Heading out for a double feature of DH1 and DH2 that starts at 9pm with my 10 year old. We've done the last 2 at midnight showings too. Can't wait!

Just got back from the midnight showing.

It was about as good as I expected (pretty kick-ass). It was quite the challenge to bring everything to a close without making it look too ridiculous, but they seemed to have pulled it off nicely.

The epilogue was done pretty badly IMO. It kind of seems like they went through the whole movie and then said, "Shit... we forgot about the epilogue. We have 2 days left to shoot GOGOGO!"

I haven't seen it, but I wish they would have left off the epilogue.

Would rather have a new ending. Perhaps the three stars standing around on a tower over looking Hogwarts or something.

"Butterbeer is a cream soda cake filled with butterscotch syrup and topped with butterscotch frosting and a Hogwarts house ring. Which house will you be sorted into?"

I actually like the way they did the epilogue. I don't like it and wish they left it out, but I thought from what they had to deal with, it was well done.

I thought in the book, she just tried to do too much with referencing every single person and cramming it all down on how well everyone is doing.

one thing that did bother me was
Harry and voldemort's fight. I felt like the movie gave the impression that Harry was a great wizard that could dual with voldemort. In the books, it is clear that Harry could never win a dual against him, but because of what he knows and has(wand allegiance) he can win.

I have always thought of voldemort as such the great wizard that even the best(other than Dumbledore) would never stand a chance at defeating him.

I'm guessing that it would have been a lot less interesting visually if he just kind of sat there like a lump on a log.

Saw the 3AM showing in IMAX 3D, which was DEFINITELY worth it. The "best" (most entertaining) movie of the bunch.

I've never seen a midnight opening so packed. There were 15 showings all sold out and litterally no parking anywhere.

i saw it in a tiny, tiny ass theater. Maybe I'll go back for the IMAX experience...:D

FRIDAY 4 PM, 6TH UPDATE: Sources tell me that Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is already cruising passed $80M for the day (including that $43.5M from midnight showings. This is setting a new largest single-day box office record in motion picture history. (Previous largest day was Twilight Saga: New Moon at $72M.) Today Movietickets.com is reporting that Part 2 also broke ticket sales records yesterday becoming the new #1 online ticket pre-seller of all time by surging past New Moon. That's a new global cume of $162.5M.

I completely agree.
In the book Voldemort's final moments saw him simultaneously fighting 3 wizards, McGonagall, Kingsley, and Slughorn, of which it is a fair argument that McGonagall and Kingsley were the most powerful good witch and wizard still alive. And while Rowling never truly painted a brilliant action sequence I always imagined that fight as relatively epic, something the movie could have easily made to rival the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort in Order of the Phoenix. A fight where Voldemort was about to beat those three before Harry intervened, besting Voldemort while at the same time explaining why he couldn't lose to Voldemort's Elder wand, a scene where I always imagined Harry lackadaisically deflecting attacks from Voldemort while he explained how things were going to go down.

Our local news tonight had a whole story on a guy that lives in our area named Harry Potter, and he is upset that college kids call him drunk in the middle of the night each time a new movie comes out lol.

He can't afford to unlist his number, but he is looking for an apology from J.K. Rowling, which I'm hoping he was kidding about, but he sounded pretty serious D:

Ahh you guys are making me jealous. Hopefully I can see it tomorrow night. I'm probably going to cry like a baby. By the way, random fact. My birthday is two days before Harry's, and exactly 3 days after Daniel Radcliff's (born the same year). yeah... i'll shut up now.

There was WAY too much clapping in the midnight showing. I hate that in any movie.

I loved loved LOVED the movie. I thought they did an awesome job with pretty much everything. Sure there are parts that differed somewhat, or that I imagined differently. But all in all it was just a great end to a great series/story.

I was rally surprised with the amount of humor in it. Sure they all have little barbs here and there, but this one was just loaded with it. I really enjoyed how they gave a lot of the more minor, but much loved characters a final bow here and there (Semus for one).

I, and my son, will really miss the series.

I really hope pottermore.com works out.

...and I can't wait for the next LEGO game too.

I'm a big action flick fan and have been disappointed by all the prior HP movies in that regard.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed this one, much darker and lots of action. I wouldn't mind seeing it again just because there is so much going on in the action scenes I'd like to watch more what's going on in the background.
