Should be interesting to see what the politicians have to say about it.

Damn, maybe I should pickup a copy now before they pull it. I don't wanna get a censored v.2.

Ps. Holy shit, the women and language in this GTA are nasty! *orders GTA4 from amazon.com even though he doesn't have a PS3 yet*

For me, it came down to what other games were out for both systems.

Some exlusivnes:
PS3 has Gran Turismo

XBox has Bioshock and Forza 2

For me, Forza is more of my kinda of racing games. ANd I always wanted Bioshock.

Base your decision on the exclusive games is my best advice. The DLC w/XBox for GTA4 is just icing on the cake if you go that route.

Must...resist...watching...

I really liked the review. Minimal spoilers if anyone's worried.

Gametrailer's HD reviews are really nice. You get a much better sense of the game watching actual gameplay in HD.

Yeah I love Gametrailers because they can show you what they're talking about. I'd normally watch the review, but I really don't want to see any more gameplay until I start playing it. :)

I'm not sure, but I can't imagine it'd really matter. Ranked matches only let you "level" 0-10, and each level just gives you character customization options. You don't gain any weapons or anything from leveling up, it seems really pointless to even have ranked matches.

Eh the gametrailer video looks kinda stupid. I pre-ordered on amazon, but I'm wondering if it was worthwhile

Does anyone here have the Special Edition GTA IV 360 or PS3? Is it worth the extra 30 bucks? I haven't bought a 360 game since Halo 3 and I was considering the SE version. I got my eye on that safety deposit box and bag. The last PS3 game I bought was Resisance mainly because it was on sale for 39.99. I mainly use my PS3 as a bluray player.

I anticipate the SE stuff is cheap. Not worth 30 bucks. It will just wind up the back of the closet anyway.

Ya, definitely. If San Andreas was pulled off shelves and given an AO because of the hot coffee mod, I honestly don't see how this game managed to get an M rating out of the gate. Better grab your copy of the game now before the politicians get wind of what you can do in the game and attempt to have it blocked.

Plus chances are they overproduce them and can be had cheap.

like the halo 3 legendary edition. It went for 129.99 at launch.

I was able to get for 60 bucks 2 weeks before christmas.

Maybe they somehow didn't include it in their submission to the ESRB? The ESRB doesn't necessarily play the release candidates, and it's the responsibility of the publishers to reveal what's in them. I'm not familiar with the process, but this is what their website states:

Ratings Process

Prior to a game being released to the public, game publishers submit responses to a detailed written ESRB questionnaire (often supplementing such responses with lyric sheets, scripts, etc.), specifying exactly what pertinent content (as defined by ESRB) will be in the game. Along with the written submission materials, publishers must provide a videotape or DVD which captures all pertinent content, including the most extreme instances, across all relevant categories including but not limited to violence, language, sex, controlled substances and gambling. Pertinent content that is not playable (i.e., "locked out"), but will exist in the game code on the final game disc, must also be disclosed.

Once the submission is checked by ESRB for completeness, which may also involve ESRB staff members playing a beta or alpha version of the game, the video footage is reviewed by at least three specially trained game raters. ESRB raters must be adults and typically have experience with children, whether through prior work experience, education or by being parents or caregivers themselves.
...

I wonder if there's a way for them to sneak things by (or if they just flat out hide them)? There's no nudity in that video, though. The actions are rather graphic, but I'd almost say they're PG-13 since they're merely gestures. Certainly nothing worse than an R-rated movie. Regardless, it's "interactive" in the sense that you can engage in these actions anytime you want, so there will definitely be a frenzy over it if the non-gaming blow hards get wind of it.

Damn you people, I wasn't that excited for the game till I started reading this thread and reviews. Now I'm going to have a tough time making sure I don't get it before my finals are over... or else my grades will really suffer.

PG-13 for movies. But video games are held to a ridiculous standard, so I think that stuff would probably still border on AO. And the problem with buying the game before they edit out that stuff is that they can force you to update the game if you want to play it online. No doubt there will be an uproar...

My PS3 copy from Family Videos shipped on Friday :D

Seems like PS3 version suffers less than 360 with pop-ins and such, from Kotaku:

Pop-In & Loading
With a huge, seamless streaming world, data must be constantly read from the disc. The PS3 version, with its required HDD install, loads missions a couple seconds faster and decreases pop-in. The Xbox 360 version can suffer from some very noticeable texture loading, as things like trees, vehicles and building signs will regularly pop-in as one tools about town. It can be distracting, especially during high speed chases, and the PS3 version isn't entirely immune from it, but it's not a game killing problem.

lolz bloorayz are the slowz!

Bluray are slow, dont kid yourself. When your HD starts filling up and youre *required* to sit through an install just to play a game you havent played in a while, you'll be less than happy. I'd love the *option* to install it on my 360, but I'll take slower load times over a forced install.

LOL
