I bought the upgrade for the planet scanner, didn't really notice a difference. WTH is it supposed to do?

It slightly speeds up how fast you can move the targeting reticule around the planet. It takes scanning planets from gouge your eyes out tedium to bang your head against a wall tedium.

that's weird that she's still loyal for you. i sided with jack because miranda reminds me of claire from 'lost.' and now she's just being a wise and beautiful woman and i may just let her die if that's how this is supposed to work out.

Same here. I threw Jack on the sword and now Miranda is being a frigid prude. wtf.

Miranda and Jack spoiler:

You have to choose death between Miranda and Jack? You should probably have used spoiler text on that shit man. Not cool.

Anyway, protip for scanning:

Move the scanning reticle to the very top left, and then press left on both the right (RS) and left sticks (LS) while holding down on the left trigger (LT). This will move the cursor and planet in the same direction doubling the speed. Also, you can pump the LT (lift every 2 seconds and then immediately squeeze it again). Now slowly move the retical downward.

No one has given anything away that wasn't already painfully obvious.

But really, it's hardly up to you to determine what people consider a spoiler. You have no idea how far into the game anyone who hops into this thread might be. Are you telling me if someone is 1 hours into the game and reads that text shouldnt be surprised? Come on.

As for me, I knew there was some friction but I didnt know it would end that way. I figured I would at the very least be able to perhaps make them kiss and make up (ok, I actually prayed for this to happen :p ).

Doh. It was a waste for me then, I'm playing on PC with a gaming mouse that i can up the sensitivty on, which makes it go reeeeaaaaaallly fast. Shooting the probe takes way too long though.

I don't understand why they thought it would be fun to do this over and over again. I also don't like the "complete the circuit" mini game.

Not sure who brought that up but it's definitely not true.

But really, it's hardly up to you to determine what people consider a spoiler.

Just let us know where this arbitrary line between spoiler / non-spoiler lies. Maybe we should just wrap all posts in spoiler tags. You can't discuss the game AT ALL without talking about elements that you don't know about until you actually play it. Discussing a gun? Spoiler. Discussing the fact that you play as Shepard, who is supposed to be dead? Spoiler. Talking about the fact that you have to mineral hunt? Spoiler.

Besides, I think you interpreted what these alleged spoilers were saying, because the info in your spoiler tags is inaccurate. Everyone just needs to calm down and quit being so sensitive. If you want 100% surprise when you play, the door is that way ->

I'll agree that the line can be arbitrary at time and dificult to cater to, but I think giving anything away in terms of the plot or supporting relationships should be something handling with caution thats all.

If you're unsure, then why wouldnt you just be careful about it? I dont understand that? Is it that difficult to wrap them in tags so people have a choice?

Also, I think this is a discussion thread for the game which includes the story. There's so much about the game that some may think is a spoiler when others don't that I don't really blame anybody for what's been said yet. Really, the rule on the internet should be that if you're sensitive about spoilers you don't make a habit of reading a thread discussion specifically about the game in question.

Some forums make seperate threads for spoiler heavy discussion. Perhaps that hasnt happened yet, but for some of us we would like to discuss current events of the game we're playing and I think that's ok. And we wrap that stuff in spoiler tags for the sake of others who're not that far. I just think it's a courtesy thing.

Just say'n. ;)

If anyone wants the Dr. Pepper Mass Effect 2 items, I found this topic over at the Bioware forums:
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...index/919782/1

The codes:
CBEEAAA41NWH
CBEEAAAE4L9N
CBEEAAAFQG9J
CBEEAAAE98ZV

Apparently these are re-usable (anyone can use them in other words), but you can only use one per drpepper.com account. The trick to get around that is you can register 3 different accounts to use 3 codes - just make sure you log into the same EA account when you redeem the item.

To redeem these, go here:
http://www.drpepper.com/promotions/ea/signin/

Create an account and enter the code (I picked "No Purchase" for the three questions it asks, but I don't think this even matters). There should be a "redeem" button that will take you to an EA Account login - make sure you log in using the EA account you have linked to Mass Effect 2.

Then once you're logged in, pick Mass Effect 2 from the game list and pick the item you want. To get the other two items, just create new drpepper.com accounts (e-mail doesn't matter, I don't even think it requires you to click a "confirm registration" link) and sign in to the same EA account when you get to that point.

Here are some pictures of the three items:

Alright, tomorrow night I will be completing this game. All I have left are two main quests (and a side quest in between).

Unfortunately I can't afford to buy all of the upgrades. I'm not sure how I could have missed any credits as I've done absolutely everything (Paragon, anyway) and I tend to comb each area when I play looking for goodies. I think there are one or two items each on the Citadel and Illium that I can still buy, maybe even another on Omega. Oh well.

question for someone who's beaten the game-

how far away am i from the end with the IFF thing? it gives you the choice to 'go after the IFF' or 'keep building your team.' i don't want to accidentally trigger the damned endgame mission- the illusive man has already thrown me into missions (twice) that i didn't want to do yet, just because i answered his goddamn calls.

oh, and yeah, nothing outside of spoiler tags in this thread has been a spoiler. miranda and jack fight? that's a spoiler? give me a break. and i thought the whole
people who aren't loyal take a dirtnap on the final mission
thing was a given.

Mildly spoilerish, but I think it's fairly obvious stuff:

question for someone who's beaten the game-
Put it this way: when the time comes for you to go through the mystery relay for the final mission, you'll have the choice of when to go through it. However, your choices with regards to when you choose to go through it may have some other consequences. I would not do the referenced mission until I had done all the loyalty missions.

Hardly a surprise or a plot twist in any way. Jack hates cerberus and Miranda works for them... to think it's a spoiler that they yell at each other is absurd.

The fact that you can buy a hampster was more of a surprise than that.

Umm...revealing plot items that are only known as the story progresses is the very definition of a spoiler. Many people were polite enough to wrap plot-related items in spoiler tags just in case. You and your ilk were either too lazy and/or too selfish to care that it might ruin the experience for others. There is a reason why the official BioWare forums have a separate forum for plot-related items, and that revealing spoilers in the main general forums will get you banned. Obviously though, you don't care enough about others to even see why this is.

No worries though, I won't have to care about you and your ilk being selfish and immature jerks any more. <3 vb! :)

PS - It is not "painfully obvious" that
someone may or may not be from another galaxy, or that siding with one might cause you to lose the other
because at the point where I'm at in the game (only two people left to recruit), such things have not been revealed yet. Of course, it is "painfully obvious" to you, and typing the spoiler tags is too hard and not "cool" enough for you, amirite?

Sigh..When I said "Explore her Galaxy" I meant "Explore her body" I've been trying to tag it for multiple missions.

Just finished the game. Absolutely epic. From the point you go through the final Relay to the end of the game, it's just jaw dropping. Some have voiced frustrations that they felt elements of it were a letdown, but I didn't feel that way at all.

Without question the most finely crafted single player experience I've had.
