i saw part of the first one...up until they were riding on broomsticks. The TV went off, i walked away and the words harry potter never came close to crossing my mind again.
But then again i hated LOTR too so guess the medevil gay stuff isnt my thing.

Has anyone here read all the books? I've only read up until The Globet of Fire, but I still have plans to read the rest, do you think my watching the movies will spoil the read?

Yes and when
Bellatrix got owned

While I haven't read the books, I thought that scene could have been better or at least more dramatic. But that's the problem with movies these days... they're god awful at creating dramatic tension. The scene
with Hermoine and Ron about to become snake chow
is a better example of how it should be done. You set up dramatic tension and then something happens to make you (internally or externally) shout, "FUCK YEAH!"

just saw it, awesome movie, the first one was kinda boring but to be expected as it just setup the last battle.

the clapping was funny as hell to me also during the cheese parts

Was such a great series. They did the movies all pretty much as well as they could.

Went to all the midnight book launches and movie showings (at least the last 3 movies). All a very good time.

Also never read a word of any of the books. Success! I beat the system!

ps I saw the cowboys and aliens preview for part 1 and part 2. The same damn trailer. Not to mention seeing it a long time before that. Is that fucking movie ever coming out or what? Not that i'm going to see it, I'm just tired of seeing the trailer for it for the last 2 years at every movie. Also seen that super lame ryan reynolds/jason bateman movie trailer a ton and I don't even go to the movies hardly ever. They really need to mix up previews better.

The epilogue was done pretty badly IMO. It kind of seems like they went through the whole movie and then said, "... we forgot about the epilogue. We have 2 days left to shoot GOGOGO!"

Yeah it reminded me of Hancock with Will Smith - they obviously had a deadline to meet and had to get it out. I wanted more "bang" for the finale, but instead Voldemort just kind of disintegrates, they look sad on the entrance to Hogwarts after he chucks the wand, and then their kids go off to school. I think they should have done a bit more with the 19-years-later bit, or perhaps even saved that for after the credits.

I think they should have made it a 3-hour epic :awe:

Grrr. Wrote out a long post and replied to a few posters here. However, AT's recent flaky responsiveness sent that out to the netherworld somehow.

I had voted "Theater eventually," but wife and I saw it yesterday in glorious 2d. It was extremely well done. Nice mix of humor, action, emotion, and tension. Also, the epilogue wasn't as bad as I worried it would be.

To anyone who saw the 3d, how was it? Also, mention if it was IMAX or regular screen. Were all the IMAX showings 3d?

I am glad/proud to be in the minority and pleased to say that I have never seen a HP movie ... and probably never will have the desire to do so.

Saw it in 2D as well. Really ticked off at how dark the image is. I don't mind 3D for things like Avatar, but I don't want to see everything in 3D - and the downside of having a 3D release is that the 2D releases come out with a much darker image in theaters. Bah.

I've heard the 3D was actually pretty good in HP7 though. I was disappointed with the 3D in the Green Hornet, but I loved it in Avatar.

I haven't read the books so I'm guessing this question I have is answered there, but it really should of been answered in the movie unless I just totally missed it
Why did Drako's mom tell Voldomore that Harry was dead?

Draco's mom asked Harry "Is Draco alive". When Harry answered "yes" she helped Harry by saying he was dead.

I also thought that she also wanted to get Draco out of the school. By saying HP was dead, Voldemort would march victoriously to the school and she could go get him. If HP was alive, the school might be attacked more.

I saw it in 3D and the dark parts were annoying, kept looking around my glasses to see if it was any brighter. This movie was converted to 3D and there wasn't anything special about the 3D effects, but it didn't cheapen it either so I wouldn't say skip the 3D version.

I feel like a small piece of me died today. I saw the film and loved it. I also shed a couple of tears because I have been with Harry Potter for 10 years. I remember the first one when I took my daughter and niece. My niece who was 8 at the time dropped the popcorn, lol. It truly was a great 10 years to watch kids become adults. Kudos to one of the great stories ever told on the big screen. 🙂

There was WAY too much clapping in the midnight showing. I hate that in any movie.

I loved loved LOVED the movie. I thought they did an awesome job with pretty much everything. Sure there are parts that differed somewhat, or that I imagined differently. But all in all it was just a great end to a great series/story.

I was rally surprised with the amount of humor in it. Sure they all have little barbs here and there, but this one was just loaded with it. I really enjoyed how they gave a lot of the more minor, but much loved characters a final bow here and there (Semus for one).

I, and my son, will really miss the series.

I really hope pottermore.com works out.

...and I can't wait for the next LEGO game too.

On the same note of the clapping, there was some stupid bitch sitting behind me during the midnight showing, giving an obnoxious "guffaw" not even a laugh at every fucking moment. She stopped when my entire row turned at her and gave her a dirty look.

pretty much like others have said, they explain it better in the book. But she wants her son back and feels if Harry is dead the attacks will stop and they can take the school(without attacking) and Draco can be safe.

Thanks for the answer. Makes sense, just wasn't very clear, I couldn't remember what happened with Draco once Harry saved his ass.
