i agree with you, that is probably my only gripe with the game that some of it felt overdone. there were a few times where i wanted to get off/out of the "vehicle" and just start shooting locusts instead.

Thanks

I'm not really sure either, but I generally just pointed the middle of the tall cursor where I wanted, held it down until it clicked to the middle, and generally, the mortars fell where I wanted them to most of the time.

Thanks. I decided to thumb through the game manual and it says that the longer you hold the trigger the farther the mortar goes.

well i don't know if you guys have noticed and if you have i don't mean to come accross as thinking you guys are dumb, but on the mortar the longer you hold down the R trigger you see a distance increase on the aiming. So the longer you hold the farther it goes (obviously). The tough part is getting a feel for how far "120m" or so is. I've gotten somewhat used to it and can judge pretty well.

one thing i don't like about the mortar and some of the power weapons are that they are still on the maps in Wingman mode. In the times I've played maps with the Hammer or Mortar, those seem to be very powerful and it's basically 100% luck if you start near them or not.

Heh. Call it the "Halo" effect. After the success of the vehicle missions in Halo, devs put in vehicle sections to break up the gameplay so it doesn't feel like you're doing the same thing all the time.

The vehicle sections in GOW2 are definitely better than the vehicle section in GOW though. Driving the Centaur and Brumak were fun. Reaver...not so much.

I didn't mind them too much (although I haven't completed Act 5 yet), but what really bothered me is that the tank wouldn't let you look one way and drive another. Lame.

See I completed the game co-op the whole time, so i was driving and the other guy was aiming, so that wasn't much of an issue heh.

Also, don't read queasy's post right above yours since you havent finished act 5!

Too late! It's OK, I've already had the Brumack part "spoiled" for me. I just need to finish the game already.

Ya, the Brumack info was shown at E3, which is kind of stupid when you realize what they actually showed. I won't say anything else.... :)

But yes, the Reaver riding was highly annoying, and I could've done without it.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to spoil anything. I assumed that everyone already knew about that because of E3 and every other preview of GoW2 that mentions it.

The Brumak sequence is gonna be the only way to get the seriously 2.0 achievement...and even then it's gonna take a looooooooong time! I went from 4600 kills to 5800 in about 25 mins just playing the first 2 areas over and over...(start level, kill all grunts until you get to corpser, restart level there). It's amazingly boring though...

You wont get the maps. These are one time use codes, and theyre bigger than the gamefly envelopes anyway.

Just got the game the other day and it came with the map packs also. Haha. Not bad for $41 shipped

Yeah, I made this post right after finally getting through that stupid reaver part. That one put me over the edge. Almsot as annoying as trying to drive through the stupid ice.

Quick question:

To those who bought the limited edition, did the golden lancer code come inside the actual package, or did the retailer give it to you when you bought it? My brother is wanting to know, but I won't bother you with the story of why. Thanks.

It was handed out at the store. Not in the case

So what about the golden hammerburst? Was that a midnight release only thing?

no it wasnt, the gold lancer was inside the actual package. it's on the same card as the 48 hour xbl trial and the 5 old maps.

golden hammerburst is the only one that was handed out at midnight.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. My brother is having issues with picking up his LE preorder a week late, and the lady at the store doesn't seem to know what she's talking about.... :D

Riding the Brumak was the SHIT. I mean you could just lay waste to anything that breathed. I totally could have lived without the Reaver and Centaur sequences (I found the driving on ice segment downright infuriating).

Between the matchmaking issues and the migraines I get from the roadie run, I'm heading back to COD4. Someone give me a shout when they fix this thang.

Normally I'd berate someone for that but I honestly can't blame you. The initial shock/joy of the game has worn off and left in it's wake is alot of disgruntled feelings...nothing even close to that happened when I got Gears 1.

Man, i almost threw the controller at the wall at the ice part. That part was definitely unnecessary.

What was the big deal? All you had to do was drive really slowly and not be in a rush. I took my sweet as time after 2 tries of trying to gun it around the breaks, and passed them easily.

Yeah, my first try I died because the ice breaking was totally unexpected. The second time I went to fast. The third try, I took my time and looked for the obvious path to the next piece of land.

I was more ticked off about pre-determined pieces of building that randomly fall off and crush you without warning or ability to move. My favorite was walking down a straight and getting the "Y" button pop-up telling me to look somewhere. I pressed "Y" only to watch a piece of building fall down on top of me....
