I *can* do well at Sebring, I just found that an S700 ZR1 couldn't power out of the corners like the Veyron and still couldn't keep up on the straights. Maybe weight reduction + less power + more downforce would help? I'll try the Viper ACR sometime as well.

Yeah, that was my point. Hard to beat an AWD 1000HP car on a curvy track that also has long straights with a RWD 750HP car. I'm not that good on Forza.

AWD is for losers.

and the veyron is a pig. sure, it's not as squirelly as an s-class vette, but every other mid engined car handles about thousand times better.

Maybe a super-upgraded Murcielago(SP?) or Reventon (not as much room to play with PI) would have a shot. Still going to try the ACR too.

Turned on the 360 this morning and saw that the Christmas DLC is out. Alot of sweet looking cars, F458, GT-R Spec-V, the uber Ferrari 599 racing car, etc. Considering I bought all the DLC for Forza 2 and typically didn't use most of the cars I'll hold off for now.

Sweet! How much is it? Can you buy the cars individually, or only in a pack?

Damn, hating being stuck at work even more now...

I posted about the Forza 3 DLC and other DLC in this thread.

Over in the downloadable content side of the releases, ten new cars are now available for Forza Motorsport 3 as part of the Hot Holidays Car Pack. This pack includes the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia, 2010 Nissan GT-R SpecV, 2010 Ferrari 599XX, 2009 Audi #2 Audi Sport Team Joest R15 TDI, 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV, 2009 Aston Martin #007 Aston Martin Racing Lola, 2010 Porsche Panamera Turbo, 2009 Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, 2010 Jaguar XFR, and 2010 Audi S4 all for 400 MS Points ($5). If you'd like to try out just one of the cars, a Hot Holidays Car Pack sample is also available with just the 2010 Audi S4.

Does T10 usually alternate between car packs and map packs? Even though I purchased this car pack, I think I'll be much more excited when they release DLC with new tracks.

For FM2 there were 2 track packs and I believe 4 car packs. I don't think they alternated. They've said they plan on releasing a car pack about once a month, whether they stick to that or not remains to be seen.

I hear you. I didn't have any of the FM2 DLC til late after picking up the plat hits version and I think I only tried a couple of the extra cars. Of course we pretty much only raced the standard tracks so they went unused for the most part also.

Yeah, that was definitely the biggest money dump in FM2, the tracks. I won't be buying any of them this time around unless everyone I race with does or I'll never get to use them. I literally raced Motegi 1 time in FM2...a complete waste of $$.

So are you saying you didn't like getting new tracks? Was it because the ones they added weren't that good or something? It seems to me that new tracks would be more desirable then new cars...

In FM2 the tracks only worked in multiplayer or when racing by yourself. Well, 75% of racers didn't get the tracks so no one ever raced on them. Which means that the only time I raced them was hotlapping or the one time I got a few Anandtech people to try it.

that might change in FM3 actually, cuz now the public rooms are server created so they might put the track on map rotation or something.

otherwise yeah, no point buying them since u don't get to use it.

The question is, will it hold up to a Veyron on high speed tracks with med-high speed curves?

I'm wishing I had more engine options for the R8 diesel engine to compare against the Veyron. The R8 is a beast with the R10 engine though (mountain doesn't describe the torque).

I didn't realize you could put the R10 TDI into the R8...I'll have to check that out

take the reventon to seabring. i tried a rwd mostly grip tuned GT, 4wd viper and the reventon with 862 HP. the GT has the hardest time to pass it, as expected, i had to get inside and nudge him out at the second right hand L turn. the viper kept up with him very well, but it keeps pulling away at straights, and it's frustrating how early the bugatti breaks, after a few laps of trying a clean pass, i went besides him and forced him outside at the 3rd to the last turn. The reventon is the easiest, i passed him on the inside at turn 1, clean as a whistle.

the bugatti runs about 2:04 at hard, if you can beat that time you can beat him.

Yeah I love the GT for A600, it's almost not fair. Surprised it can't hack it at S700 on Sebring - lots of room to play with PI and its already got 550HP. Guess that's not much compared to 1000 tho...

Leaderboards are up on Forzamotorsport.net.

Awesome, thanks.

I put the Eagle Talon C class in 704th fastest lap @ Laguna Seca. It could still use some work but thats not too shabby considering everything else is the C Class Celica '03.

Whats with everyone running manuals w/ clutch? Surely not that many people have the fancy steering wheels.

i *think* the manual /w clutch is that you don't need to press the clutch on upshift with these fancy gearbox, and since there's no damage doing that, it save a little time.
