Question for those of you who have played Burnout Paradise online ...

is the online integration in GTA4 like the burnout paradise integration is?

Same here, it's really hard to see a nighttime, and I game on an LCD. I adjusted the brightness settings, but it's still very hard to see at some points.

I still can't get used to the car controls, they are completely different than in past GTA games. The handbrake is basically useless now unless you're only going about 10 miles an hour. The cars turn like they are tanks, and you really have to drive them slowly to have any sort of chance of getting through intersections without a mass chaos of cars flying everywhere.

I've also struggled with the camera in some tight spots like is normal with GTA. The on-foot controls sometimes annoy me as well.

So far, a couple of hours in, it's a great game, but it doesn't feel like a 10. Of course, I still have quite a few hours to go :). Only 2 hours in and it says I've already completed 5% of the game. I love the myriad of stats that it keeps, too. Should be interesting to look through when you start getting up to 20 or 30 hours. I was also able to nail my first lay in the game without paying ;) :p.

I guess I'm going to head into town and run a couple of errands really quick while I'm actually off work during the week for a change, and I'll be right back in the game :).

Went to Best Buy and picked this up at lunch, they had a ton of them left for both systems and plenty of SE's out. I decided to get the 360 version because it lists 2-4 player co-op and the ps3 version does not, not sure if there is really a difference though.

I read yesterday that it does and adds a good bit more onto the size of Liberty City from GTA 3.

I haven't gotten online yet, but it basically looks like the exact same setup as Paradise, complete with free-roam aorund the world until somebody decides to enter into an actual game mode.

Roman mentions right after you get off the boat that due to terrorism you need visas to travel between the islands, so apparently that's how they're blocking them off this time.

What co-op features does the game have exactly?

Anyone have it on PS3 know if it works 'well' with the Dualshock controller? Want to get one, but budget is a bit strained, so want to know if its worth the $55 for the extra 'feel'.

There are (inevitably) reports of GTA IV locking up not only the 360 but the PS3 as well. The PS3 version most affected seems to be the 60GB version.

Cheats

I would turn autosave off before you use any of them as they can effect achievements. The annihilator is the helicopter, and that is fun as hell. I used it to go to the tallest building of the game (empire state) and bailed so I was right at the top. Jumping off from there is a long drop, but funny as hell.

Man, this is just mind blowing. I could spend hours just watching the TV and surfing the net, and it'll all so incredibly well done. If you dont have 360 or PS3, seriously, buy one now, and buy this game.

What is the multiplayer setup like? Do we get server lists and that sort of thing, or is it an autojoin setup?

Curse this work! 3 hours to go =(

Well, I couldn't resist. Even though I had it pre-ordered online, I bought a copy over lunch because my pre-order will not be here for another 3 days. I couldn't wait that long. Incidentally, I also saw a pile of Wiis at the store today.

Buddy on another (non-hardware) forum talking about the "it's just a game" aspect of it:

Thank you. It's not a gangster training program any more than Guitar Hero teaches you how to play the damned guitar.

I grew up playing video games and it's not like they affected me, imagine if say, in Resident Evil I took it seriously and decided to take the green herb...

Wait, screw that.

Imagine if like in Super Mario Brothers I went around eating mushroo...

Crap.

OK, I played a LOT of Donky Kong back in the day, and as yet, I've never killed a monkey. Spanked, well... Killed, no.

Well, I found this on wikipedia:

"The game does not feature any split-screen or LAN multiplayer modes."

anyone know if it's possible to replay cutscenes? I've missed a couple of them.

No lockups on my Elite in a 6 hour session.

I'm disappointed so far. Aphex Twin and ZZ Top are the highlights so far, I haven't listened to the talk stations yet.

360 people. All that was in the box was the map and city guide right? There's no 1 month trial card like some european version.

Disaster! Panic! One of the biggest releases of the year and people are having problems? That almost never happens. Sometimes. Reports are coming in of Grand Theft Auto IV freezing during, and just after, the opening cutscene. Weirdly, anecdotal evidence is revealing that the issue seems to be exclusive to the 60GB version of the PS3. How frustrating!

Don't worry, there's a fix. Rockstar has stated that simply deleting your game data and then reinstalling will fix the issue. So if you're being plagued this particular bug then give that a go and see what happens.

According to this, you get a one-month free trial of Live Gold. It's likely behind the manual in the case.

Just got an email from Jim who?s hard at work unboxing copious copies of GTAIV and he let me know that each copy of the 360 version is going to include a free month of Xbox Live, not the 48 hours that?s usually standard.

Microsoft is both looking to promote the service, and is no doubt looking for redemption after the outages that plagued the Christmas season.
