I don't understand how anyone is saying the graphics aren't in the upper echelon of 360 games. After watching that video review at gametrailers.com, I can't wait to get this running on my 1080p LCD. I think it looks amazing.

I've been firing up some halo 2, but damn after playing the halo 3 beta I forgot how rough the halo 2 graphics look 😀
I'm not going to read any reviews of the game for now. I just want to get it and find everything out for myself. I don't want to know anymore than I already do.

While it delivers on every other aspect, and surpasses on others, I'm going to have to say that it still can't match up in terms of graphics to what Epic delivered with Gears of War. Yes, I know how Gears only supported 8 players, and the multiplayer was crappy in general, but still. Even the single player doesn't look as good graphically as some of the best from Gears of War, and Bungie has had a lot more time with the 360 hardware than Epic has. The graphics don't seem to have improved too much from the beta, though I have yet to play single player.

have you played the final game yet?
the single player game of halo looks fantastic. granted it doesn't look better than gears, it isn't supposed to either. it looks different. some of the cutscenes just look incredible though, and the actual gameplay has such vivid colors and just looks great the whole time. the explosions in halo 3 are top notch.
also I too loved GoW and if you read my previous posts on GoW, you would see how much I defended it.
while GoW is freaking awesome, both multi and single player, the thing about it is that there really is not much variety at all in the gameplay. this is where halo 3 shines BIG time.
you ride so many different vehicles, go by yourself, with the arbiter, with a whole army, have dramatic music playing while you do objectives, etc. I could go on and on and on, but at the end, there were so many times in Halo 3 that I had a tingly giddy feeling that I haven't had since I was a little kid playing video games that I Just cannot say how much fun the single player is.
sure there are some flaws, and there are a few levels I probably could have done without, but the feeling that you get in the last level are you know you are coming to the climax of the game, with the dramatic music just pumping and explosions everywhere, it just cannot be matched in any other game I've played of recent times.
and on top of that, you have the video editor, forge, co-op, and vs mode.
I'm sorry but I'm just tired of reading the "halo doesn't live up the hype" responses when they have not even played the game or just do not give any other valid reasons other than comparing it to PC games.

I do agree that a lot of reviews seem to say a lot of bad things to be rating is as high as they are, but isn't all about fun in the end? If a game does a number of things wrong, but you still have an absolute blast playing it, why doesn't it deserve a higher score?

That's not saying their bad, in fact I would rate in number 2 on the 360 in graphics.

Give Bungie credit though....they can take the color pallete out further than different shades of brown. 😉

Gah, after reading that the Limited Editions have poor packaging (so shipping could ruin them), I don't think I want to take a chance with it 😱. Unless I can go to the store and ask to shake their LE boxes 😛. I was going to order from Amazon though and I doubt it'll survive a trip through FedEx 😛.

Care to elaborate? I haven't heard of this problem. I have the limited edition reserved, but since I work at Gamestop tonight, I'll be able to go through and pick out a copy before we start handing them out to the customers. By your description of shaking the boxes, I assume discs are coming loose and getting scratched?
