Yea it does kind of sound like a browser based HP MMO/Neopets sort of thing, still it sounds like in addition to that there's also going to be a lot of kind of "lore" sort of stuff available in it as well as a quite a bit of unpublished material JKR wrote that's not been released anywhere else.

I'm wondering if Pottermore is what became of the "encyclopedia" project Rowling discussed after Deathly Hallows release, as she says she has a lot of material/backstories for characters that just never had a place in the books but she'd still like to release.
