Got up to level 41 in Horde last night; wasn't easy. I was literally droppin' bombs (mortar rounds) almost nonstop and alternating over to the Hammer Of Dawn while waiting for new ammo to appear. Having to concentrate the Hammer on a dude for 2-3 seconds to kill him will make you wish your weapons increased in lethality at the same rate your enemies do. :p

Has anyone gone to the GOW website? I just went today and they have stats for everything, much like bungie.net had for Halo 3. Definitely worth checking out

Holy hell, I didn't even know that existed. Why didn't they promote this?

Why does it say I have 13 kills and 6 deaths when I got my ass handed to me in the 2 games I played? Does horde mode stats count towards your overall KDR? If so, that's lame and makes these stats pointless.

Yup, Horde counts too. I had a 69:1 kill ratio earlier, probably lower now since I've played some non-horde.

I saw the website a few days ago, it's got a lil' info, not nearly as in depth as Halo 3's website.

So, I got alot of play time in the past two days, beat the game on insane, beat lvl 50 on horde, twas all gravy.

The more time I spend though the more I realize they released this game too early. There are alot of bugs left to be fixed, and it seems the bulk of them occur when playing co-op as Dom. Had another great glitch today, I was roadie running and it switched to a cutscene, when the cutscene ended I was moving at roadie running speed but I couldn't pick up any weapons or shoot. Had another (not sure you can call it a glitch) where a boomer's boomshot was shooting not just over cover, but through cover/walls.

Matchmaking is straight up goofy. Between searcing for 15 mins + to not really being matched up with people of "equal skill" (played a game of Wingman with a friend, we were the lowest ranked guys in the game by far), there's just not alot of good to be said about it. I can't make a game with 6 friends and have random people join in to fill it up, I have togo back to the lobby after every game, etc. I know the goal of Epic for ranked matches was to force you to play against different people after every match, but considering how long it can take to find opponents it's a bit ridiculous. I know it's wishful thinking but it'd sure be nice if they'd make it similar to the Gears 1 system...

Overall I still love the game, they just need to patch a bunch of stuff...

I have never felt like such a newb then when I played three games on Live this past week. The only kills I got were from the chainsaw action.

Kind of a humiliating experience going from campaign to online.

Not really, Gears 2 is much more chainsaw oriented than Gears 1 was (although Gears 1 was originally that way as well).

And I got slammed when I first went to MP in Gears 1, you'll get better.

Those of you who are having connection problems, run the test for XBL and see what it says about your NAT. Mine was reporting strict, so I updated my router firmware and then forwarded the ports - worked perfectly. Went from unable to find a game to getting a horde game in under 3-4 minutes. Still shouldn't take that long though ...

I've been having lots of glitch problems. Another guy I know keeps telling me it's gotta be lag related but I really don't think it is, and considering how many people are having various problems I don't think it's just me.

well, while i loved the SP campaign as a whole, when i first started playing, it got so frustrating i almost just switched games.

okay, started out on hardcore, figured i could work my way through it alright. after getting nailed on the first mission by the mortars like 3 times, i got pissed. but okay, i just suck, not the games fault. anyways, i was now in a bad mood. i get through that part, and then go back to the main menu. when i come back and try to load my save, it won't load. i select the file and hit A, and it makes then noise, but nothing happens. had to go back to my dashboard and then load GOW2 again. WT!?!?

finally got back in the game, but i was already picking my spot on the wall to throw the controller through. got into the city where you fight the tickers while guarding Dizzy's rig. well, during that part, you have to chainsaw through some boards. well, all my guys pack into that little alley with me and when i cut through it, i get stuck about a foot off the ground where the boards were. i can turn and stuff, but can't get free. reload that save, haul ass in here before my guys get there, and it worked fine. i got stuck a few other times as well, throughout the game.

anyways, like i said, it was an awesome time playing through the campaign, but it is buggy, and it is Epic. wasn't UT3 the same way?

I still maintain that they simply released the game too early. They were committed to their release date and didn't spend the time refining the game like the first one. There are SO many fewer bugs in the first game.

I'm waiting for a patch but yeah, there definately needs to be a few changes.

Although one thought, as a first time Gears player hardcore probably isn't the place to start :p

I ran into a glitch of sorts while playing co-op campaign, we were in the second act where the grind lifts were coming down and somehow right after a save point I died, when we restarted Marcus looked like he was riding a lift down but the screen/graphics were all messed up and when everything was back to normal my character was standing right next to one of the locust and behind a bunch of the others, the guy playing as Dom was way up and back from where I was, we couldn't figure out why it dropped me there of all places. Not complaining just pointing it out.

I think the majority of glitches are showing up during co-op campaign. I haven't experienced or heard of very many in solo campaign play.

Me neither.

I had a lot of problems with co-op in Gears 1. Could have been connection related, but a lot of times 90% of the textures would fail to load, so I could see Marcus, Dom, the Locust, a few objects here and there, but otherwise everything was black. We usually had to reload our campaign or both die to try it again, and it would only happen to me and not him.

I'm not really sure either, but I generally just pointed the middle of the tall cursor where I wanted, held it down until it clicked to the middle, and generally, the mortars fell where I wanted them to most of the time.

Thanks. I decided to thumb through the game manual and it says that the longer you hold the trigger the farther the mortar goes.

If the enemies are pretty close (well within Lancer range), as few as 2 clicks will work. I haven't tested if one aims the reticule up for extra range or the opposite.

i have played through and beaten the first. never did MP with it though. but i know the feel of it. just that it's been almost 2 years since i played Gears 1, lol.

i got a lot better towards the end. only times i really died was when Dom or someone took the cover i was standing behind and i couldn't get into cover. that's one thing i don't get, why can you only duck when you are in cover? why can't i just stand behind a barrier and duck if i choose to? it got really annoying later in the game when you have all the guys with you and they take up all the cover. i always ended up accidentally rolling out into the open and getting smacked down.

Thanks for posting that, now I know :). I'm just a few kills away from that achievement for 30 kills with the thing simply going through the single player game, so I must've been doing something right.

I just finished the game and I really enjoyed. By far my best purchase for my 360 yet.

When you finish make sure you watch all the way through the credits. I would like to get some discussion going about that. ;)
