My extended battery came in the mail the other day (finally!). The ever so slight increase in bulk on the lower back is actually really nice. The phone does hold in your hand even better than with the stock battery.

The balance feels a little nicer for me, but I definitely preferred the thinness and lightness of the stock battery. But the battery life makes it worth it, and necessary

Well I finally did it. I ordered one for my and one for my g/f. I'm glad Amazon still has them at a discount. Got them for only $229 each. Not quite the $150 or $189 they had but still cheaper than going through the store. I'm also going to have to wait until the end of the month before it gets here.

Man I really want that home screen. Is there any way I can get it without rooting? Maybe using widgets or a third party launcher?

the clock/date/weather is made from an app called "minimalistic text" (that is 100% customizable so it will take time to set it up, the way you like it)... i don't think you need to be rooted to use it. tbh, i'm not sure.

the "text" softkeys, you need root for that... there is no way around

What about the battery status and vibrate toggle?

You were probably logged in at one moment, and not the next time.

If you already have an account, had a contract, and you upgrade with a two-year plan, you'll get $50 off the 2-year price. At least, $300 phones are $250 if you use your "upgrade" option.

In store, I paid $250 (plus tax and whatnot), and there were no promotions or anything.

Gotcha. I was confused because out of curiosity I logged out than back in and it was back up to 299. I wonder if BB will match that price, plus I still have one new every two left, and 25 in gift certificates to BB. That would make it come out to 194, so we'll see.

Something about that white and bold blue text bugs me. I see what he's doing but it seems to be less functional and more style (even though the middle line isn't symmetrical!!!). Actually I guess the style bugs me too. Why is there a mix of numbers and text for numbers?

edit:
btw... the year is gone on the middle line for the exact reason you mentioned... a little more symmetry! (did this that day after I posted here... lol)

both are from "beautiful widgets" using one of the numerous downloadable skins the community has for them (you download them through the app itself)

Thanks! I have BW installed but didn't know you could skin the battery widget. I just added it. Does anyone know why their battery widget is not a standard icon size? It's like 20% shorter than all regular Android icons.

There was a slight learning curve from Android 2.3 to 4.0.

Yea I keep pressing and holding on the desktop to add widgets. It also took me awhile to find the settings for calling, voicemail, etc. It used to be in the Settings area, now you have to actually open the dialer app and hit the settings there. Little differences.

Did they allow you to get in on the double-data (ends 1/15) though? That was my dilemma. I just went to the store and picked it up today instead... had $50 off (upgrade) so $279 after taxes. Also getting a work discount on the data plan.

so I'm shopping for a car charger and case for this thing... but I notice a lot of places say compatible with Galaxy Nexus GSM i9250. I know it's not GSM (on Verizon), but is it an i9250? For a case it may not matter but a charger it may...?

If someone has a link to where to get the ideal car charger / case, I'm all ears. I see a few options for $10 on ebay (screen protector, case, car charger) - legit?

Or maybe I should hold off on getting a case until I've decided I wont' need an extended battery... I assume they won't fit a bulging cover.

i9250 is the GSM model. i515 is the LTE Verizon model.

This is a popular cheap case used by many and it fits both GSM and LTE VZ model. Supposedly it also fits with extended battery. This is Revision 3 of the case, the newest one.

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Vehicle-Adapter-micro-USB-Charger/dp/B000S5Q9CA/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1326418583&sr=1-3

This is a popular and good car charger. It's what I have and use and I highly recommend it. Be sure to choose Amazon the seller rather than other third party sellers as they might not send you genuine Motorola charger. What's nice about this car charger is that it supplies 950mA so you basically get wall charger output rather than trickle USB charge output that you would get from say PC. Some car chargers only ouput 300-400mA so if you use Google Nav, your phone will actually lose charge while it's connected to the car charger. You won't have that problem with the Motorola charger as it supplies enough juice to charge you while using Google Navigation.

32gb GSM model is coming out end of this month I think. 16gb is plenty for me. I stream most things. SD slot would've been nice but I never really used it on my Vibrant and 7" Galaxy Tab.

You can use Stickmount and hook up USB thumb drives if you want. Not an elegant solution but it'll work.

I got 4.0.2 update today for my i9250. Google had previously halted the update roll out for GSM after they discovered some bugs. Google resumed the OTA roll out yesterday and I got my notice today showing my update was ready. This is second update from Google since I switched to yakju. I'm sure if I was on the Samsung build my phone originally came with, I wouldn't have received any update still. I got my first update 5 minutes after the switch to Google yakju build and nice email from Google welcoming me to ICS and Galaxy Nexus. I got neither when I was on the Samsung build.

First thing I did after the update was to restore the root with Voodoo OTA RootKeeper app. Excellent free app by supercurio and worked as advertised and quickly restored root with one click. Next, I grabbed my USB thumb drive and tried Stickmount app. That too worked as advertised under 4.0.2. I was able to browse my connected USB thumb drive and play 720p movie no problem. Nice work by Chainfire. I plugged in my Logitech USB mouse and was able to use it no problem. I tried it with Splashtop Remote and mouse worked great and was actually helpful. Color me impressed. I tried the PS3 controller using USB and couldn't get it to work in SNesoid. Maybe someone can tell me what I need to do to get it working.

I got my OTA update and USB host mode now work so I'm happy.

Thanks for the product recommendations.

I finally got around to plugging it into my PC (Vista64). I'm finding the drag/drop copying to be buggy. It would sometimes say "The copy operation has failed. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." So far it's only worked once. Can't get it back again. Is there some trick like the phone has to be active the whole time without it going back to a locked status? And it wouldn't even detect the phone when plugged in the other USB port.

I bought a Motorola Roadster bluetooth speaker for the car. It supports phone/voice sound and media (music) sound. Everything works great but when I try to play music on the GN, it doesn't go through the speaker. Nothing happens. It has a FM mode where it transmits but you have to turn that on. Neither way (with FM on or FM off) works. If I play something in Pandora and turn on BT, the music stops coming out of my GN but it doesn't come out of the Roadster either.

Has anyone had this issue? The device works great otherwise.

Edit: Did some reasearch. It's actually pretty hard to find information about it. There's a bug with ICS where audio doesn't go through BT. The fixes are to reboot, turn airplane mode on/off, or keep trying to disconnect and reconnect BT. Hope this helps someone.
