I am cdma & I have been running the leaked 4.0.4 for a while. runs great. much faster than 4.0.2. I was flip-flopping on whether to install the official source, but It seems there are some hassles involved: Dictionary fix, build prop fix, re-installing gapps. The leak had none of this.

I'm thinking about jumping on the $488 deal on amazon. Could someone detail any issues that people are having with this phone?

I've read people complaining about random reboot on XDA. Never experienced it myself. No issue with battery life on the GSM model. Battery life is way better than my previous Samsung Vibrant. I think this phone is the best smartphone on the market. Unlocked pentaband makes this very unique and special phone. 720p, stock ICS, and guaranteed Google update for at least 2 years just seals the deal.

Mien tends to reboot when I use Navigation through areas of weak signal, or try to pull large amounts of data through a weak signal. But its never done it in normal use.

Getting the OEM extended battery gives the Nexus pretty good battery life for an LTE phone too, and they practically give those batteries away.

what is the highest resolution video I can encode to for this thing? I do a simple 960x536 @ 1000kbps, 29fps WMV and MX Player loads it for a second, then force closes. Sometimes with a 1500kbps video it opens ok, but if I fast forward seek, it chokes and force closes. No error messages. Seems the much lower res videos don't have this problem. The phone is stock.

Correct, that question was asked when the Nexus was announced. Its using a Samsung designed fortified glass, not the Corning product.

.

whatever SS is using is less durable vs GG, and im pretty sure they went with it to save money. ive had my phone since it came out with no scratches, my friend got one a week ago and it already looks like someone hit it with a glass cutter, has a massive scratch in it that you can feel, no idea how it happened, he had an OG droid for 2 years prior with the same useage pattern, no scratches,

Try Dice Player.

Try Dice Player.

same problem on that, and RockPlayer Lite. Seems yxplayer is the only one that consistently plays it, but it's only a trial and the seek on that software sucks.

What do you think the underlying cause is? All these players can't be faulty. Would divx/xvid be better than wmv?

i dont work for GG, i work for the company that makes GG in a totally different industry

Ill promote GG from experience has well. First month, 2 notable scratches on my GN even though I was babying the shit out of it. My Epic 4G? 2 years, kicked it across the parking lot, thrown it a few times, and had my bitch of an ex girlfriend throw it against the ground. No scratches on the glass at all.

My anecdote: I've had the Galaxy Nexus since December 15. No cases, no screen protectors, completely naked. It's always in my pocket. I have dropped it a couple times but nothing really significant. The screen is in mint condition not one scratch on it.

One thing I should note is that some Galaxy Nexus phones are manufactured in South Korea and some are in China. I wonder if that has anything to do with anything. Mine's from SK for what it's worth.

dice player plays everything i've thrown at it, including that torture test of 1000s of birds flying. poofyhairguy sent me some tough-to-decode clips as well and the nexus played most of them flawlessly with diceplayer. definitely try h.264 mkvs in diceplayer.

Mine is SK also, who knows though.

I do use a screen protector, but the part that is exposed (the top part where the camera is) has no scratches on it at all.

Can someone explain how to update a Verizon GN LTE? I have not done anything to the phone at all (not unlocked or rooted). What happened to the good ol days where I could copy over update.zip on the Nexus One and it'd update? I wasted an afternoon trying to get it working on my GN and it wouldn't.

A stock GSM Nexus should be getting the 4.0.4 OTA very soon, if it hasn't already.

But,

Man.. I wish I had my Nexus back. I have an iPhone now and just the fact that nothing integrates sucks so bad. I mean I knew what I was getting into and I embraced it. I just didn't realize that would be something I miss.

The fact that when I go to photos and click share, it only brings up a select group to share to annoys me. Instead I have to go to that app then proceed to update there. Same with maps. If I want turn by turn, I have to use Waze and search in there, but if I want to look something up with the 'Maps' app and perhaps use nav afterwards, I have to copy/paste into Waze.

I also miss the built in turn by turn Google Maps offered. I could say to my phone 'navigate to <here>' and it would pull navigation. I say that to Siri and it gives me a map. Don't get me wrong, I believe these features are hopefully coming, but I just wish I hadn't gotten rid of my Nexus for this. :(

I know I can sell this and buy a used Nexus, but I'm going to try and hold out for anything new coming from Apple or Android.

It's a LTE CDMA Nexus. I found similar instructions but they all require Cyanogen or similar bootloader hacks. Is there any "clean" way to upgrade?

If you aren't rooted or bootloader unlocked, just wait until the official OTA comes out.

So far the only official 4.0.4 update is for the GSM GNex. The 4.0.4 updates floating around for the LTE GNex are leaked builds and not official.
