Thanks a lot Guuts and Energizer Bunny - I will give it a go tonight as my Solider and hopefully it should be a bit easier now 🙂

Ill let you know how it goes...thanks.

Just finished last night. In general I hate RPG's, but that was the best game I have played in a long time. The only things keeping it from being perfect are the graphical hitches that can get annoying, the repetitive planet exploring (sorry but driving up and down different colored mountains in a horribly handling vehicle is not a good time) and my 360 constantly freezing with a dirty disc error.

I spent a little under 30 hrs and plan on playing through again to see what the different choices lead to.

What I don't get is why BioShock got so much hype for it's "decision making" aspect. You basically have one decision to make in the game and you do it over and over again. Woopdeedoo. ME has so many different choices it's almost ridiculous.

This was the game that finally killed my premium too.. DREs every hour or so, and its off to M$ to have the drive replaced.

I'm about six hours into it. I picked vanguard and it seems like my points can only be spent on pistol and shotgun skills. Does that mean I will never be able to be trained on sniper and assault rifles?

Yes. Soldier is the only class that can use all four weapons from the get go. If you unlock the achievement (150 kills) for any of the weapons, you will have the option to add one of those to your character's abilities during the creation process, but only one.

Otherwise:
Soldier can be trained on all weapons.
Adept and Engineer can only be trained to use pistols.
Vanguard can be trained to use pistols and shotguns.
Infiltrator can be trained to use pistols and sniper rifles.
Sentinels can't be trained to use any weapons.

ok I must have missed something.

I played like 35 hours and got to level 48. I did every assignment and mission I could find. Cleared my log. I went to every planet and did the side stuff.

and when I beat the game I didn't get the completionist achievement for beating the majority of the game. :Q

Seriously? I think I got that achievement before I even completed Virmire on my first playthrough :Q

Yeah maybe it just bugged then. I have a feeling I'm gonna play through ti=his like 6 times anyways so no biggie.

I have so many games and when I finished this, I just wanted to start it over immediately.

Yeah, the first time through I went strictly Paragon, and for the most part I kept thinking "Man, I can't wait to do this part as a Renegade!" My second time through I've encountered a lot of things I missed, as well as others that were completely different due to my new character and the different order in which I completed some of the missions. Pretty incredible, really.

It kind of sucks how the achievements require at least three playthroughs, though. I will have to do nearly four if I want to get all of the Ally ones.

I'm only like a level 8 but still don't understand the Paragon and Renegade factions. I've even been following the story too. Maybe it's still to early.

It's not much more than whether or not you want to be a good guy or a dick.

Your choices don't have too much of an impact on anything else - though some stories play out differently depending on your actions.

That, and your renegade/paragon levels affect your charm/intimidate points - which you can use in some conversations to persuade people.

I just wanted to add that I got this game as a gift for Xmas, and although I usually have to put most RPGs down after an hour of boredom, I quite like this game. I have about 8hrs in and feel like I am barely scratching the surface. If you are waning about picking this up, do it!

Great game, really amazed by it..

I'd also like to add that i'm impressed with the rag-doll physics in it.. Some games it looks kinda awkward and you get some wierd ranges of movement in the joints, but with this they all seem natural and believable.

Also, 1 question, i've seen some of you talk about selling some of the stuff in your inventory, how do you do that, do you have to travel to the citadel and sell stuff to the dealers there or can you do it on the fly as to speak?

There is a dealer on the bottom level of the Normandy as well.

I'm lovin this game. I got it about a week ago and I'm about 25 hours in, and I think I may actually replay it right after I finish.

I have no idea why there's a tutorial option. It is marked ON and it hasn't told me anything. I figured out that the MAKO has a cannon and figured out how to use ammo upgrades halfway through the game. 😕 Those Geth Armatures and Colossi are hard w/ just the smaller MAKO gun.

Ugh, I'm only a couple of hours into this game but the combat is a real downer. I would honestly prefer the KOTOR way as opposed to this craptastic combat system they threw together for us. I'm sure I'll get over it soon once I figure out how to make my squad actually do what I tell them to do and get the hang of that unintuitive combat menu system. I mean seriously, this is Bioware we're talking about. I find it very hard to believe this made it out the door without at least 90% of the people who touched it saying 'Dudes! Your combat system sucks!!!'

I know I know. It's all about the story and I really enjoy the depth of it thus far. There is so much history here and I plan to go get the book. I know it will be yet another excellent Bioware adventure RPG but damnit they better flesh out this combat in the sequel!

meh to each his own. I love the combat.

You 'love' the combat? Really? That's a pretty strong word to use in reference to that combat system. Perhaps I'm just missing the point this early in the game. After all, what's not to love about noticing your squad randomly shooting into a wall when you just told them to find cover/move? 🙂

Well the combat system and the AI are two different things. Yeah the AI could use alot of work. It is the weakest part of the game.

I got this game the day it came out, but Rock Band came out that day also, and Assassins Creed and Mario the week before, and etc etc, so I kinda let it get lost in the shuffle. I've been trying to play it again but...I don't know. I just can't get into it. I don't know why. It just isnt blowing me away. I'm trying my best but hm.

I'm currently messing around on the Citadel, got 2 more members to my party and am off to take out some dude. I gotta say, the storytelling and voice acting in this game is just phenominal. The combat is a little weak (I still cant figure out what the deal is with grenades, press select, they fly out... and dont explode?) but it gets the job done. It really feels like a well made sci-fi movie.
