AA level. I am hitting .350 with 9HRs and 50 RBIs and was named to the allstar team but some of their advancement goals are pretty much unattainable for me. 20 BoBs or 30 RBIs in 3 weeks is a no-go. So I dunno if I will ever be promoted. :(

Oh wow, that sucks. I didn't realize it could be that difficult. I created a pitcher, so not sure if that makes things any easier or not (probably not). I'll have to see how it goes when I get a chance to play tomorrow.

It's not really your stats that matter, as far as I can tell. You have advancement goals (get 20 RBIs, raise your Contact vs. LHP up to this level, etc). You get points for getting a hit, or stealing a base, and you lose points for hitting into a double play or striking out. You also get a various amount of goals per game that come up randomly, like successfully do a hit and run or take a strike, if you succeed you get points and if you fail you lose points. Points are used for training towards the skill level based goals.

Ahh, ok that makes sense. I'll have to see how it works for pitchers. I wonder if I still need to hit as a pitcher? I would assume so, but would hope my goals aren't really based on that.

Your personal development will not be hampered by the team you play for. To get to The Show somewhat easier, I just made sure to go to spring training with a team that was thin at my player's position. Once you make the team, as long as you perform well personally, you'll advance in your career and gain value. You can also request a trade during the season.

My SS is currently the top rated SS in the league and I'm curious to see what kind of offers I receive at the end of the season.

Wow, nice. I guess I shuold have thought about that a little more when I was creating my guy, but it seems like I just need to play my butt off and I'll be ok.

I'm really looking forward to getting started now.

I think I'd be pretty scared to play you guys online, it sounds like you all are pros already.

For the record, I still play on Rookie difficulty. :) It's hard enough to be consistent as it is and my timing for hitting still stinks--I should be hitting home runs more consistently, methinks!

Yeah, I set it to Rookie. I imagine that will be plenty hard for me. I remember trying the demo on default difficulty and barely ever getting hits.

I made the same mistake of picking the wrong team during my first season; I created a SS and picked the Jays which was a bad choice since they already had Eckstein as an everyday player with a mix of Johhny Mac (or something).

I ended up finishing my first season in AA, signed with the Cubs in the offseason (and played AAA) then eventually made it to the Bigs.

I play on HoF and got slider settings via the online part of the game. I ALWAYS guess fastball, but move the guess location around. If you didn't guess the pitch right, at least you can adjust accordingly instead of swinging early just to stay on top/ahead of the FB. I still don't get many HRs, but when I do, they're usually down the middle at the knees or up high in the zone. I'm hitting .450+ because of this "strategy." I'm at the point though, where I won't guess pitch or location and just go through it by reaction because the AI still doesn't mix it up very well.

KT - whats your PSN dude? I'll play a few games online haha.

just let me know who you guys are on AT when you add, or send off a PM if you want to get some games in.

Mind you it's .450 vs the computer haha, unless you throw your pitches like the AI does and stick to two pitches 75% of the time =

I'll add you later on.

You know what I haven't figured out yet? When I'm pitching in a multiplayer game, I cannot, for the life of me figure out why my pitch meter does and doesn't come up; hell, sometimes I can't even control the location either, it'll just throw a pitch as soon as I push a button. wtf!

This game is loads of fun but wow, I'm really not good. :)

Only played Road to the Show so far. My batting average is pretty good (~.400) but they're all singles. I'm still in Spring Training though so maybe that makes a difference? I've gotten 1 double but all my other base hits are a line drives out of the infield for a single. I've gotten a couple to the warning track so maybe eventually I'll get one out. I just don't know what I'm doing I guess...I don't guess pitches b/c I don't know what they are and I just smash the "X" button at pitches. :)

I'm an outfielder so I don't have to worry about too many errors...catch the ball and throw to the cutoff man and my job's done. :)

It is damn hard, but oh so rewarding when things go well.

I'm doing RTTS as a pitcher and I've been up to AAA twice so far in my first year and am now currently a long reliever in AAA after filling in as a starter for an injured guy for a month. There are times where it seems the computer just wants me to lose, or it could just be that I am missing certain subtleties in the pitch control, etc. I'm still figuring out where to slot attribute points, but after some reading today I think I have a better idea of what to focus on.

I'm 4-5 in AAA, but my ERA is decent at just over 2.0. The problem is, when I'm pitching well, I never seem to get any run support, which is really annoying. I'm also having a tough time achieving some of my goals, but maybe that will just come with time.

It kind of sucks that I don't get to hit as a pitcher, but I guess that's what I get for choosing to be with an AL team. I kind of wish I could have 2 RTTS guys going, so I could switch it up once in a while.

Anyway, pretty amazing game overall.

I obviously haven't had the game long but you can't have 2 RTTS players?

To be honest I'm not entirely sure, as I've not tried to make another RTTS player. I just assumed by the way thing were working that you couldn't. I may need to try this when I get home.

You can save different RTTS games, but they would not be able to interact with each other.

Ah, ok, cool. Thanks for that. Guess I'll whip up an outfielder or whatever the easiest position player may be. I really want to focus on my pitcher, but a little hitting now and then would be nice.

KT, added you on PSN but my connection to PSN itself has been awful lately. It'd sign me out randomly and have plenty of problems signing back in; yet I can still surf online with the PS3 but have no access to the store or my friends list lol, not to mention not being able to play online.

That's strange. Well once you get sorted, hit me up for a game.

I just got into my second season of AAA and I'm doing pretty well now. Tough game, but lots of fun.

ive had the game since day one and have been usually playing my regular season games to get a true feel for the game. well last night i finally tried road to the show and wow is that addicting! i played for a couple hours last night and kept telling myself 'ill only play one more game' but then got sucked into one after another. hopefully things go well for me, im still in spring training and im batting .428 with around 7 rbi's and a couple stolen bases. im starting everyday with the usual day of rest every five games or so and even then i always get called upon to pinch hit. im going to probably put in a couple more hours later today and im also interested in trying out online play so if anyone wants to play my psn is: red_flaw.

Haha, I feel the same way. I'll sit there and pitch a game or two, then keep saying to myself "ok, last one" then I can upgrade some skills, or hit some sort of milestone and I want to pitch another game, then another, then another. Big trouble.

I have to admit though I created a CF last night, just to try it out and I didn't find playing that role anywhere near as enjoyable as playing a pitcher. Maybe I just need a little more time with it.
